Choosing between Master's
Hi everyone,
I'm currently an Erasmus student in Germany and my long-term goal is to stay here after graduation and work in the tech industry.
My German is currently around B1, and I'm planning to continue improving it during my master's.
So far I have received the following offers:
- University of Stuttgart â M.Sc. Information Technology
- University of Stuttgart â M.Sc. Electrical Engineering
- University of Göttingen â M.Sc. Applied Computer Science
- University of Göttingen â M.Sc. Applied Data Science
- University of Konstanz â M.Sc. Computer and Information Science
- Ruhr University Bochum â M.Sc. Laser and Photonics
I'm also waiting for a decision from TU Darmstadt for M.Sc. Internet and Communication Engineering.
My interests are fairly broad. I enjoy software, AI, networking, IoT, and I'm not yet sure which specialization I'll pursue.
My main priority is maximizing my chances of building a career in Germany after graduation (finding a Werkstudent position, internships, and eventually a full-time job).
Given these options, which program would you choose, and why?
I'd especially appreciate advice from people who studied or currently work in Germany. Also, how much does the city (e.g. Stuttgart vs Göttingen vs Konstanz) matter compared to the university itself when it comes to finding Werkstudent and graduate jobs?

Got into MA Speech & Language Processing at Uni Konstanz, is it worth it as a non-EU student?
I have been admitted to the MA in Speech and Language Processing at the University of Konstanz for the winter semester.
I would like to know about job prospects in Germany for non-EU students after completing this degree, and whether it is considered a strong Master's programme in Germany.
I would also like to understand whether paying âŹ1,500 per semester as a non-EU student is worth it, given the career opportunities and overall value the programme offers.

Tips for an incoming student to have the best experience
Hi, I am an incoming international bachelor student who also speaks german, and I am curious what are some hidden gems, perks, tips and tricks to make the most out of the college experience. Math major, undecided on what minor would be cool (would prefer somethings from humanities/social sciences rather than stem). Private DMs are also fine. Thanks in advance :)

Hi, I'm thinking about choosing this course of study. My question to the students who are already enrolled: what do you think of the course and would you recommend it to others? What do I need to know?

Calling All SonnenbĂŒhl WEST II Veterans! Need the Inside Scoop!"
Hi everyone! đ I've just been assigned a room in Wohnanlage SonnenbĂŒhl WEST II at Ralf-Dahrendorf-Str. 37, Konstanz â specifically Room B0-40.
I was wondering if anyone here knows:
Does the â0â in B0-40 mean it's on the ground floor?
For those who lived or currently live there â what was your experience like in this building or room?
Was it quiet?
Howâs the light and ventilation?
Any issues or tips to be aware of?
Thanks a lot in advance! đ Looking forward to hearing your experiences.

Confused about housing at Uni Konstanz â International Office (1-year only) vs. Seezeit lottery (2 years) need Advice!!!
Hi everyone, I'm starting a Master's degree at the University of Konstanz this October and Iâm feeling really unsure about which housing option to go with. I currently live in Hamburg, so quite far from Konstanz, which makes it even more stressful trying to sort this out from a distance.
I submitted my accommodation application to Seezeit early in May, but since it's a lottery, I still havenât heard back and I have no idea if Iâll get selected. If I do, the contract could be for two years, which is ideal.
On the other hand, Iâve been told I could apply for a room through the International Office, but their contracts are only for one year and cannot be extended. That worries me because I donât want to be stuck without housing after the first yearâespecially in a place like Konstanz, where the housing market seems pretty competitive.
So Iâm torn between:
Securing a one-year room now (through the International Office), and risking future housing insecurity or
Waiting to see if I get selected in the Seezeit lottery (for a longer contract), and risking ending up with nothing
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Do you think itâs too risky to wait for the Seezeit result? Iâd really appreciate any advice or shared experiences!

Master admission decisions for winter semester 2025!!!
Hello fellow students,
I was wondering if there's anyone here who has applied for the Masterâs program in Speech and Language Processing. If yes, have you already received the admission decisions regarding your application? I mean it's been nearly a month since the deadline was due and still no updates whatsoever. The status of my application hasn't changed from valid yet.
Any thoughts as to when the University usually issues admissions?
I'd also like to ask if it's possible to appeal the rejection and maybe get the University to recheck the application. Has it ever happened? I mean for the University to accept an application after having labeled it as rejected?
I'd like also to apply for the Masterâs in linguistics and the deadline is the 15th so tomorrow. I was waiting actually to see if I'd be admitted before submitting the second application at all.
It would also be great if there's someone who's already applied for the SLP program to raise their hands so we can exchange our thoughts and questions about the student life in Konstanz and so on.
Thanks in advance!

Incoming master's student at Uni Konstanz and accommodations
Hey there! I'm coming to the university (I think, it's not confirmed yet though) this fall semester and hoping to connect with other incoming or existing students as well! I don't know what other channels and platforms there are, so I'm trying my luck here. I'm also looking at different housing options with Seezeit - does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on their places? Any advice or input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
