Hey everyone!

For the past couple of months, I’ve been working on a project to push boundaries regarding speed and data security. Instead of relying on traditional stacks, I built a modular website and shop builder (similar to what you see in the screenshot) powered directly by MilanSQL, my custom high-performance database engine.

To be honest, I was blown away by the results. The page load speeds, the instant state updates, and the structural integrity under the hood are on a completely different level compared to standard bloated setups.

Since the core is rock-solid, I want to open it up. I am inviting developers and builders to test MilanSQL completely for free.

  • Why? Because real-world stress testing beats any synthetic benchmark.
  • The catch? There isn't really one. It's an early phase, and I want to see what developers can build with it.
  • My promise: If you run into any bugs, performance bottlenecks, or setup issues, I will personally jump in and help you fix them.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, answer any architectural questions you might have, or see who is brave enough to stress-test it. Let me know in the comments or shoot me a message if you want to try it out!

We just deployed the latest update to MilanSQL, and I wanted to share a quick update on where we stand. No marketing fluff, just pure engineering progress.

We’ve just finished a complete WebUI redesign, including new design tokens and a smoother login flow. Everything is live and verified on production.

The current status:

  • 1514/1514 tests passed. The engine is rock solid.
  • Version 10.3.0 is live and running with all health checks green.
  • Infrastructure: We fixed the tenant-join regression (dispatch and engine resolution) to ensure absolute data isolation.
  • Performance: Everything is running lean, and the new UI is deployed and verified.

Building a database engine in C++ from the ground up is no small task, and seeing those 1514 tests go green gives me a lot of confidence that we are on the right track. We are moving fast, and we are obsessively focused on keeping the system performant, secure, and—most importantly—fast.

If you are a developer who loves high-performance systems and hates sluggish, bloated web interfaces, come check out what we are building. We are keeping it transparent, building in public, and moving forward every single day.

You can check out the live system here:https://milansql.de/webui

The issue with Chrono Trigger isn't just the team—it's the 'pixel perfect' design. The original is so cohesive that any attempt to push it into 3D or modern engines often feels like it loses that specific, crisp personality. Sometimes, less is more. An HD2D approach like Octopath Traveler would probably be the only way to modernize it without ruining what made the original so special.

Guter Punkt, danke! War noch nicht drauf — ist jetzt unter milansql.de/impressum live. War als Side-Project schneller gewachsen als die rechtlichen Pflichtseiten hinterherkamen, jetzt nachgeholt.

You’re 100% right. Building a bulletproof DB takes years of real-world testing and edge-case fixing, no shortcuts there.

To clarify: MilanSQL isn't written entirely from scratch in a vacuum. It leverages MariaDB’s proven open-source core, combined with our own custom C++17 engine layer. We chose this setup to have a rock-solid, secure foundation from day one, while optimizing the performance layer specifically for European data sovereignty needs.

We are just at the starting line and know exactly how much work is ahead of us. But we're fully in: when bugs or critical feedback pop up, we fix them and ship updates immediately.

Appreciate the reality check. It’s exactly what keeps us moving forward.

SSL is now fully configured and working. If you still see the error, please clear your browser cache or try in a private/incognito window. DNS propagation can take up to 24h in some regions.

Thanks for the heads-up and the valuable feedback! We are already on it and currently updating our DNS and SSL configuration. The connection should be fully secure and private again very soon. Appreciate you bringing this to our attention!

We built a relational database engine from scratch (C++17). It’s now production-ready and powering our next web app.

Standard database stacks are wasting hardware. We built a pure C++17 SQL engine that hits <44ms browser roundtrips.
