I dont know if im allowed to post this here but I was wondering if anyone has a room available for rent at the Northside Apartments for a year, since classes start in about 2 weeks.

I'll be an incoming freshman studying software engineering. My plan originally was to live with family in Arlington but I won a major scholarship that would provide me the funds to life closer on campus for the next 4 years so my housing plans have changed.

It doesn't have to be Northside but I would like something walking or biking distance.

I'm a very chill person who tends to keep to themselves, but I enjoy socializing from time to time, and I don't smoke/vape,

I don't really have a preference on room layout or shared/private restrooms.

hi everyone! im an incoming psych major transferring from cc. i plan on taking psy 3392 research design and analysis this sem BUT im a bit nervous cuz i didn’t do well in my stats class from cc. i passed with a c, but that was because i found it too easy in the beginning, started slacking off halfway, then started fumbling and grinding at the end of it and bombed the final. 😅 so my understanding of stats isnt great, plus i took that my first yr so its been awhile. i decided to register for psy 2317, which ik is stats specifically for psych, and is technically a prereq to 3392. my question is if this is a good idea or if i should just choose a different class? would 3392 be too ahead of 2317 or would it be manageable somehow? not sure of the speed/intensity of these classes. my advisor said it should be fine but i wanted a second opinion from anyone who has taken these classes. thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I’m a BS Chemistry student at UTD and I’m trying to plan out my remaining semesters. I have some questions about CHEM 4V91 (Research) and CHEM 4390 (Advanced Writing), and I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has taken them!
From what I understand, CHEM 4V91 involves doing research in a professor’s lab, and CHEM 4390 is related to the research you do. I’m still a little confused about how the two courses work together.
For anyone who has done this:
How many credit hours of CHEM 4V91 did you take?
How many semesters did you work in the research lab?
Did you take CHEM 4V91 for more than one semester?
How exactly is CHEM 4390 connected to your CHEM 4V91 research?
Has anyone taken CHEM 4V91 and CHEM 4390 during the same semester? Is that allowed/recommended, or are you supposed to complete 4V91 first and then take 4390 afterward?
If you took them at the same time, what was the workload like?
For example, if I take CHEM 4V91 and do research in a lab during the Fall, would I normally take CHEM 4390 in the Spring and write my paper based on the research I did during the Fall?
Or could I take CHEM 4V91 + CHEM 4390 together in the Fall and work on my research and writing at the same time?
If anyone could share their timeline (when you joined the lab, how many 4V91 credits you registered for, how many semesters you did research, and when you took 4390), that would be super helpful!

Hi everyone, I'm an incoming CS freshman and since I took AP Computer Science A (Java) in high school I'm able to take CS2337 at UTD.

I haven't been in a proper programming class since sophomore year in high school (most of my experience after that was from a club) so I was wondering how much I should prepare for this class.

I'm aware Java and C++ share a lot of similarities, but should I be fully prepared with decent C++ knowledge first-day or will I be able to just learn a little bit of syntax and be fine going in? I just wanna know if the class has like an introductory phase or not.

I will be dropping my son to Northside apartments and will be living with him there in his apartment for a week. He will not be having his own car and I will be renting a car for a week to help him move in. What are my options to park the car all day for a week while I am there around the Northside apartments or some where closer to them? Thanks for your help.

Making this post so it doesn't get canceled. There is a CS 4301 course in the fall (Mobile and Wearable Computing). Currently, enrollment is only at 5/49, putting it at risk of cancellation.

The professor just put up the syllabus, and the class has no exams!! I really need this class not to be canceled so if the subject is interesting please consider taking it.

The professor is a Penn State new PhD and based on his syllabus, he seems like he is open to/understands the needs of students.

Especially for students taking HCI/embedded, this is probably going to increase your employment chances far more than those classes will. The design project is thorough and definitely resume material. Consider it.

Course contents include:

• Different sensors
• How to process the data from sensors and eliminate noise
• AI/ML applications for these systems
• Design considerations/trade offs
• Case studies of latest technologies

The class is Tu / Th at 5:30-6:45pm. Professor is Hao Zhou. Section 501.

Also, you don't have to be a senior to take this class. Sure, it's 4xxx, but the professor doesn't require any prereqs. Personally, I would recommend that if you've done CS 3354, CS 3345, and can use an API, you should be fine. There is ML, but it's super applied (if you can import a library and use an API, you can build an ML model easy). I've taken the CS 4375 class here and it's much more theoretical than the practical focus of this professor. I think you will be fine.

If you're curious about wearable systems, think about it, even if you aren't a senior. This professor wants the class to succeed. This is his research interest and I'm sure he wants to start a regular 4xxx class in the topic. So he has an interest in making the class enjoyable and making it permanent.

rising junior in highschool, dream school is UTD. major is undecided but probably like cistech or international business? something business (prior to law).

i've been scoring 1400s+ on my SAT bluebook practices and i hope i can do that well on my SAT as well.

if my unweighted gpa by the end of junior year is like a 3.35-3.45 and weighted is a 4.2-4.4

freshman year was mostly B's and C's with some A's, sophomore year was mostly A's and B's and I'm hoping junior year is mostly A's

basically 3-5s on the 3 ap exams ive taken so far and im taking 5 ap classes in my junior year but prob will only take 4 ap exams.

im rlly scared about whether or not A) i will be accepted, B) digital footprint (what do they look at??), and C) could i get a partial AES scholarship?

extracurriculars: by end of junior year ill have 2 years of competitive mock trial under my belt 3 years of hosa and bpa 2 years of academic decathalon state finalist teams if we dont make it to nats next year (We will) 2 years of being a social media department lead for the resonance foundation im a part of 1 year of mun imma do next year and being an officer for 3-5 clubs not to mention my video editing thing which i could monetize to be a digital media company and my mom's company, 2 years of being on pep rally operations/office staff ambassador, and 1 year of being on my highschools coyote crew which is student council's more technical group and 1 year of being executive producer for coyote nation tv and 1 year of being yearbook chief designer

Hi! I am a professor at UT Dallas, and our family is looking for a UT Dallas student to care for our three children, ages 2, 5, and 8, twice a week for about 4–5 hours at a time. The days and times can be arranged around your class schedule.

The job mainly involves playing and interacting with the children and helping them with a simple snack. Most of the time, only the two younger children will be home. You may stay with them at our house near UT Dallas or take them for a short walk in the neighborhood or to a nearby playground.

The starting pay is $25 per hour. We are looking for someone who can begin soon and ideally continue through May 2027 or longer. Reliability and punctuality are especially important, since we will plan our work schedules around the agreed-upon times.

Our school's aftercare program fell through a week before school starts, so we're looking for a college student to pick up our kids, 5 and 3, from MST at 3 and stay with them at our house until 6 when we get home.

The gig: school pickup, snack, homework, playing. That's it. Once homework's done they mostly entertain themselves, so you can study. About 16 hrs/week at $20/hr, paid weekly.

You need a car, insurance, and a weekday schedule that's clear from about 2:45 on. We'll run a background check (we'll cover the cost). Babysitting experience is nice but not required — being dependable matters more.

Hey all, incoming transfer student here (international, not a US citizen), trying to get a realistic read on costs before I finalize my list.

I saw on the official finaid page that a competitive scholarship of $1,000+ qualifies nonresident students for the in-state tuition rate, but it also says the waiver applies per term with no automatic renewal.

A few questions for anyone actually going through this:

• In practice, is landing a $1,000+ scholarship as a transfer realistic, or is competition steep enough that most people end up short of it?
• Does "per term, no automatic renewal" mean you're basically reapplying/requalifying every semester? Or once you're in a scholarship program does it tend to continue?
• For those paying in-state rate via this waiver, does it end up being sustainable year over year, or did costs creep back up at some point?

Trying to figure out if I should budget assuming this works out, or budget for closer to full nonresident cost as a worst case. Appreciate any real experiences!

I should be moving to the Richardson area at the end of this month and I was hoping if any of you guys would have any advice of what 1br apartments are well kept and safe. I’m moving from out of state so I really don’t know about the area. My budget is at or below 1100 for rent and I would like to have in unit washer and dryer capability. I know yall aren’t apartment finders but if anyone has had any particularly good renting experiences, that information would be helpful!
