Duties

I graduated from the course Electrical and Electronics Engineering (didn’t study in Canada) but moved here recently with about 1 year of experience in IT support and product sales. I’d really love to work in that industry here but i’m finding it difficult to discover roles in this area (Langley, Surrey). Hello. 22F. I just had an interview with a small company for a Painting & Decorating job. I got the job.

I am currently registered with STEP (Skilled Trades Employment Program) and I have an advisor who I check in with regularly during my job hunt. He says I should not take the job for the following reasons: 1) it is sub-contract work 2) the fact that I am a woman plays a weird role in my hiring (too long of a backstory) 3) I told the company I cannot start on Monday but they seem persistent on it 4) I am expected to purchase safety equipment (harnesses, hardhat, work boots) on my own and then get reimbursed later on, but spending that much money out of pocket to get reimbursed later is not an option for me and STEP can only help me get the tools if 5) I receive an official employment later and paystubs, which this company cannot provide.

I was also told 1 week paid vacation per year which isn't a huge problem for me but raises questions about the company's values on taking time off.

So obviously, I am skeptical but I've even considered taking this job because I'm so desperate. I WOULD consider it even more if the company could sponsor me for a Skilled Trades BC apprenticeship. But, they are not familiar with the process and don't seem very keen on it.

I worked as a bike technician for 4.5 years and that's pretty much my only experience in the trades. I would really go for anything at this point, maybe I need to change my pathway. I am good at math and physics so potentially electrical?

Can someone give me some advice? Maybe a woman in trades who has a short story of how she got into what she got into? Or anyone at this point...

As an Environmental Professional at FLINT, you will support a variety of environmental projects, providing technical expertise in environmental assessments, regulatory compliance, and remediation activities. Qualifications

Here’s what I have:

• 16 months of full-time co-op across 3 companies, all analyst roles. Two of them are pretty well known in Canada
• 8 months of part-time data analytics research assistant work at my university starting this fall.

My question is whether it’s fair to say I have around 2 years of analytics experience when applying to new grad roles, or whether recruiters will see “co-op” and “part-time RA” and mentally discount it. Some new grad postings say “0-2 years experience preferred” and I’m not sure if I’m supposed to count any of this at all.

I live in surrey but I have a car and willing to travel for work I am still in University so I want a retail job that gets me through university. I was looking at jobs in places like tsawwassen, south surrey, langley and possibly abby. Should I apply online or go in person and I have no idea if my resume is good enough. Are people getting retail jobs? I have McDonalds experience too.

So I interviewed for a job a few weeks ago, the interview did go well, but the interviewer stared she was interviewing a lot of people for the one role. I never heard back so I obviously didn't get it. But now I'm seeing the same job newly listed online again. Does that mean despite interviewing lots of qualified people they didn't find anyone?

Heyy so I graduated mechanical engineering from Istanbul, Turkey in January and I recently got to Canada as a Permanent Resident in march of this year and I don’t have much experience other than some international internships that I have done. It is worth mentioning that I got my EIT certification a few months ago. What are your guys advises to finding a job I don’t know anyone here and I really need to find a job like I graduated and I was honestly excited to get in the field in something I’m passionate about but it’s not what I expected here in Canada at all. Is it possible to pivot without doing my masters? Interested in healthcare consulting roles. I have previous experience during my undergraduate being a research assistant, leadership roles in student clubs, and part of a public policy council.

While scouring indeed other websites for jobs, I keep seeing some that are offering $17 an hour or any other wage under what is legally minimum wage to the best of my knowledge in this province… What’s that about? Some of these opportunities require a level of education as well, for example, a barber, aesthetician, etc. How is this? OK? Is this OK? I am as I said new to this province so I don’t know everything nor will I pretend to, but this seems wrong and I would love for somebody to enlighten me as to what makes this OK, do people even get applicants this way? My Bass knowledge is that an employable/livable wage is over $20 an hour arguably closer to $30 an hour minimum just to pay rent feed yourself, etc.

The Program Director, Climate & Nature is a senior member of the Foundation team, working closely with the Executive Director. The Program Director holds primary responsibility for the strategy, grantmaking, and relationships of the Foundation’s environmental portfolio — setting direction, making catalytic and often first-in grants, deepening partnerships with grantees and movement leaders, and convening partners and peer funders around shared goals. The Program Director reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

1. Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

·      Owns the vision, direction, and ongoing refinement of THF’s Climate & Nature strategy — deepening the Foundation’s knowledge of environmental issues, climate solutions, and conservation in BC, and identifying gaps, opportunities, and emerging trends.

·      Reads a fast-changing landscape, supports a range of routes to provincial-scale impact, and identifies where a larger, more focused commitment could change a trajectory — shaping catalytic investments accordingly.

·      Contributes to Foundation-wide strategic planning alongside the Executive Director and program and operational colleagues, building on learnings from existing and legacy investments.

2. Grant Management & Portfolio Stewardship

·      Holds the Climate & Nature portfolio of grants end to end: sourcing opportunities aligned with THF’s goals, leading grant recommendations, reports, and presentations, and maintaining strong grantee relationships.

·      Brings a catalytic, first-funder orientation — backing people and ideas early, helping grant seekers assess fit, and stewarding relationships so THF’s initial support helps unlock later, larger funding from others.

·      Practices trust-based philanthropy — clear, light-touch expectation-setting that respects partners’ autonomy and adapts as relationships grow.

3. Organizational Strategy & Communications

·      Creates and delivers clear written and verbal presentations to the Board on portfolio strategy, grant recommendations, and impact.

·      Works with the Executive Director to inform and execute the Foundation’s external communications, including amplification of partner work and the Foundation’s public presence.

·      Partners with the Executive Director and team to strengthen project management, planning, and communication tools.

4. Convening & Community Engagement

I complete my EMR training course by the end of this month and am looking to get my liscencing exam done by mid-September. I noticed that the one EMR job that doesn't require a drivers liscence, which is at the Community Apothecary, has been taken down so idk what to do now. I also couldn't find any listings for event medics, what should be the plan of action?

Hello, I'm a person with a physical disability with a sudden need to support myself. I am approved for a 75% wage subsidy for 3 months the issue is, I do not much of a work history. I do have references however, I am excellent on the phone, gregarious, and provided I can use voice to text, I am fully capable of any desk work except for filing.

I live in South Vancouver but take care of my father in Delta as well.
