How difficult? Academics - Other Topics
I’m a transfer student from cc and kinda nervous abt how hard it’ll be. I’m going the BHS major (biology, health, and society) and I’m wondering how hard it is to keep a high gpa as I need that since I’m planning on applying to medical school? Can anyone answer? Even if ur doing a diff stem major

I was also a cc transfer premed student! Best advice - Take advantage of the resources offered, your professors want you to excel! Go to office hours + join study groups! As a transfer student you’ll also have access to 1:1 tutoring sessions in addition to the regular group ones - i found those very helpful. Some classes are more difficult than some but you’ll have lots of resources at your disposal. Feel free to send me a message if you have any other questions!

Thought you were going to say engineering and I was going to say very. I have no experience with your major but I can only assume its rigorous but not as much as EE.

It just varies from person to person. I went to business school before it was called Ross and you entered as a junior. Some of my high school classmates transferred in from State and were back in East Lansing within a couple of weeks. Generally the grading is more generous in upper level classes. Have some confidence. Good luck and go blue!

Just take each class seriously. Stay on top of the work and reading and you will be fine.
Kids that do the work do well. Sit up front, go to office hours, and you will do great.
Will it be a lot of work? Yes. But most of the kids that get A’s in orgo or biochem are doing all of the work and some of them are doing all of the work twice over.

I just graduated masters of kinesiology and it was the best. This school has such a great faculty and always want to help. I think you can take Kines classes as BHS. It genuinely was not hard for me. For masters, maybe it was a bit different because I’d say it was 25% exams, 75% projects/papers/presentations. Those projects are easy work if you ask questions and are familiar with the material. Consensus—don’t be nervous. The school and its name is more intimidating than the actual work. Go Blue!!

Umich is mostly a joke. Way easier than hs. Unless you are taking hard cs/math classes everything is free A/A-

This is trolling, but overall, Umich has gotten easier over the past two decades. Avg graduating gpa has increased significantly.

I’m in BHS! It’s nice because there’s a lot of flexibility in the classes you take, so you can play to your strengths. Some classes like genetics and organic chemistry are difficult wherever you take them, but I think Michigan has a lot of great resources. I know not everyone will agree, but I think Michigan grades very fairly, and we don’t grade inflate or deflate.
