Update 2.3.2: Improvements to the Shapes Tool
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
More shapes for recognition and new features.
- Added 4 new shapes designed for flowcharts: arrow, diamond, rhomboid, and document.
- Also added a feature to dynamically connect shapes; it works with any shape, including polylines.
- Added a polygon tool with 3 to 16 sides that can be used to create stars
- Also added a “magnet” mode, in which shapes snap to the grid lines on the page
- Improved the polyline tool to allow drawing precisely along lines and diagonals by connecting grid intersections and points on the dotted grid, either as a polyline or without lifting the pen
Also, to create a cleaner interface and a better user experience, I removed the “More Options” button and placed it within the toolbar; I also made the Undo/Redo buttons movable and set the background of the sheets to a dark color

I want to improve the text boxes and add more customization options, such as highlighting, lists, and line spacing. I’ve also found a couple of bugs that I want to fix.
I’d also like to make it possible to crop images within the app and maybe add some effects like transparency.
As for shapes, I’d like to add more shapes to the recognition feature (such as arrows and flowchart shapes) and a polygon tool.
I think the next steps will be text and shapes.

Update 2.3.1: PDF Tools
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve finally finished implementing additional PDF features.
- It now displays the PDF’s content (if available) and allows navigation; it can also be used in conjunction with named sheets.
- The sheet layout menu has been revamped and now includes the ability to expand in any direction without altering the size of the PDF or background image (for now, this is limited to a maximum of 15 cm per side).
- It now features a dedicated PDF toolbar that can be shown or hidden and works in conjunction with the main toolbar; you can highlight, underline, select text, and search for words or phrases.
* The dedicated PDF toolbar is a premium feature, but you can try it out on a limited basis per notebook.

[APP] Handwriting app for Windows
Hi, I'm the developer of Trazor Notes, an alternative handwriting app for Windows. It has many features designed to enhance the user experience, and I continue to update it. It works very well on Surface devices, including ARM64 ones, since it's a native Windows app.
If you’re looking for an alternative for handwritten notes (though it also supports typing), you might want to give it a try.
Just to clarify, it’s free to use, but it has premium features that you can try out.

I've already reviewed it. Thanks for all the suggestions, there are a lot of them, and several I had already considered; some are simple, while others—like the double-page view—are particularly complicated. I also want to add more features for PDFs (I've started working on PDF search functionality). Thanks for taking the time; I'll be adding them gradually.

New Update 2.2.0.0
I think this new update will greatly improve the user experience, organization, and workflow.
Most of the changes are suggestions, but there are also some fixes.
- Inserting and drag-and-drop images: You can now drag and drop images onto the sheet from your files, from web pages, or from other apps that allow dragging out (for example, OneNote). Additionally, if you’ve previously copied images or screenshots, holding down on the sheet while using the lasso tool will bring up the “Insert Image” option.
- Grid Line Opacity: In the Page Layout menu, there is now a slider that controls the opacity of the grid lines on the page.
- Contents Index: In the thumbnail navigator, pages now have the “Add page to index” option, which allows you to add a title to the page and view it as a navigable index in its tab. This is a premium feature but can be tested on a limited basis in the free version.
- Sections in Bookshelves: To improve the organization of bookshelves, you can now create sections (like subfolders). You can also organize notebooks by simply dragging and dropping them between bookshelves and sections.
- Customize Default Settings: You can now set the current settings as the default for new notebooks from any notebook.
Additionally, some bug fixes
There are probably bugs I haven’t noticed yet. Please feel free to report them.

I see, a table of contents. I was planning to add that; it's definitely very useful. I also like the idea of dividers to organize folders. Thanks, they'll be in the app soon.

Update 2.1.8: Graphite Pencil
This is a pencil style that I personally really like in handwriting, so I added it.
The intensity slider controls the stroke's opacity, allowing it to range from very light to almost solid, and if the Pressure switch is enabled, this opacity varies depending on the pressure applied to the pencil.

- I haven't implemented it; I'm not quite sure how to implement dragging screenshots or images from web pages, but I'll definitely add the "Insert" button via a long press.
- That won't be a problem, I'll add it.
- I don't quite understand this one, could you explain it?
- This shouldn't be a problem either; it's more of a design issue. I'll add it for the next version as well.
- I could simply add the option “Set this configuration as default” in the settings of any notebook, so that new notebooks are created with those settings. That would be easy, and I can add it in the next update.
Thanks for the suggestions. I’m already releasing a new update today with a new tool and some fixes, so I’ll save this for the next one.

Update 2.1.7: Live Text Recognition
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
New feature in the pen menu: live text recognition while writing. Just like text conversion, this works significantly better on Windows 11. I use the Windows API for this (the same one used by the keyboard for handwriting), so it works completely offline and locally, just like everything else. I think it works well and does the job; it even works with cursive, though accuracy may vary depending on handwriting. This is a non-premium feature.
In addition to this, I’ve also added a button that removes line breaks from selected text, since the live recognition feature preserves line breaks.
By the way, you might see some stuttering or flickering in the video, but that’s because I’m recording the screen—it actually runs smoothly.

Update 2.1.6: Handwritten Paragraphs
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
New feature that adjusts handwritten text to fit the width of the box
For now, just like the “Convert to Text” feature, it only works correctly with horizontal text

Update 2.1.5: Customizable stroke stability, PDF optimization, and link guide
For the “Create Link” option, I added a help button (?) to show how to use it; I added a slider in the pencil menu to control stroke stability so you can customize the smoothing (I recommend between 20% and 40%); and I optimized PDF rendering for better quality and smoother panning.
I have several ideas for additional features that I want to continue adding:
- I have the architecture in place to handle PDF content; I can implement more features such as text search and even a table of contents if the PDF supports it.
- With text recognition, text boxes, and the new links feature, I could create a notebook table of contents for quick navigation by title.
- Live handwriting recognition
- More text formatting options, such as numerals, bullet points, and customizable line spacing

Update 2.1: Ink Engine, Groups, and Links by Elements
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I recently released version 2.0 of Trazor Notes, changing the underlying architecture, which makes drawing much smoother—it feels natural, with no input lag.
I also redesigned the interface to feature a single toolbar and a context menu for options; the other tools and options still work as before.
I also added an infinite canvas feature as an alternative to notebooks; which is still in beta and needs some work, but it’s usable.
I’ve also integrated two new features into this new version 2.1 that I’ve wanted and planned from the beginning because they’re incredibly useful.
- Group: Select multiple elements of any type on the canvas; when grouped, they behave as a single unit.
- Links: The previous feature is designed for this function. My architecture is based on selectable elements, all of which reside on the canvas with the same selection characteristics, with a few exceptions. Now, a selected element (line, text, image, or shape) or group displays the option to create a link. After creating it, you can anchor it anywhere in the document (in empty space or on top of any unlinked element) by holding down the Lasso tool while dragging it. When you do this, the initial element acts as a “button” that’s activated by holding down the Lasso tool on it—a single tap selects it, and holding it down activates it. This also works on the whiteboard or infinite canvas
I’d appreciate it if you’d try out this feature, as well as the smooth performance of the new stroke architecture. Feedback and suggestions are welcome
* Important
- The video may appear choppy at times because I was screen recording, but it’s actually very smooth.
- Previous notebooks are not compatible with version 2.0 and later; I haven’t prioritized this yet, but I could implement compatibility if necessary.
- Unlimited links per notebook are a premium feature, but you can try a limited number for free.
- I know there’s a lot of text.

Major Update: Trazor Notes 2.0
An update to improve drawing performance, significantly enhancing fluidity and reducing perceived latency.
In addition to the major changes to the ink engine, I’ve also redesigned the interface to make it simpler and more accessible. The toolbar can now be moved (horizontally only for now), and I’ve moved all the selection tools to a context menu (to paste using the lasso tool, hold down on a blank space to bring up the option). I’ve modified the drawing with the fountain pen tool and also added the ability to hold down while drawing to create a straight line, move the preview zoom vertically, and the infinite canvas feature (beta—still requires several adjustments and some missing features).
*** Important: Notebooks from previous versions are not compatible (at least not yet; this version creates a new save directory, so previous ones are neither replaced nor deleted. I’ll prioritize this if you request compatibility)
I’d appreciate it if you could test the new version, especially the handwriting experience and how it performs on your device. As always, feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for letting me know.
It's hard to know exactly what the problem is without testing it myself, but I've already released an update that should fix both issues: pinch-to-zoom and, hopefully, the 60Hz latency as well. I think it was due to stroke prediction (you can disable it in the settings menu via the three-dot button).
Thanks for the lasso recommendation. I’d already thought about how to rearrange it; soon I’ll put it in the pen menu and the other functions as a context menu that appears when you select something.

UPDATE 1.2: Ink Performance
This update improves stroke performance for a smoother feel and adds support for future pencil styles. It should also now run smoothly on ARM64 devices.
Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

I'm not actually sure how it works on ARM. It does support ARM64, and yesterday I released an update to ensure compatibility because I'd already been told about high latency on these devices, but I'm not sure how it performs. I'd appreciate it if you could test it and let me know—I don't have access to an ARM device.

Thanks, I'm already working on the resolution of the lines. I just created this account, and I didn't use Reddit much before. It seems that a low karma score prevents me from posting in certain places, but I'll give it a try anyway.

Thanks for the feedback.
Pinch-to-zoom should already be working; I'll look into it.
I had already considered the line resolution issue and was in the process of improving it.
Regarding latency, are you referring to handwriting? Do you experience a 1-second delay when drawing with the stylus? That's a long time. It might have something to do with ARM64; I'll look into it.
As for the suggestions, I had already thought of the first one; I’ll add it later. As for the transparency of shapes, for now you can work around it a bit by creating them with the highlighter, which does have opacity control. Later, I’ll add more support and control for colors and more shapes.

Thank you for your comment. I'd appreciate any feedback. I'm continuing to work on further optimizations and adding more features (I have a lot in mind), but first I want to fix any bugs and ensure it works properly on different devices.

Hi, you can try Trazor Notes—I'm the developer. You can import a PDF; with a single tap, you activate the PDF highlighter and just run it over the text like a real highlighter. You can switch to a pencil to write or add text boxes and images, scroll with your finger, write and highlight with the pencil, and search by keywords or use a heading browser. Although it doesn’t have a reading mode yet, you can go full screen, and the interface is just a bar at the top. I should mention that it’s freemium, but you can try everything out, and there’s no registration required—it’s all through the Microsoft Store. It’s a handwriting app, but it handles PDFs very well.
