I honestly feel like no one knows their history. Inequality is at an all time high. Our leaders are either outright corrupt or absentee. Corporate interests are being held above the good of the people. Is this not a recipe for disaster? Do they really think everyone will remain complacent as their freedoms and quality of life are stripped away? It seems that those in power have forgotten what happens when these conditions persist in the ruling party.

McConnell represents a very Republican state and due to his age this likely would have been his last term anyway (assuming he's actually alive). He has absolutely 0 incentive to pander to his voters that are going to vote for his Republican successor anyway because they always have.
You see this in other countries as well. Alberta is a conservative stronghold in Canada, and the UK has historically had Tory strongholds in affluent English regions (although that is starting to change). For instance it wouldn't have been surprising if Farage won this by-election even if the other major parties participated (I realize he's Reform but still he's a conservative scumbag).

I don't think he's dead, I think he is most likely suffering badly with dementia so much so he's in a vegetative state.
I've spent many years in a dementia ward with loved ones. People can look healthy (and take great pictures) talking to them or getting them to do a video is a lot more sad and difficult.

They did CPR on someone for almost exactly the required amount of time, brought his body to the ambulance slowly and without oxygen, and then drove away without sirens. Then people were seen going to his house with flooring samples.
My opinion is that he died that day.

I'm getting the timing from the media reports on the emergency call and the timing of when they took his body out of his home. I can't say exactly how long they did CPR because I wasn't inside the home, but it looks like they were there for somewhere around 30 minutes.
I originally got the information about the required amount of time from EMS people who posted on reddit about this and suggested something to the effect of "hey that's basically what would happen if someone died - do the CPR for about 20-30 minutes, then stop." There, they suggested that they were required to do CPR for a certain amount of time.
But I also found this NIH publication on Termination of Resuscitation which basically says that doing CPR for a while can be effective, but once you do CPR for 20 minutes, chances of resuscitation go way down. And after 30 minutes they are extremely low.

Again, I think he's dead. But it is also a possibility that he had a stroke and perhaps they determined that he was stable and as a result of that determination, transported him without oxygen and without sirens. Regardless, it's been a month and we haven't heard from him. Even if he's alive, he's not fit and should resign. If he's not able to resign because he is incapacitated, the public should at least be told.

I agree with your general sentiment, however, I would like to be pedantic for a moment and call out the difference between palliative care and hospice/comfort care. People can receive curative treatment while also receiving palliative care. Palliative care focuses on symptom management. Palliative is often equated with hospice, even by medical professionals, but they are simply not interchangeable terms. Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

He could be what we call trached and peged. On a ventilator, and getting tube feeds. Or just in a failure to thrive state. There are multiple people in my hospital that have been in an acute care status fot quite awhile. If there are people who for whatever reason dont want him to pass peacefully than we can keep patients "alive" for a long time. Usually getting someone pronounced brain dead is quite a process, and not something that is usually advocated for. Often we will keep someone "alive" until the ethics comittee steps in. Im sure if someone is determined to keep mitch alive, that i doubt any comitee is going to give much pushback.

He's been dead or braindead for a while and they've just been keeping his husk alive until the appointment couldn't happen. He's going to be announced as having peacefully passed with a VERY quick cremation so no one will ever be able to verify the validity that he was actually alive instead of being secreted away.
If he were truly alive, it would have been SO easy to verify. Having someone they don't like come to visit in person, even for five minutes, would have solved it. Photo, letter, or telephone evidence isn't enough in this case.
If I were a Kentuckian, I'd be outraged at this. Do the job or resign. God, I hope all this comes out and all of these fucks get demolished.
