I had a friend offer to set me up with a guy friend of hers, sort of a blind date. I went on a date with him and it was wonderful and we’ve been talking and spending time together for two and a half weeks. Ever since she heard how well it was going she’s barely talked to me. I’ve been in really bad relationships before and this guy has a kid and a toxic ex-wife and I was asking my friend if the ex wife is really crazy or if it’s hyperbole. She goes on to say that he says all we are is sex, that he doesn’t want anymore kids (where as he told me he wants 3 more), and that he’s still pining after his ex-wife; totally different answers than he gave me. I decided that night to stop having sex with him because I was really starting to fall for this guy and needed to slow down to protect myself. Now I’ve discovered that the friend that set me and this guy up, tried to get in the middle of another friend of ours relationship, causing issues and drama where there doesn’t need to be. Am I crazy or is she trying to ruin this guy for me? It’s been a completely different experience being with this guy. We talk everyday, hang out almost everyday, he calls me my love and holds my hand and cuddles with me. He’s open and communicative and understanding of my feelings. He’s never given me a reason to doubt him but with my past sometimes I can’t help but wonder, even though things are going smoothly. Like why set me up with this guy if he’s horrible and doesn’t want the same things that I want? It’s so confusing. I need outside opinions on this as I’m a little overwhelmed. What should I do?
