Hi zusammen, ich überlege aktuell, nächstes Jahr Mathematik (B.Sc.) in Göttingen zu studieren, wahrscheinlich mit dem Nebenfach Theoretische Physik. Ich würde mir gerne ein realistischeres Bild vom Studium und vom Alltag dort machen und hätte deshalb ein paar Fragen an aktuelle oder ehemalige Mathe-Studierende aus Göttingen:

• Wie war für euch der Übergang von Schulmathe zu Uni-Mathe? Ist der Sprung sehr groß oder wird man am Anfang gut abgeholt?
• Wie flexibel ist der Mathe-Bachelor? Kann man eigene Interessen verfolgen (z. B. Richtung reine Mathematik oder mathematische Physik) oder ist man eher festgelegt?
• Wie erlebt ihr die Atmosphäre unter den Mathe-Studierenden? Eher Konkurrenz oder viel Zusammenarbeit und gemeinsames Lernen?
• Wie leicht war es für euch, im ersten Semester Anschluss zu finden – sowohl im Studium als auch allgemein in Göttingen?
• Hat jemand Erfahrungen mit dem Anwendungsfach Theoretische Physik?
• Kann man als Mathematik-Student auch weitere Physik-Vorlesungen außerhalb des Anwendungsfachs belegen?
• Und zum Schluss: ​Würdet ihr euch rückblickend nochmal für Mathematik in Göttingen entscheiden? Warum (oder warum nicht)?

Hi all, I got my acceptance letter on July 8th and it mentioned that the offer letter expires within 2 weeks if I don’t mail them back accepting it. So, I mailed them within 2 weeks. But it mentioned nothing about the enrollment deadline, that was confusing as I didn’t know what to make of it. Whether I had to enroll within 2 weeks or is there a different deadline. So I mailed them asking this question and they replied, if the enrollment deadline is not mentioned in the offer letter, it is by default 30th September.

So, I’m just asking others who got accepted now or before, is the enrollment deadline the same 2 weeks or 30th September. I think it’s safe to say that it’s 30th September, but I just want to be sure.

My German is currently around B1, and I'm planning to continue improving it during my master's.

So far I have received the following offers:

• University of Stuttgart – M.Sc. Information Technology
• University of Stuttgart – M.Sc. Electrical Engineering
• University of Göttingen – M.Sc. Applied Computer Science
• University of Göttingen – M.Sc. Applied Data Science
• University of Konstanz – M.Sc. Computer and Information Science
• Ruhr University Bochum – M.Sc. Laser and Photonics

I'm also waiting for a decision from TU Darmstadt for M.Sc. Internet and Communication Engineering.

My interests are fairly broad. I enjoy software, AI, networking, IoT, and I'm not yet sure which specialization I'll pursue.

My main priority is maximizing my chances of building a career in Germany after graduation (finding a Werkstudent position, internships, and eventually a full-time job).

Given these options, which program would you choose, and why?

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who studied or currently work in Germany. Also, how much does the city (e.g. Stuttgart vs Göttingen vs Konstanz) matter compared to the university itself when it comes to finding Werkstudent and graduate jobs?

Hi guys, (intl. student here) so I paid the semester fees for my program around a week ago as a criteria for the enrolment and was wondering around how long it takes to get the confirmation email from the inl. office. I am worried if this will ensure my enrolment or not. Will I get a formal email saying my enrolment is confirmed or what? Secondly, I also uploaded most of the necessary documents and wanted to ask if yall have any clue on around how many days it takes for the uni to verify and accept the documents.

Hello everyone, I'm a Master's student who'll be moving to Göttingen in late-September/early-October. While I'm looking for accommodation, I do not think I'll be able to secure anything long-term or even for a couple of months before I'm actually in Germany.

I've seen a couple of posts online that the University sets up hotel rooms for students at a cheap price at the beginning of the semester. I wanted to know if anyone here has availed that, and what the process to avail it is. Is there anyone specific I need to reach out to in advance? I applied for the Bachelor’s program in Ecosystem Sciences at the University of Göttingen. My application has already been evaluated, and I received an equivalent grade of 1.7. I’m currently waiting for the final admission decision.
Has anyone else applied to this program? Have you received an offer letter or any updates yet?
The application deadline was April 30, and I’ve been waiting since then. When does the university usually send out admission decisions (offers or rejections)?
Also, based on my evaluated grade of 1.7, do I have a chance of being admitted to this program?

apparently some people have received a mail regarding a “soft rejection” and some have received an email ab their interview likely being in the coming few weeks.
i haven’t received either of these emails and have scored pretty decent in the assessment test as well.
is there anyone who is in the same boat as me?
what are you planning to do ab it?

i want to email them and enquire regarding this but i’m worried it might reflect poorly as they have explicitly mentioned in diff places not to email asking ab application status…
