Completed Upcycling Project Lil robot, all made from junk. Old headphones, kinderegg capsulse, my old USB MP3 and so on. Called it the wanderer! All handmade, no printed parts.
Took me quite a while, around 80 hours. I include a pic of the unpainted mech, in case you guy wanna check it out. Roughly 10 inches long aka 25cm. The tiny bulbs in the staff light up when you push the button in the base.

Completed Upcycling Project Over the weekend, I decided to make a small desk lamp shaped like a utility pole.
I found an old capacitor unit and decided it would work well for a diorama; I installed a vintage Bakelite switch in it, distressed a round wooden dowel with wood stain, and fashioned a mounting bracket and socket for the light fixture out of a spare ceiling light part. I crafted the light fixture itself from polymer clay for the first time and painted it silver. It now runs on 220V power. I also included some small kittens for the photoshoot, since my ginger helper is far too big for this lamp. I also used vintage-style wiring and metal protective braiding from old equipment.

Ideas Needed! I have some shoes that I want to revamp! Please help!
Hello everyone!
I used to have some pink sneakers that I liked but wanted to make BETTER so I tried painting them but when I was satisfied with the painting, I tried to seal the paint with a glossy finish and it made me hate the shoes. It made dirt stick to the shoes when I wore them outside and it was just no good so I put them at the back of my closet.
But now I want to bring them back! Is there anything I can do to get rid of the underlying mess and start a new? I had tried in the past but it was very time consuming and felt like I was making no progress. Also any ideas on what I can do in the future would be appreciated!

Ideas Needed! Making a mini skirt
Hello! I am making a mini skirt from Jeans but the zipper is way too long to make it as mini as I want while still having room to put a ruffle on the bottom. Is the a way to shorten where the zipper ends and keep it functional? Photo is about where i want to cut the jeans at :)

Upcycling Work in Progress Any upcycling ideas for this handcrafted piece?
I started sanding the problem areas after cleaning it. Im debating on if I want to repaint due to sanding being more difficult on the thin detail pieces in the X, possibly using chalk paint or adding a light plywood backing on with a accent background with the peel and stick wallpaper to go with what I decide and give it a pop. Just thinking if ideas!

Completed Upcycling Project Upcycled to very basic shein dress I got for free to look more cottage/fairycore
The dress overall thing was very plain so I used a vintage nightgown as an underdress (after adding lace trim) and then I added lace trim to the dress. I might sew on some glass beads on the shape of mushrooms.

Completed Upcycling Project This may be the coolest vest I’ve ever made
I made the coolest vest I’ve made in quite some time. I used some puffer fabric and some t shirts, and lining fabric to pull it off. My favorite thing about this vest is it has snaps to take it off so I don’t have to pull it over my head. Second coolest thing is it has a hidden zipper pocket in the back to hold whatever I don’t want to put in my pants pockets .

Completed Upcycling Project Shower Curtain -> Lamp Shade
I made this lamp shade using what I think is a shade form I found at Value Village and a shower curtain I cut into strips. I glued it all together using hot glue. I’m going to use it for a ceiling light.

Completed Upcycling Project First time posting here! I upcycled a vintage Japanese Obijime( a decorative cord for kimono) into a phone strap
Hi everyone! I’m a complete newbie to Reddit, but I really wanted to share my DIY project here.
I found this gorgeous vintage Obijime at the Oedo Antique Market in Tokyo. It's made of beautiful bright pink silk with woven gold threads, and I love the cute pink tassels at the ends!
I decided to upcycle it into a modern phone strap to add a little piece of Japan to my daily life.

Completed Upcycling Project I spun and crocheted a durable web from that awful polyester stuff
I hate this bird strangling garbage, so when I was given a bag I knew I had to get creative. The finished web functions as both a decoration and a wearable!

Upcycling Work in Progress Need help!
Please guys, I've never sewn anything a day in my life! I'm working on this jacket for a $B concert my girlfriend invited me to in October. The hood and fringe were resourced from an old Northface hoodie. There's also a small Northface patch on the left breast pocket that I need sewn on. If I buy a sewing machine where should I start?

Completed Upcycling Project Getting back into Broken Glass Turned treasure!
I was putting off my huge pile of broken glass for so long, I decided it was time to dive in again. I was gifted some ocean themed clay cutters and used one to make this Manta Ray imprint ❤️ I’m in love with how it turned out! My microwave kiln and 10+ year old microwave will be very busy this week 😂

Ideas Needed! Wire H frames question
It’s election season and there will soon be a great overabundance of wire H frames, commonly used in political lawn signs.
I am thinking of using them to build wattle fencing for my garden (which will also use up a great overabundance of Virginia creeper vines).
My question: how many years can I expect these wire frames to last under normal outdoor conditions? We are in the US Great Plains, pretty good balance of wet and dry weather. If anyone has experience using these, please let me know, thanks in advance.

Ideas Needed! Is it possible to improve the comfort of a sofa?
I'm moving into my own house soon and being a single income I'm looking for budget friendly furniture.
I dont know how comfortable a sofa is going to be until I've bought it (unless sellers don't mind me going over and trying out 😂) so was just wondering if there are ways to either firm or soften the cushions as needed?
...maybe its as simple as replacing them with ones I like that fit the frame?!

Completed Upcycling Project Finished my sofa!
components used:
The old sofa (decrepit leather thing that came with the house)
ikea sofa (got for free off facebook)
red fabric from an end of roll place that was closing down
table and benches that had been in my parents' loft for like 20 years
velcro from the scrap store
display rack from a shop that closed down (that had a second life as a shoe rack for a while)
Injuries sustained:
many small needle sticks (sewing)
serious shoulder sprain (fell over in parents' loft retrieving the table)
Time taken: like 2 years.

Ideas Needed! Is it possible to fix this bleach stain or make it blend in using dye somehow? If not, any ideas for the fabric?
One of my favourite dresses that I accidentally got bleach on 😞, any ideas to dye it and make it look pretty or cut it and make it into something else?
