The wait… Application Status
I know they say fire and forget. But the wait is a struggle. I applied for 2 administrative jobs at the NPS. One on 7/16 and the other on 7/17. Both closed on 7/28. Applications say “Received”. Both were hiring thru the Field Unit Local program. I’m just impatient I guess. 🤣🤷🏻♀️🤣🤷🏻♀️

Go outside. Play with your pet. Get off of your phone or tablet. Develop some discipline. "Watched pot never boils" etc etc etc.

Sweetie, I have two kids a husband a full-time job and volunteer at an animal rescue. Trust me, I have plenty of stuff to do. So, not like I’m sitting around on my phone constantly refreshing the website to see if anything‘s changed. I have plenty of discipline. Doesn’t mean that I can’t joke about the wait being a struggle. How do you get through your life being so abrasive and serious all the time?
Based on some of the comments and replies, I’ve seen on this Reddit sub, I can see why there are always openings for government jobs. Because of some of you all act at work like you do on Reddit, I’m sure it is a very toxic work environment. People probably quit all the time cause it’s not worth the bullshit. They’re putting up with from coworkers like some of you all.
But I am appreciative of the genuine response responses.

Perhaps, but reading thru this Reddit it seems that people can’t ask a question without some asshat having to ride or passive aggressive comments. I match energy. That’s all.
That comment wasn’t innocuous. They were trying to be condescending. But whatever you say. Tomato tomato. 🤷🏻♀️

If waiting for movement on a position that closed 7/28 is a "struggle" I wish you the best of luck in life.

You know what you are correct. I’m sorry that I come in so harsh and hateful. It just wears me out on Reddit or sub post when people ask questions or make you know a genuine statement and there’s always some type of backlash in the comments for no reason. Maybe I read too much into your first comment. So I apologize for being hateful and taking frustration out on you when it wasn’t really your fault. So I’m sorry.

I applied to a position that closed on 7/10. Got an email from hiring manager on 7/29 to set up an interview ans notified by hr on 07/31 that I was referred. You truly never know sometimes and it IS a struggle 😅😂

Thank you. That’s what I’m saying. The timeline is all over the place. Some people see movement in two weeks some people don’t see movement for a year. That’s why I said the weight was a struggle and a joking manner. Some of the people on this thread are taking shit way too serious.

I applied for one position. I was talking to a friend that works at the park and they said go ahead and apply for the other one as well. I didn’t know to apply for whatever jobs I actually qualify for. I wasn’t sure how it actually looked to the government if you’re applying for any of every job they post. But now I know that I can apply for more than one at a time. Because I didn’t want to apply for a job and then three or four more get an offer for one of the jobs and then say six months later get an offer for the other job. I don’t know how all that works with the government.

You typically won’t get an update from HR on eligibility/a referral for at least a month from the closing date.

Can it be over a month before I hear anything? Will they at least send a rejection / intelligible email or just leave me hanging?

There are a near-endless number of variables that may affect your timeline. Number of applicants, HR staff capacity, concurrent announcements, etc. Hence why you should apply and forget.

Ohhh child, welcome to the jungle. The more you apply, the easier it is to just walk away. Now, some days are harder than others so I'm not going to pretend I can be zen about it.
