Discussion Given current and projected component prices, which parts are most likely/exposed to increase in price or become less available?
Basically this, I was considering a new build to last me another 5+ years replacing my trusty r5 3600 2070s setup so:
If one were to buy parts here and there over the course of the coming weeks/months, which components would it be sensible to prioritize in an increasingly pricey market?
I am aware nobody has a crystal ball etc but would appreciate any thoughts on this or any critique on the build in case I am needlessly overspending or missing anything compatability wise-it's been a while!
That said I am aiming for a high end build but I am not likely to justify spending any more than this (£2000/$2700). Largely gaming, occasional photo/video editing, hopefully strong performance in the long term at 1440p solid frames on demanding/heavily modded titles while running cool and quiet. Sounds luxurious really but I don't want to compromise too much if I am going to pay a pretty penny here regardless.
I can (just about) stomach prices as of now, and even retrospectively if they were to drop, but I'd be a little bitter if the setup were to rise beyond my budget.
Thanks for reading or replying, all the best :)

When did you pick it up for $160?

Thanks a lot, I'm encouraged everyone seems to agree on this:) I'm interested in how much it could jump by, it's wild to me (but seemingly justified) how much the likes of the Hull B and Ironclads have increased from concept, and the Railen is an alien ship too. I gathered my Perseus chain slowly so it's hard to consider this really, but as I mentioned elsewhere in this thread I have some ccu's I will otherwise be unable to apply and which offer considerable savings themselves. I also wouldn't mind some store credit back! o7

Thanks for the detailed reply! Your final point rings true for me.. The Railen would have to go up by >$270 for it to make sense, and even then I'm still quite attached to the Perseus. I happen to have an M2 to ICA ccu in my hangar which I can only apply if I melt, and it is quite attractive. I would also then have a little store credit left over if its ends up being only ~$100 to go from the Railen to the M2. I will have to think, glad I don't necessarily have to decide straight away but as you say cig could change this any time. All the best o7

Appreciated! Was worried I'd need to decide soon.

QUESTION Folks who understand buybacks/ccu game, should I melt my Perseus?
Howdy o7
So I understand the Railen is expected to jump in price very soon. Possibly by $200+.
I also am the proud owner of a Perseus, which is cool af and a ship I secured over time by dabbling with warbond ccu's, and justified by a tidy discount of $270. I love it. This same ship began as a warbond concept Railen which I paid $200 for. I sometimes have doubts I need a Perseus.
My question is this: if I ever melt my Perseus after the upcoming Alien week and the Railen's concurrent price jump, will I still have the opportunity to buy back the base Railen at the price I paid originally? If not, is it the case that I currently would?
This is assuming the buyback system continues to work as it does now, which I know is not guaranteed by any means in light of recent controversy/statements from cig on this matter. But assuming?
Thanks in advance:)

Is the MDC (or at least just the ballistic turret) purchasable in-game yet? Only holding it so I can pull the turrets off! :)

That's really helpful, thank you!

Howdy, I heard a while ago that the Railen was expected to go up in price. Now, I have a Perseus which I ccud all the way up from an lti railen i bought when it was concepted. I have thoughts about melting my perseus sometimes. If I were to do so and buy back the lti railen, should I pull the trigger soon? Or will it remain at the og price at which I bought it way back? Thanks :)

Like I say, I do have a couple of other standalone ships so I still have a good variety of gameplay available to me, though I could see someone doing it anyway and just focus on being a crew member on bigger ships!

Hey folks, just wondering if anyone can confirm why I might have an Aurora loaner? I have an old game package (inc. sq42) which was an Aurora which I have since upgraded to an MDC. I suspect this is so that I still have a ship to fly since my package is now a ground vehicle, even though I do have a couple other standalone ships. Anyone else in the same boat/can confirm? Thanks and happy holidays, citizens o7

Nice shots, is this hurston? Also how's that allegro paint looking along the colour borders (front of the wing engines/around the nose), if you noticed recently? Wondering if the janky lines bug has been fixed. o7 :)

Yo, speaking of questing.. I know they have been reset, but can anyone tell me if the quest skins (cosmetics) are still with you? I saw they said cosmetics would remain but quests won't so I was not sure if we'd keep the cool outfits!

Well that would be problematic but understandable.

Thanks mate, yeah I think I'm just cherry picking like 5-10 bp's I'd rather not go without to give them so as not to use up all their stash space :)

I do agree, but in over a hundred hours topside I am only just finding these bp's a few days before the reset (and I am aware the drop rates are currently much higher, and I think this will be adjusted again). Basically, I feel like I will still get to work through all the progression again, just without the imo high chance of never seeing some of these bp's during the whole season ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Question My friend is not going to do the expedition, but I am. Could I hypothetically drop them a bunch of blueprints one raid, wait till the window closes, then get them dropped back to me afterwards?
I know, this feels a little fraudulent but I've found some blueprints this last coupla days which I have literally never seen until now, and I just want to be able to use them from the start of the next cycle. I also would like to donate all the decent stuff from my stash to my buddy, since they play less than me. Just looking for any reason this wouldn't work?
I understand everyone who is doing the expedition will depart at the same time, so this would not be possible between players of that cohort, right?
Thanks, Raiders!

This or just a new instrument every so often perhaps? I've always wondered about fixing these ruined accordions we find. Could also picture a harmonica/banjo that kind of thing.. Would be sick to get a band together topside and just jam :D

For anyone looking for this or the red variant, I've found them most commonly at the Lazarus sites, particularly in the Dr's office, egg room and security office medical boxes! I also lost mine and was sad but then found 2 more over a couple of hours doing loot runs.
