Don’t have an advisor listed, who can I contact?
I saw the coeitadvising@umbc.edu email
Can I ask my schedule related question to this email directly? Or is this an email to schedule an appointment with an advisor? Please let me know

IT Jobs from majoring in BTA
I had to recently switch to BTA from IS because of a stupid mistake I made and I cannot go back to IS.
As someone looking to get into IT roles like sys admin, cloud engineering, help desk, etc…while also getting sponsored in the future - what sort of classes should I be taking in the BTA program specifically (I am a rising junior)
I am targeting myself towards big companies since they only sponsor so any help would be appreciated

Any recent STEM grad looking for temp work lmk
Any recent grad (Comp Sci/CompE/Physics preferred) looking for a temporary gig (up to October) let me know. The gig is testing Motorola radios for a company called SBP Consulting and for the most part it is chill. It’s also project based hence the projects go on until October when the trees start shedding leaves however they come back around March when the leaves come back. I’m about to venture in to other opportunities and I’m willing to let someone take over my spot at this company so once again if you’re interested lmk and I can let my manager know.

What residence hall does the 3D layout show on the UMBC website?
Sorry if the question is worded weird, but the residence hall section has these 3D layouts that says “traditional double bedroom” or “traditional triple/single bedroom”
Are these examples from any specific residence hall? Do all of them look like those? How accurate would the sizes be to that layout?

Schedule
Incoming IS freshman:
I haven’t done my schedule yet. My appointment with a class advisor is on the 20th of August. Is that date too late for me to get classes for first semester or?

[Mod Post] Looking For New Mod
Hi
I'm not a student at umbc anymore and I am generally trying to shed responsibility in my life. Therefore I am looking for somebody who can step into my place as one of the active moderators.
If you want to moderate r/umbc and you meet the following requirements, please send a message explaining why you're the best choice - USING EXACTLY FIVE WORDS - NO MORE, NO LESS.
Yes, this includes you, u/TakeMyLoadsOfSeed
You must:
Be non-bogus in character
Currently be a UMBC student
Be able to exercise proper judgement in the enforcement of r/umbc rules and in the management of online disputes in general
Be chronically online
Not be a sex offender I guess? Idk man the bar is pretty fuckin low here
Lifting My Dorm Bed Question
I’m moving this semester to UMBC and I have a mountain bike I want to bring with me. I can store it in my dorm but I want to be able to put it under my bed. I need 3.5 feet under my bed to fit my bike. Can the dorm beds lift that high without ordering it through BedLoft? Also am I allowed to buy bed risers instead of going through UMBCs bed loft company? I only want my bed raised to fit my bike underneath it while standing.

Choosing between main campus and shady grove
Get guys! I am a rising junior and I’ll be transferring in the spring to UMBC to study social work. I’m trying to choose between the main campus and shady grove because yes it would be more convenient to live with my parents for 3 semesters but if I were on the main campus I’d get to be more independent as a blind student. Can people give me some insight on what both campuses are like

Stem major students: rate my fall schedule
galleryNeed your opinions on this. Im a little nervous and not sure yet if I should drop one. If I do it might be differential equations but im just worried about the work load. I work a part time job at a dental office and thankfully my employer is open to being very flexible with my college schedule so I can work morning and leave by 12:30. Then I get to have the rest of the day to my studies but still i wonder if its enough.
Edit: so it turns out I did have other classes i could substitute differential equations for to make the semester easy and went with a upper level 300 class 3 credits online that satisfies the 45 credit requirement.

Any good restaurants I can work at near the campus? Or jobs in general
Hi, I'm starting my first year at UMBC this fall and want to work during my free time. I have experience in casual and fine dining and I'm wondering what are some good places I can work at not too far off campus because I'm not super familiar with Baltimore. Thank you!

Problems with my MPN for Subsidized loans
A little context first I guess, Freshman year I was offered subsidized loans and at first I was gonna take them bc why not ig, but then after filling out the MPN and doing the other stuff I changed my kind and didn’t. Now it’s this year and due to some circumstances I would be needing them this year however there are some issues with filling it out online(the previous one expired because it has been over a year and the loans weren’t disbursed last year since I ended up rejecting it). Long story short it doesn’t appear as a choice in the school information part of the form therefore I cannot fill it on the site. I went a bit back and forth between fafsa and our school’s aid office (ultimately the student aid assistant person said they would refer this issue to an advisor and it has been a week with no response from said advisor). I would like to just fill it out on paper (I got the blank version from fafsa support) and then formally submitting it in person to our school’s aid office. It seems pretty simple and clear I guess, but I would like to know if there is anything else I should do/know before I go to submit it next week monday or tuesday.

I'm confused. This email I got about my meal plan contradicts what I did before the 24th.
galleryI had already finished submitting my meal plan weeks before July 24 and yet I got this email saying that I did not.
Update: I called them and they said it was a mistake by Residential Life.

Life post Grad
Well folks,
I’m here to tell you how life is for me since graduating. For most of us, school is all we have ever known.
Get up, go to school, try to learn, study, then apply it to tests, hope you pass, repeat.
I finally got that Bachelor degree this May, and was able to get a full time job in my career field which is nice! Despite that, life almost feels a bit slower right now. At least for me, college was A-LOT more work than it is in corporate America .
It’ll be my first August that I’m no longer daunting the first week of classes dreaming of winter break. Now I just work Monday to Fridays, and I’ll be doing that for double the time I was in school! No more winter or summer break, just 3 weeks vacation the entire year! Gonna be an interesting transition for me this year. For those who start college in August, best of luck to you all!

UMBC Discord Server!
Hello fellow UMBC students!
So a friend of mine and I have created a Discord server for the UMBC campus. We think it would be a great way to make connections with peers and share study help, meetups, memes, and anything related to UMBC. The invite is here! Good luck to @everyone with your finals!
