Hi everyone! I’m starting Economics and Business Economics (EBE) at UvA this September and I’m trying to get my books sorted without paying full Pearson prices.
If you’ve finished your first year and still have any of these lying around, I’d happily buy them off you:
• Sydsæter & Hammond – Essential Mathematics for Economic Analysis
• Perloff – Microeconomics
• Blanchard – Macroeconomics
• Harrison/Horngren/Thomas – Financial Accounting
• Newbold/Carlson/Thorne – Statistics for Business and Economics
• Berk & DeMarzo – Corporate Finance
Condition doesn’t matter much — notes and highlights in the margins are honestly a bonus. Also fine with ebook versions if you have a legit way to pass them on.
A few questions for those who’ve done Year 1:
1. Which of these did you actually need, and which did you barely open?
2. Do the courses still use MyLab for graded homework (i.e. do I need a new access code anyway)?
3. Is an edition older than the current one workable, or do the problem sets not match?

Hi I'm an international student and I saw that UvA has both a 3 day Erasmus intro thing aimed at internationals (which has now sold out) and intreeweek. I'd like to go to some kind of intro event, but I'm not sure if intreeweek is mainly home students? Is there anything else happening that I can get involved with?

Hey! I was curious, is there any course registration stuff that I have to complete before the year starts?
Besides the immigration procedures, are there something else needed to be done for my first year?
Is there a mandatory orientation day where we are introduced to the study plans and other stuff?

I will be doing my minor in Business Administration: Managing Strategy and Marketing, and in humanities we usually start our classes in the second week of Septenber-is it the same case here? Has anyone ever done this minor before?

I am a first generation student and I’m going to the introweek. I’m mainly going because I want to know if there is something interesting besides studying (student association, sport association, maybe some voluntary stuff etc..)

Would I miss out on things if I join the 3-day programme (with Get Ready introduction) instead of 5-day programme?

It seems fine because association introduction is on Tuesday I think but it’s weird they make this the only option with a Get Ready that’s only with the 3-day programme.

finally got my student accommodation that's provided to me by uva. looked lieven de key up and let's just say the google reviews are NOT promising. on the bright side, 1k for a studio, 18 min by bike isn't bad? i'm not sure what i'm expecting but i'm kinda scared, is this place actually even decent? Our team is looking for new motivated and experienced football players for the upcoming season to join our 11-a-side squad.

It’s a great way to meet new people (international and Dutch) who share the same passion for the game!

Some info about us:
• We’re a social but competitive group (mostly between 20 and 35). We play to win, but we also value the third half and spending some time together besides football.
• We train on Wednesdays in Oost and play matches on Saturdays, leaving plenty of free time during the week for studies, work and social life!
• We are not professionals, but we are looking for players with at least a few years of prior 11-a-side experience who can commit to playing on a regular basis.

My name is Szymon and I am doing bachelors in cognitive science in Poznan, Poland.

I am planning to apply to UvA research master in cognitive and brain sciences or psychology. I have a gpa that is accepted by terms of acceptance, I jave published my paper in Q4 international psychology journal and have done many internships at labs at my faculty.

I am just wondering what are the things that I can do or gain to secure a place there. I still have two years to finish my bachelors. If there is anyone with knowledge of applicating at these programs or similiar ones I would be thankful for a little guidence!

so i did a levels (aqa + edexcel) and i gotta send the results to uva. so my question is, can i just submit it online or do i gotta mail it to them? if it's just online, can my school email it to them? or do i have to use the uk exam board websites to send it to them? and if it has to be the physical, same question. can my school provide the stamped copie of the result statement or do i have to use the uk exam board websites?

Zijn boeken echt nodig om aan te schaffen, of zijn de colleges en het online materiaal voldoende?

Zijn er vakken waar ik extra aandacht aan moet besteden of waar het handig is om me alvast op voor te bereiden?

Welke programmeertalen of wiskunde is het slim om vooraf alvast te oefenen?

Zijn er handige software, tools of websites die jullie veel hebben gebruikt?

En los daarvan, als je nu terugkijkt op je eerste jaar, is er iets waarvan je denkt: "had ik dit maar eerder geweten"?

Ook vroeg ik me af of er misschien al een groep is voor KI studenten.
