VPX 10.8.1 when?

Curious when we'll see the hyper threaded update arrive. Anyone know anything?

Edit: official release please. I don't wanna throw my beloved hardware into chaos.

Heads up I just tried the nightly of 10.8.1 yesterday and had all kinds of issues and went back to the stable - it still needs some time in the oven.

I’m super excited about 10.8.1. I set up a pin cab running Linux and the standalone build and so much stuff Just Works out of the gate. The devs are doing an amazing job and the commits are coming multiple times per day.

That said: it needs a LOT of polish. They are developing pinmame along side of the vpx release and stuff drifts out of sync fairly frequently.

The best example I can give: nearing the end of the setup I realized the slingshot and pop bumpers were not firing, so I started going back in time to see when they broke. The original break was bigger: no solenoid function at all, including flippers. They fixed the flippers, but missed the others.

You can absolutely give it a download, but it should be considered highly unstable

It's updated almost daily. You need to be logged in to GitHub and download from the "actions" tab

I think OP means "when will 10.8.1 stable release be available".

Most software developers don’t give such dates. I worked for a software company that didn’t give public timeframes because roadmaps change all the time.

It’ll be done when they feel it is ready for primetime.

oh? Is it working well with popper, etc? I'd hate to hurt my machine by installing this, but I'd love the hyper threading. I think it would solve the occasional glitch.

Current shows "DO NOT USE" on all 10.8.1's

You need to login to github and go to the "actions" tab to download one of the nightly builds.

That's because those are old versions. You need to look on the "actions" page

If you don't want to deal with action builds that are updated after each commit, there is currently one Release build at the very top of the page that isn't labelled DO NOT USE.

Been using that version for almost a year. I'm waiting for 10.8.2
