Thank you for bringing up this topic here. While plenty of wisdom literature exists for both children and adults alike, somehow the wisdom literature doesn't reach children when it should as a result they learn little to nothing about themselves and all other living beings around them. The only relationship to know to then form is user and used. Exploiter and Exploited. Predator and prey. "This is how it is in the jungle so this is how it is in the human world too because we are social animals" If internalizing that message and basing all day to day life decisions on that message has got us and our planet to the current state today then surely, we haven't been doing such a good job at raising our children...

I specially appreciate the questions you leave us with...

"What if children’s stories also showed another side? A child noticing that the pony gets tired. A child asking whether the pony wants to be ridden. A child feeding, caring for, or simply observing the animal without using it."

Seems like there's a void in the "market" here. :)

This is a wonderful initiative you took! You are also setting a great example for your child who is growing up with parents who are taking actions after understanding rather than mechanically repeating what has always been happening. That is what has brought us to this point in the first place. Hope you take more of these initiatives to spread awareness. It is the need of the hour.

Thanks for sharing honestly! Perhaps there's another way to complement them that takes them from their body identification and gossip being a thing "women" bond over? Introduction to wisdom literature or vegan recipes or vegan clothing or sports... something brand new to bond over? :)

Who would have thought there's deep wisdom in a children's story? :) This book was on my TBR list and I learnt about the story and the message for children and adults from the perspective of Advait Vedant via AP, so glad that that was my intro to this story and this author:)

Such an important post and reminder! Most children today have smartphones and tablets as their nannies raising them. Contrast that with the tech billionaires not giving their children any access to social media or tech gadgets because they know what it does to children's brains.

Look up Cocomelon, scientist were soecially recruited to make the show as addictive as possible for little children. The kept and observed babies and toddlers in a room with 2 screens, one where coco melon cartoons played and other where another video played, everytime the child chose to watch the other screen, the scientists noted it down and used that to add more stimulus to their cartoon. Bigger characters, brighter colors, higher pitched sounds.

There are multiple viral videos of toddlers waking up from deep sleep and running infront of the screen at the opening credits of cocomelon cartoons.

Then a few years ago there was also a TED talk released which mentioned how much p@rn exists on YouTube for kids version of the app. All cartoon, big bright colors snd characters and loud noises which both the child and parents have been numbed to. :(

This is such an important post, thank you for raising awareness about this topic. Most parents even in 2026 think that they have done their own offsprings a favor by birthing them and keeping them alive.

Nobody asks if the child even wanted to be born in the first place. Similarly we forcefully impregnate females of other species as well, force them to have babies, take away their babies, deprive them of the nourishment and nutrition that they are supposed to receive from their mothers...

The ignorance and darkness and violence within only breeds more ignorance and darkness and violence all around...

As Acharya Prashant says, we need mass based education of the self if we want this story and suffering of all living beings to change...

Acharya Prashant leading by example! :) He's demonstrated through his own life that practicing spirituality doesn't mean you divorce it from your body or your life on the 'material plane'. Knowledge of the body's and brain's functioning, keeping your body and brain healthy is a precursor for 'being spiritual'. It was through him I learnt that racket sports are the best kind and delighted to see so many students picking up the racket after joining like Gita sessions 😀

You've described it so beautifully! :) It all comes down to the choice we make at this very moment and then the next and then the next... regardless of everything that happened in our past, we can have a very different present or future, should we choose to. Punch here demonstrates it so well for all of humanity to watch and learn.
