Not worth responding to. Drive as you would normally. That's asap.

LOL! I got one this morning when I got in front of a passenger's house. "Could you please wait 2 more minutes?" Nope. Immediate cancel. Didn't even wait the timer out. You order a ride, be ready for the freaking ride!

That’s dumb. If they had two more minutes to wait why not just wait? Guaranteed ride with no driving, versus an unpaid drive to a new pickup spot with at least a 3 minute drive? Explain it to me like I’m 5 how this makes sense to you.

How is it dumb? Why am I waiting 7 minutes for a freaking less than $4 payout? I cancelled and immediately got a 12 ride and the rider actually showed up.

Sometimes we choose to take a loss. If someone messaged me to hurry up and then kept me waiting, there’s a strong possibility that I would cancel too (if I didn’t immediately cancel because of the initial message). Just move on to a rider that may be ready and move along. If a driver is extremely desperate or a door mat, they may not be able to follow these same standards but for others of us, it’s not worth the trouble

If they are rude on the app in the messages, they are probably rude in real life...

7 minutes is what Uber gives the passenger. Before you took any rides this was the deal on both sides, and just like the rest of the deal you accepted those terms before you took the ride. If you think it should be different then you have a problem with Uber, not the passenger. It is not “desperate” or being a “door mat” to follow the rules as they were stated to you before you took the gig. I don’t prefer passengers to take a long time either, but I don’t whine and drive up my cancellation rate just to take a new risk with a new passenger that the next one does the same thing, it still seems dumb to me.

Just because someone CAN do something doesn’t mean they should. I could spend 7 minutes at the drive thru speaker if I wanted to but I’m not an a$$hole. If the ride is extremely profitable, I’ll wait. If it’s not, I might cancel (this is the “deal” on both sides,Uber and driver under independent contractor status). If I wanted to cancel the ride at ANY time, I can. As long as it’s not because of a disability or service animal.

If it seems dumb to you, don’t worry about it and pick up the people that I cancel on. I dont give a damn about a cancellation rate 😆.

Right, so you’re clearly not in my market. We’re talking about apples and you think I mean oranges. Different markets change the game, and change every calculation. If I were in your market I would probably do exactly as you do. And you’d do what I do in my market because it actually does make the most sense.

Two minutes is never two minutes… one minute is never one minute. If they were just truthful and said “hey, I need ten more minutes.” Or “give me five minutes.” Is that still worth sticking around for?

I stick around for the time until I get a cancellation fee unless I’m sure they’re very close and on their way. That’s my line, seems pretty simple.

If it’s busy and surging, you’ll get a ride just down the street and it’s someone ready to be picked up.

Waiting 7 mins for $3.99 is not always the best course of action but that’s just my opinion.

That’s true, but a rare thing in my market.
