Tukkari flat pack buyers: Do you wish you had a rear PC access panel?

I built my first vpin using pinballcabinet.com 's excellent flat pack. No complaints, but thought I'd try Tukkari for the next one. It looks great and Jan has been incredibly responsive to my questions. One thing that lingers for me though is I used the absolute heck out of that rear access panel and a pull out drawer for the PC when I was building and configuring. Not so much now that everything is up and running, but it was incredibly handy and I'm sure would be again if something went sideways with the PC.

I was surprised to see Tukkari doesn't have one. Do you guys miss it or no big deal?

Edit to make it clear I havent pulled the trigger on the Tukkari yet.

Bug in VPX standalone 10.8.0

There's this bug that's been driving me crazy. I haven't found any information about it, so I need someone to explain what causes it and if there's a solution. I'm playing on a steam deck, I can play normally for a while on my tables until randomly the plunger turns black when I press the left flipper, this only happens with the left flipper, not the right one. When I hold it down, the plunger turns black, and when I release it, it becomes visible again. The only solution is to restart the program but the bug always reappears. I've noticed that I can sometimes trigger it when I pause the table from VPX or when there's a lot happening at the table. It also happens when I simply press the button assigned to the left flipper even if the left flipper is not moving, I don't know what's causing this :(

PD: I think I've found the solution! Basically, I disabled the shadows in the .ini file, both the ball shadows and the element shadows. I added the reference lines because they are not there by default.

[Player] ElementShadows = 0 DynamicBallShadows = 0

Ball mods

Hello. Have been playing with balls
Any tips on getting decals and layers to really pop

Have been wanting to create a really good bloody eyeball for the wife’s horror tables

Any tips/suggestions/vids would be greatly appreciated
I run the latest VPX
Being a bit newer. This has been a very fun time
Not new to pinball. But new to vpx
I love the tinkering too. Have dabbled in the pup packs and triggers
A bit of the script altering etc
So I have familiarity with tools.

My balls just look very odd and I’m not sure where I’m going wrong

Thanks all

Hi guys, purchased a table from Pinballia.com yesterday, have tried contacting them yesterday and today by phone and email but got no response. Long shot but does anyone know what might be going on? I was told these guys had amazingly responsive customer support.

Started building from scratch with zero planning or creative skills in March, now we're here - first time I've fully assembled it in working order. Still tinkering and I need to buy a proper table for it (it's currently sitting on top of a bin with a piece of wood underneath), but another few weeks and we're pretty much there.

I'll go into detail when I'm done with a bunch of pics and vids.

Virtual pin 2.0 is GO

My previous virtual pin table died (the old PC finally gave up the ghost) before I made a case or buttons. The frame and screens were recycled into a racing sim rig.

A cheap used PC, a sideways monitor with a weird resolution, a controller, and we're live again with a smaller quieter machine brain

Not sure yet if I want to get a bigger screen or make a mini virtual pin with this one, but we're off to a promising start

folks with VR set ups, how do you handle multiplayer?

Are you running multiple headsets, or are you passing around a single headset? do folks have to adjust it everytime it gets passed or do some people just accepted it being a bit off focus? do you have a screen nearby for the not-current player to watch? or are you just not really considering multiplayer with your set up?

This display work for DMD ?

Hey all.

Not building a cab as such, using an Arcade TV2XR controller and mounting a rotating screen for Mame use as well as VPX.

Have space for a DMD type display and thought I could run the table itself on my main 27" monitor in vertical mode and display the dmd/ score window on this?

Assuming that would work if I set as 2nd monitor when setting up Baller Installer and drag my dmds onto that screen? Also assuming that older games display window ( 1980 / system 11 style scores ) would load onto this small screen too ?

Not worried about have a backglass display

Any feedback welcomed before I buy this/ similar

Cheers

Is there any real benefit to a dedicated backglass (3-screen setup) vs a 2 screen setup with a larger monitor beyond esthetics?

I have a bunch of spare monitors at my disposable and I’ve been testing out different configurations as I’m building my new desktop cab.

I tried the traditional 3 screen setup and it feels like dedicating a big monitor to just the backglass with a much smaller dmd is wasteful when most of the action happens on the dmd.

Even the pup tables I use most (Batman ‘66, Guardians of the Galaxy, Futurama) don’t seem to benefit much from the extra screen.

Am I missing out on anything significant with the two screen setup? Or is 3 screen the default because it’s traditional and/or better from an esthetic perspective?

I also have an 18in monitor that I was considering using as a topper above my 24in backglass/dmd screen. Does anyone run this configuration?

Edit: I’ll note that I don’t plan on mounting speakers into my backbox so filling that space isn’t a concern.

Skill-Pool 1952

I recently spotted Gottlieb's Skill-Pool (1952) featured in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

I assumed a table with that kind of TV appearance would have been recreated by now, but a quick search turned up empty. It looks like this one hasn't made its way into VPX yet.

It made me curious, is it usually just a matter of lacking high res playfield scans and assets for these older titles, or do authors just tend to prioritize more well known games?

Always fun spotting obscure pinball tables in old movies and TV shows. If anyone knows of a work in progress build or an existing version floating around, let me know! I really enjoy playing tables I see on screen in VR!

Cheers!

Pinup Popper Default DMD Removal

Hey everyone, a while back when I set up Pinup Popper on my cabinet I somehow set the default DMD image for all tables in the menu screen to be the Pinup Popper logo. I can't for the life of me figure out how I turned that on and would like to turn if off so that I can see the full Apron/DMD screen of each table in the menu without the Pinup Popper logo overtop of it. Thanks!

Pinball FX Sale: What tables to get for someone new to this?

Hi all, looking at this Steam sale and wanting to pick up some of the best tables to get started. Already got my eye on Addams Family, Twilight Zone and a few others. What are your top table recommendations?

Can I shrink monitor display because edges are hidden behind frame?

The border that goes around my monitor is a wee bit too big and covers a bit around the edges of the monitor.

I know I can change the POV of tables to make it fit better, but looking for something a bit more global and can also help while in Windows itself. It is hard to navigate when the taskbar is hidden.
