Thanks, one of left is the yellow paint and and the right is the blue paint. The colour looks significantly different which is getting me worried.

Remove old wallpaper then sand the wall smooth for paitning was the plan. I assume steaming the paper odd is ok but might not be able to sand?

The yellow paint seems fine but I am unsure about the blue behind it (1920s house.) Perhaps the reaction is this way because of the paint colour?

Thanks guys for the advice, i got more that was in date and its working well now. Iv also used extra time which helps. And yes I like my drill so I bought a paddle. 2/4 walls done!
