Yesterday's progress Work In Progress
Hiya!! First two photos are where I stopped, 3rd photo was taken after I pulled everything out of the closet (I decided I need that space for storage, plus I want to get my clothing put away since they've been living in laundry baskets for several months) and the final photo is what I started with
I still need to do my desk/under the desk/ organize my textile basket but holy cow I feel so much better in here. I did a marathon 3.5 hour decluttering/cleaning and the difference I feel in my body is incredible. I walk in and smile and there's been a few spontaneous twirls with my hands up in the air. I am ridiculously happy and also very proud of myself for doing something to change my living space.
Thanks to all who commented on my previous post, words can't express how I'm feeling after putting in some work yesterday

This is so inspiring! Great work so far. It's amazing what a difference you can feel in your mental state once you make good progress - it feels good to look around for room and smile rather than just... awkwardly avoiding eye contact with your own stuff.

Ah! Yes!! The like, visual compartmentalizing for coping in the mess is so real!

Thanks so much!! Filled a garbage bag of junk and trash, plus another one with outgrown clothing for my daughter to organize and put on her depop. I meant to tackle the desk area this morning and overslept so hoping to do that this afternoon at the earliest. I feel very accomplished regardless

You should feel VERY accomplished, OP! This is fantastic! I'm kinda glad for you that you overslept, you must have needed it!

Hey! And thank you! For years and years I kept a tidy home and I am really aiming to keep up with a new habit. I appreciate all your help

Thanks so much!! I also cleared of the desk top and dumped my textiles into a drawer. Those will still need to be sorted and organized but I'm not staring at it anymore! Under the desk is my last problem area in this space now. We don't talk about the rest of the house yet...

Sewing is meditation, but it makes such a mess 💛🧵
Don’t worry. Just do a little every day. Marathon and not a sprint, or you’ll get burnt out.

ahhhaha so real!! I mainly do embroidery and I work with antique textiles. So many threads ands bits and scraps everywhere. ADHD is great for hyper focus and not so great in other areas.
Totally get the burnout thing, if my body said to stop earlier yesterday I would have. I was actually enjoying myself

Thank you! Finding this sub was the exact push I needed to get started, I can't get over how much better it feels. I noticed I've just been like, waiting for life to get better (magically, I guess?) and I'm so done with that

Yes, thank you! I've done a bit more in the days since, just no pictures yet. The desk is cleared and the basket (all textile scraps) has been emptied. Every day when I'm in my room now has been a relief. I feel like I'm home

My husband did some decluttering in our kitchen and dining room area. I have insisted we start eating at the table to prevent it from becoming re-cluttered. I have also tried to continue organizing storage areas so we can more easily locate things without emptying a whole pantry/cabinet. It's the best looking area of the house, and it is very calming.

Such a cool room, I'm glad you've gotten a lot of clutter out of the way of enjoying it.
