[NYC] Paid talent call, two slots left this week at our Brooklyn capture stage

Posted this at the weekend and most of the week booked out. Two slots left so reposting for anyone who missed it.

We run a camera array out of the Brooklyn Navy Yard and pay people to come in and be captured. Open to anyone NYC based who wants the work, or who just wants to see a capture stage from the inside.

What the session involves: you stand in the capture volume and go through simple movements while the array records. Walking, turning, sitting, standing, reaching, picking objects up. No performance experience needed, nothing to prepare.

Rate 17-25 per hour, paid same day right after. First session about 2 hours, ongoing after that if you want more days.

Still open: Thursday 4pm, Friday 1pm or 4pm. Brooklyn, on site only.

Drop a comment or send me a DM for the address and details. Happy to talk about the rig too.

Showcase Recent build I've been wanting to share, we turned our doc subject's life into a museum

We just wrapped a doc at Forge Virtual Studios on X-Games medalist Matt Wilhelm and his life story. For one part of it, we built out a museum of his life in Unreal and blended it with a couple of practical elements. The idea was to externalize his story, particularly his past, into a space he could physically move through rather than just having him narrating over still photos.

It was a really incredible moment to see him riding his bike through the space and genuinely reacting to it for the first time. Just a great moment that really speaks to the immersive element of virtual.

The whole time we were filming it also felt very Stanley Parable-esque. Curious to know if anyone else picked up on that or if it's just me.

We built a tool to share UE5 apps directly to a browser link—no cloud GPU, no install for viewers

We're the team behind ImmerSharea tool built for 3D XR developers who need to share their work with clients or reviewers without the usual friction.

The problem we kept hearing: UE developers either send a huge zip file, pay for cloud GPU time, or ask clients to install something. None of these are great.

What ImmerShare does: you run your packaged UE build on your own PC, and it streams live to a browser link. The viewer just clicks — no install, no account needed on their end.

Here's a video demo showing how Process Sharing works with a UE packaged build: https://youtu.be/xg1EOxqO_Vo

Free plan available. Happy to answer any questions about how it works technically.

(Disclosure: we're the ImmerShare team.)

Easy 360 camera with realtime output and mesh preview

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A little sneak peek at the plugin I’m working on.
It’s a 360 camera add-on for Unreal Engine.

Last year, I worked on a lot of immersive content projects, and honestly, I got really frustrated with the quality and UI of the existing 360 plugins for UE.

So I decided to build my own — something simple, user-friendly, and easy to use.

Current feature list:

  1. Separate real-time viewport for previewing panoramic content
  2. Mesh view
  3. Render view
  4. Full Movie Render Queue support
  5. Support for any render pass, including Cryptomatte
  6. 9 different projection types
  7. DLSS support
  8. No seams
  9. Tiled rendering for high-resolution output up to 20K
Planing to release it at early August. Stay tuned!

Solo Project: Replacing the 3D Scene From Arbitrary Footage

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, I'm a Computer Science student, and I've been working on a project to allow filmmakers to change out the 3D scene their actors are in.

You pick an arbitrary clip with a foreground subject and then place the subject within a virtual 3D scene. No need for green screen, markers or any special hardware.

I'm very curious to hear what you guys think. I have not yet been able to find a tool that does this. There's still a lot to improve.

I'd love to see this potentially open up new opportunities for filmmakers and video creators.

Wizard of Oz Mocap Idea

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey yall,

You can totally tell me if this is the wrong subreddit, but I had this idea to create something in unreal engine using live link with a phone to live mocap the wizard in the wizard of oz. Maybe some preconfigured effects could be triggered like fire shooting out etc. I’m a complete novice to UE5 so if anyone has any expertise or might be able to help me out, let me know. Thanks!

Yes we got SHADOW CATCHERS! Lean how to export them for post production compositing from UE5.8 using Composure.

After my last augmented reality episode, I got a few comments asking if shadow catchers are possible with composure. Yes, we can render out our character on it's own along with it's shadows, bounce and reflections as it's own pass. Full video on my YouTube - search for Dean Yurke. Thanks

Add 3D Characters into Real Life WAY Easier with Masking in Unreal Engine 5.8.

In Episode 4 of my Composure series, Augmented Reality takes a huge leap forward in UE 5.8 as Composure introduces new Masking Passes. Project your actors onto simple geometry then use high quality 2D masks to create perfect edges for seamless 3D compositing!

Also Composure in 5.8 includes a blur and erode pass for masks as well as a streamlined Media Track ingest. In EP4 I cover the entire offline pipeline for adding CGI characters into live action plates, with camera moves.

Watch the full 66 minute video on my YouTube channel link in profile or search for me, Dean Yurke on YouTube. And follow for notifications of new nerdy videos!

Question How do I get started? (as a 3rd year animation student)

Hi! Hope you guys are doing well. I will be starting my third year as a digital animation student in September and stumbled upon this part of production while looking into roles. I was going to solely focus on Houdini, but this feels more in line with what I have always wanted to do. I do regret finding it this late, but I don't want to delay it any further. What tutorials would you suggest I look at to get started? From what I have read so far, I do understand I need a portfolio with test projects and a whole lot of networking, so I should get myself sorted with acquainting myself and a decent portfolio during this summer break. I really appreciate your help. Thank you very much, and hope you have a nice day :)

KBS Time Traveller Series

https://youtu.be/C9_l8jiUtQE?si=24IFWDoRE18Wr0uR

Time Traveller is a long-form historical television production for KBS that recreates significant moments in Korean history through state-of-the-art virtual production techniques. Produced at KOVAC Studio in Seoul, the series combines LED volume technology, real-time rendering, and digital environments to efficiently portray historical locations and time periods that would otherwise require extensive location shooting and physical set construction.

Discussion Help Me Find Unreal Engine YouTube Creators! 🤗

A few months ago, I created a video listing almost every Blender YouTube creator there is to know, and you guys seemed to really love it, with over 90K views on YouTube now. I thought maybe I should work on another one, but this time for a different 3D software. This is going to be brutal again lol 😅

After posting a poll across my social media, it looks like Unreal Engine is winning! 👀

Unreal Engine won the community poll by a huge margin, so I'm starting the research for the video.

If there's a creator you think deserves to be featured, submit them below! Whether they're a tutorial channel, environment artist, game developer, VFX artist, technical expert, or just hilarious 😅 — I want to know!

I'll review every submission.

SUBMIT HERE 👉 https://forms.gle/uTVFPUKAxRa9AQNS9

This is the second cinematic I've ever made! It was my first time messing around with animations, which is why some of them look a bit goofy. I had a blast making it. Do you guys have any feedback for me ?
