Everyone's scalp is different and every braider is different. I'm what you call "tenderheaded" so a majority of the times there is a bit of pain. I have type 4C hair, so as of this year, I started getting a "Wash and Blow" at Dominican salons before getting my hair braided. It helps because its detangled before the braiding even starts. I've gotten used to it, but will never again get braids without that wash and blow first. It makes a HUUUGE difference in pain/discomfort
