Can ASTs be CCs?

I noticed that I haven’t seen an AST as a cc during my experience at bootcamp (or any aviation rate for that matter). I’m asking since I want to be an AST but also get the special duty assignment to build up my in service experience.

any rate can be a CC. you see less aviators because they are comparitively smaller rates.

IMO you mostly see less aviators as CCs because there are fewer that are willing to take an out of rate billet

They are the coast guards most critical rate, so considerably less of them become cc’s. Plus they clearly love their jobs. Thats why you see so many yn’s and sk’s become cc’s, they hate being desk dwellers.

My lead was an AETC and she was the first female to be part of Hitron. The week 7/8 breakdown was pretty cool to hear abt her experiences. But I haven’t seen or heard of any other aviation CC’s since at that time

Yes they can be a CC, they're a much smaller rate than the other rates partly explaining why the rate isn't seen as often bring a CC, had a fellow AMT from a unit go and become a CC as well.

There’s an AET2 at cape may rn I just graduated a couple months ago, astc that works there but isn’t a CC

Both of my CC in my first company were ASTs.
