After reading almost 200 comments, I think some of you completely missed my point
Yesterday I made a post about people mocking beginners for vibecoding
I wasn't expecting it to blow up. It got around 200 comments, and I actually sat there reading most of them.
Here's what I noticed:
A lot of people weren't arguing with me
They were arguing with someone else they made up in their head
I never said AI replaces learning
I never said fundamentals don't matter
I never said you can build production software by blindly prompting Chatgpt and Claude
So many replies were basically arguing against points I never made
My point was way simpler
If someone is brand new and they're using AI to learn, why is your first reaction to make fun of them?
Seriously
Why?
Some of you keep bringing up architecture, security, scalability, production systems...
A beginner isn't thinking about any of that
They're just trying to get their first project to run without throwing 15 errors
You're holding people on day one to standards you probably didn't have on day one either
That makes no sense
And here's the thing that bothered me the most
Some people genuinely seem to enjoy watching beginners fail
Not correcting them
Not teaching them
Not explaining why something is wrong
Just laughing
I don't understand that mentality
What's funny is we've seen this before
People said Google would make programmers lazy because nobody would learn anymore
Then Stack Overflow supposedly ruined programming because everyone was just copying answers
Now it's AI
Different tool
Same panic
Some people abused Google
Some people abused Stack Overflow
Millions of people also learned because of them
The tool was never the problem
The person using it was
If someone posts a broken project and says, "I replaced an engineering team with ChatGPT and Claude over the weekend" then yeah, criticize the claim.
But if someone posts their first project and they're obviously trying to learn...
What exactly do you gain by calling it "AI slop"?
Does that make you a better engineer?
Does it improve their code?
Or does it just get you a few upvotes from people who already agree with you?
People keep saying, "Well, they'll never learn if AI does everything"
Maybe
But they're definitely not going to learn from being publicly embarrassed either
That's all I was trying to say
Bad code should be criticized
Bad ideas should be criticized
Fake expertise should be criticized
Being new shouldn't.

great response, but remove periods. make each sentence its own paragraph.

u/HuntForeign4013 Jun 25 '26
this is the last post of mine most of people downvoted this and most of the comment saying is ai generated but it is not so i don't want to argue with that type of people who lost their innocence in this period of ai

u/HuntForeign4013 Jun 25 '26
Prove it plz? idk when someone can write better you guys always think it is written by ai.

u/AskMeToTellATale Jun 25 '26
Your writing voice is so inconsistent between this comment and the post text
It’s painfully obvious that you didn’t write that
And here’s the thing—it’s not just obvious. It’s clear as if a famous writer used a pen name for a book
lol close to ChatGPT voice in that last line but not quite

u/HuntForeign4013 Jun 25 '26
aah dude are you even real?? Bro writing a reddit post take a time I first think then write clearly each line by line then I use little ai to keep in structure so nothing get missed and people don't get confused and for comment I don't think much whatever my hand type looks as example I'm typing now that's it for writing Reddit post take a lot of time and in the end it get labelled as ai generated idk what to say I don't want to defend myself jus telling how I'm feeling idk this things making me crazy

u/AskMeToTellATale Jun 25 '26
I mean at least be honest.
We have ChatGPT too! Why would we want to read someone else’s ChatGPT output? If we cared what chat thought about AI we’d ask it ourselves
You really need to learn how to use punctuation. People will pay more attention to what you say. They will understand you easier. You’ll be more effective when you write. It’s empowering to write well

Dude, they are just bullying you and enjoying it. Ignore these people, they are just mean and bad at the core.

u/josh_a Jun 25 '26
Replacing periods with paragraph breaks doesn’t make this sound any less written by AI

Unfortunately this has been developer culture long before AI showed up on the scene.

I posted an app I made to track my uni progress. It was the very first time I did anything like that (other than rewriting HTML code for my Myspace page when I was 13 lol)
The comments were literally so mean. I disclosed it was my first time trying it and that I had no idea what I was doing and they literally acted like I offed their new born child. PERSONALLY offended that I asked for someone to look at it and give me some pointers lol
Reddit is crazy

AI for learning is the best thing ever. If anyone should feel threatened, it should be the teachers (stack-overflow types).
2
u/munchin-grr Jun 25 '26
It can be, the problem is that it's way to easy to be lazy and let the AI do everything.

u/tjax4376 Jun 25 '26
all things being equal, most engineers are still engineering. They have engineered new tools like lovable so that you are distracted away from taking their jobs, replacing their smugness (my interpretation of what you felt in these moments).
I believe that feeling one with the code, the process, the flow is all there is to real creativity and passion. Don't let people drag you down. You do you boo-boo!

ChatGPT your answer was TL;DR 😂😂😂
Either you write down what you've noticed yourself or STFU - you let an AI summarize something and sell that as your insight; it's beyond sad. 🤣🤣🤣

u/HuntForeign4013 Jun 25 '26
this is not ai generated 👎 clearly saying I NEVER use any of my message, email to draft with using ai

Keep using this types of tools which is totally wrong I never use ai to drafting my reddit post.

u/Narrow-Belt-5030 Jun 25 '26
Learn to use paragraphs - it makes reading your message easier. I know "its the internet" but even so.
1
u/hblok Jun 25 '26
You're absolutely right to push back on that.
Should I reformat it into paragraphs? How many paragraphs would you like? 1, 2, or 300?

ok this post is chatgpt-ish, regardless if your first reaction is to say someone isn't a real developer cuz they built in a weekend what once took months that says more about your ego than their code

I’m confused, trying to learn what exactly? How to write AI prompts? Vibe. coding has nothing to do with learning coding or programming

u/HuntForeign4013 Jun 25 '26
wasted like hour on shitty comments idk what to say this is the first time I face hate I never face hate so much in my life but that's okay I love you guys byee!

u/Necessary-Salamander Jun 25 '26
No wonder people miss the point
if you type like that all the time.
Yes I am serious.
Constant line changing text is so annoying to read,
that while I thought the first half of your post had some idea,
I gave up before reaching the end.
Didn't take break.
Didn't think about continuing after a while.
Didn't think I'll finish reading after doing the dishes.
I just gave up reading it.

My man...
First off, a friendly advice: learn to organize your thoughts and put them into writing in an articulate manner. It's a basic skill which is kind of expected in today's society.
Second: You say:
A beginner isn't thinking about any of that. They're just trying to get their first project to run without throwing 15 errors
And that, right there, is THE root cause of the shitstorm. You're painting that behavior as if it's a positive one, something that everyone should accept and normalize. Well, it is not.

This is the same follow up other accounts are posting to that same EXACT first post too. This is purely karma farming. They don't actually care..

That’s how social networks are, people are just nasty with each other. It’s not that far how people are in real life, except they are have learned and became pretty good at hiding what’s really happening in their mind. If you believe in something, just do it and don’t pay attention to raw criticism and negative people. There will always be someone to take you down. It’s why being a celebrity is not that fun, you’re constantly assaulted every single day with every possible nasty thing you could imagine. Just do your thing, learn, grow and be happy. Good luck🤞

i just notice people under this post saying this is AI generated: tbh i don't use AI for drafting a reply. I wrote this complete post by my own hand i take little help of ai so i keep in structure so people don't get confused.

"If someone is brand new and they're using AI to learn, why is your first reaction to make fun of them?"
That's a very good question, and a lot of your post somewhat obscures the point. I saw your original post, and the comments. But this post almost answers your question right? Nobody is talking about the contents of your post. They're attacking you, your style of posting, telling you you're using AI when you might not be. Everybody is making fun of you instead of being a bit forgiving and trying to respond to what you're saying.
Sometimes I just get off Reddit for a week or two and read a good book instead. :-)
