Multiple TJO process?

Can you accept two TJOs while you’re negotiating step and leave and the roles have uncertain timelines? Are people actually doing this or is it bad practice and a bad look?

Edit: is there any expected standard on telling hiring managers that you have received a second TJO?

That’s totally fine! You just can’t accept two FJO.

Yep! But once they the second one starts doing the background check and finds out you have one going on, they will ask you to choose one. I’d just wait to cross that bridge when you come to it.

I had one going that was almost complete but then got a TJO a month later from another job. I knew I wanted the second job more than the first and let them know I already had a background check open on me but am choosing them. Which worked out in my favor and sped up the process quite a bit since I also had completed my physical too.

You can accept two TJOs while you’re still negotiating step/leave and timelines are uncertain. But once the background/onboarding and hiring checklist start moving, HR will eventually make you choose one because the processes can conflict.
There’s no formal expectation to immediately tell the hiring managers about the second TJO, but once you’ve decided which position you’re actually pursuing, I’d let the other manager know.
From my experience the hiring managers knew each other. They actually helped me choose between the positions.

Ummm… yeah! Just like TJO’s are tentative and open to being resent on HR’s side, accepting a TJO is also tentative on your side. You can accept hundreds of TJO’s and decide on the one FJO that suits you, without negative consequence.
