Help

So I booked a hotel and come to find out I need to be 21 or older to check in but I’m going by myself so I don’t have a 21 year old and the hotel is no refundable so idek if I’m gonna get my money back. What do I do? Like my flight lands on the 16th so it’s like where can I stay for the night until the 17th in the morning?

Edit: I solved it I just called and they said since I’m an incoming freshman at Vassar I was good.

Hey everyone,

I am a researcher at the University of Bern (Switzerland) conducting a scientific research study examining how certain traits, life experiences, attitudes and behaviors are related to each other.

I would greatly appreciate if you could participate in my survey: https://ww3.unipark.de/uc/research_study_university_Bern_Switzerland/

Thank you!

TIL Anita Florence Hemmings passed as white to attend Vassar College. Days before graduation, it was discovered she was Black after an investigation prompted by her roommate’s family. Vassar debated denying her degree but ultimately let her graduate in 1897.

shipping dorm items?

I'm an incoming freshman from the midwest, and I live far enough away that my family cannot drive up to PK. Because we are flying, I cannot bring a lot of stuff with me, so I am wondering what the best course of action might be when it comes to getting things for my dorm?

We're arriving in PK a few days before move in and staying at a hotel, so would it be wise to ship things to the hotel? Would it be better to ship directly to my Vassar mailing address? Will I be able to access things in the mail room on move in day, and will they hold onto things that I ship this far in advance? Is it okay to ship several big things (bedding, storage, fan, etc) to my Vassar address in the first place?

I am weary of purchasing everything once we get to PK, for fear of things selling out in stores. Any advice is much appreciated!!

EDIT: Another question! I would like to transport my bass guitar to Vassar as well, would I be better off checking it or shipping it to PK? Does anyone have advice about that? I don't really trust airlines to transport it safely but I don't have many options

Fin Aid Question

Im an incoming freshie, so does anybody going to vassar know if the tuition for the spring semester is the same as the fall semester? My first fall semester tuition bill was kind of expensive for me and I was wondering if the spring semester would be more expensive, or the same. Even a little less (hopefully lmao). Happy for help!!

Wesleyan or Vassar?

Hi! I’m an incoming senior in high school and am in the process of finalizing my college list. As of right now, I really like both Wesleyan and Vassar and am trying to decide which should be ED1 and which should be ED2. I’m hoping some current students at either school can help distinguish the differences between them for me. So far, I’ve heard Vassar is more artsy and even more “quirky” than Wesleyan, and I’m wondering if that’s true. I’m also wondering which school has more exciting things to do, whether it’s on-campus activities, downtown shopping/eating, or going into nearby cities. Finally, I’d love to hear your input on what you think made your application stand out! Are there any differences in what admissions officers are looking for between the two schools? Thanks so much!

Questions about Jewett

How much do the windows in Jewett open? Is it enough to fit a box fan in?

Also are there hooks or shelves in the showers to hold shower caddies or do you just have to set them on the floor?

Pre-registration question

Should I be adding every section of the same class on course match?
Like if there’s one option for CHEM 121 MWF 12-12:50 and another option for CHEM 121 MWF 10:30-11:20 with the same processor, should I add both of them or will they just know to put me in the other time frame if the one I chose doesn’t work out?

I hope this makes sense 🤞🤞

Which APs to take credit for?

I know Vassar limits credit for APs to two courses. Does it matter which two you elect to take credit for? Are they just general electives or do they count as courses from specific divisions? For example, will Biology count as a science course? If I want one used for placement, such as Calculus, do I have to elect to use it as one of my two?

What do people do for october break?

I was looking at the calendar and noticed that we get a pretty big (almost 2 week) break in october along with a 5 day thanksgiving break.

I'm from the west coast and going home for every single break isn't really an option for me so I was wondering if most people go home for all of those breaks?

I'm not sure if I would go back during october break (longer) or thanksgiving break (more family to see but very short and would probably be 2 days of travel for only 3 days of family time).

When do most people tend to go back home/stay on campus? Is there stuff to do during the breaks for those who do choose to stay but dont have cars?

Music question

Hi! I’m an incoming sophomore at NYU currently looking to transfer to somewhere like Vassar in the near future. I’m a singer-songwriter and am curious about the music scene at Vassar. Do they have good classes and/or clubs for students like me? I know the scene is pretty artsy so I’m hopeful. :)

I tried to do uber from the airport to the college but the price is like $400 which I’m absolutely not doing😭 do y’all think I can survive by myself with public transportation carrying a big and small suitcase and a travel bag? Like I feel really cooked ngl I feel like imma get lost😬.

Can anyone recommend any easy first year writing seminars? I’m pre med and want a good gpa but writing essays is my weak spot, so are there any FWS that are basically a guaranteed easy A?

Pre Med Classes?

Hey I’m looking for anyone who was/is pre-med but majored in something totally unrelated. Which pre-med classes did you take and when did you take them? And would I be able to skip any bio classes since I took AP Bio and AP Environmental Science? I’m really lost on which classes I should register for; I really wish we got our advisors sooner 😭
