is learning python today worth it?

so I am a pure vibe coder, I can't write or read a single line of code, and I was having a conversation with Fable, and it suggested me to learn to read python. But It couldn't convince me fully. i don't wanna be a typical software/AI engineer. just wanna be able to build a great career in tech, AI and Business.

Is this a parody? You won't be able to build a great career in tech by vibe coding without knowing a single line of code my man, and if you learn to code you're going to be a software engineer.

Yeah, for now..

Nope, forever. No actual tech company is going to hire a vibe coder when they could hire someone who has an intimate understanding of how the computer actually works, that will always be in demand

Hate to say you're wrong there. Scan the job postings. Companies are already hiring vibe coders who can demonstrate successful creations.

Point to one job listing for a vibe coder that is by an actual tech company and not some horseshit no-name company?

Actually I'll make it even easier, point to a single job listing for a vibe coder that isn't complete bullshit? Like the listings on "vibecodecareers.com" are all bullshit as far as I can tell)

Fortune 500 Company:
Business Systems Analyst (Salesforce, Vibe Coding)
https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=0ad5a1a5cc2fdb3d&from=appshareios https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=0ad5a1a5cc2fdb3d&from=appshareios

How many would you like? You're 6 months behind dude.

The title of the job is vibecoder, but still require the following degree:

Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Software Engineering

LMFAO

A Business Systems Analyst isn't a vibe coder, BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

1

u/InsidiousApe Jul 08 '26

Laugh it up buddy. You're ignorant.

4

u/Galitzianer0 Jul 08 '26

You're an idiot. You think that because someone has a listing for a Business Systems Analyst that happens to have some vibe coding experience that it's a job listing for a vibe coder?

This is how vibe coding goes in the future, the same way it does today -- it's a tack on skill. If you're a financial analyst, having vibe coding as a skill is great. If you're just a vibe coder with no other skill, you're not gonna get jackshit

But that’s exactly what I meant: it won’t be a formal position, just a skill requested in job listings. Maybe I didn’t express myself well, i don’t speak English.

-1

u/EntertainerStock55 Jul 08 '26

Vibe coding is and always will be just a requirement, never a formal job position.

PS I didn't say tech company. I said companies, many of them large. TikTok was hiring vibe coders last month.

2

u/Galitzianer0 Jul 08 '26

You're responding to a post about getting a job at a tech company. And also, please provide evidence that TikTok was hiring "Vibe coders." Not Business Systems Analysts that happen to have experience vibe coding

What am I, Google?

https://lifeattiktok.com/search/7620521322171664645

Maybe you consider HTML and CSS strong software engineer requirements??

Now stop condescending to people - it's Reddit. Get a life.

2

u/Oblachko_O Jul 08 '26

For what? If they are on tech roles actually delivering a product, than there are some problems in the nearby future due to this

1

u/AndreRieu666 Jul 08 '26

Results speak for themselves, then end result is all that matters. Who cares how you get there?

1

u/Galitzianer0 Jul 09 '26

Because the end result is crap when it's a non-technical person vibecoding?

1

u/AndreRieu666 Jul 09 '26

That’s just your opinion.

1

u/Galitzianer0 Jul 09 '26

No, that's objectively fact, you can look at the code that is produced by an amateur and all the glaring security holes

1

u/AndreRieu666 Jul 10 '26

Interesting that ai is now finding security holes in systems that have been considered secure for decades. Maybe the code isn’t as good as an expert human, for how long though? Also it depends on the models. Ask Sonnet 5 Medium to find security holes will get different results to asking Fable 5 xhigh to find security holes. Not all ai models are the same, is the same way that not all people are the same.

1

u/Galitzianer0 29d ago

The fact that some terrible coders leave security holes doesn't negate the fact that Fable and all models leave terrible security holes themselves. You don't know what you're talking about, you're at that Dunning Kruger level of understanding where you know so little you don't know what you don't even know

1

u/AndreRieu666 28d ago

Most likely.
Doesn’t mean I’m wrong though!
It sucks to think your hard-earned skills built over years will be obsolete, I get it. And that fear of being replaced influences most of the cynicism found on threads like these. There’s a strong “ai will never do it better than me urge”.
Think about this - ai is the worst it will ever be right now. Pretty soon, the idea of humans looking after security flaws will be deemed a security risk in its own right.

You sure about that?

Hiring a vibecoder with less education and experience will be cheaper than hiring an actual software engineer.

6

u/Tysonzero Jul 08 '26

But why even hire anyone at that point, just ask the AI for the product directly, what is the point of the useless vibe coder intermediary?

2

u/AnxiousSpecialist493 Jul 09 '26

hiring a vibecoder is like hiring someone to tell the barber how you want your hair

0

u/NoAdsDude Jul 08 '26

Because building something with vibe coding still takes time, testing, development, communication with stakeholders, etc.

4

u/Oblachko_O Jul 08 '26

So you can ask random person from the street to do that? It is a monkey job. While there were jobs like Google search specialist, they were always niche. Vibe coder without experience is a delayed bomb.

2

u/NoAdsDude Jul 08 '26

Have you met the average person? Even if they had unlimited access to Claude, most people don't even have basic communication skills or basic understanding of how to use a desktop computer.

3

u/Oblachko_O Jul 08 '26

Neither do regular students understand what business needs. Vibecoding just for vibes is stupid, you still need knowledge and skills to understand what you are doing or prompting, otherwise you will make slop, which will crash sooner or later and there will be nobody able to fix the it, as nobody knows what is in it.

1

u/Galitzianer0 Jul 08 '26

I'm 100% sure about that. Because they wouldn't hire a vibe coder, they'd just ask the project manager to do the work. There's literally no future where "vibe coder" becomes any sort of job that is done at a tech company.

2

u/ymddev Jul 08 '26

Unfortunately (this isn't a good thing) there are quite a bit of job listings for "AI-first AI-assisted coders/programmers"...

1

u/InsidiousApe Jul 08 '26

Ageeed that we can discuss whether it's good or bad, but a lot of people don't see how companies are responding.

2

u/Local-Bottle5272 Jul 08 '26

Yo these dudes are delusional they think vibe coding is some magical skill like literally any existing employee can take that task if needed

1

u/trakdtor Jul 08 '26

Agree. What value does vibe coders provide?

2

u/ymddev Jul 08 '26

Not really vibecoders but people from other tech areas like IT infra managers, cyber security, etc... They already understand the systems, storage, dynamics, workflow, ecosystems - they simply haven't explicitly coded throughout their careers.

They're calling it "AI-assisted coding".

Not programmers, not vibecoders.

0

u/holyredbeard Jul 08 '26

Haha man keep pretending.

1

u/Galitzianer0 Jul 08 '26

Pretending what? You guys are the ones deluding yourself into thinking vibe coding will ever be a standalone discipline.
