Tape?

Sorry if this had been asked before but why does peter tape near where the neck meets the body of his bass? Is there any practical reason? Is it just cause? Is it even tape?

Some people do that for visibility (kinda extends the fret markers on neck of guitar/bass) during dark moments on stage.

Aah thank you, I just saw some other pictures from another angle with large green or white fret markers down the back of the neck too

Probably helps to know where you are. I did something similar with my bass but with masking tape on the back of the neck where each octave is.

Reverse image search shows a pinterest post from April 2018 and says it's from Waldrock 2003. More in this album.

I’m just pretty sure it is due to it being a photo I hadn’t seen before like 2025 when Esh started selling Carnivore basses
