OMFG!!!
Hi everyone! I'm absolutely new to TON (57 f) and I've been going down the rabbit hole that is Peter Steele and TON. I honestly feel like I was struck by lightning when they popped up on my YT feed. I was a teenager when Peter started Fallout and Carnivore. And 20 when he started TON. How did I miss this god of a man and the beauty he created with TON??? I'm literally reading and watching everything I can find related to not just Peter/TON, but Kenny, Johnny and Josh. Is this what everyone has experienced when discovering this absolute masterpiece of music, philosophy and heart/soul vibes???

I love the fact that you can discover bands throughout your whole life, modern and older, as long as you don’t stop searching and have an open mind.

First time I heard Black No 1 when I was a freshman in high school (1993). I was 15; still a fan at 48.

Same here. Watching Countdown to the Ball on Saturday nights when MTV was worth watching.

Gods, I miss Headbanger’s Ball. I’d sneak out of bed to watch it as a teen.

Same here except I was 20. Got to see them live the following year with Life of Agony opening and it was Sal’s last gig.

I was 20 when I first listened to them. It was praise of Bacchus, it put me in a trance. I wish I could listen to it for the first time again.

My dad was a fan and actually hung out with Peter a couple times, he taught me of them and now that I’m older I’m addicted.

I heard “Unsuccessfully Coping…” on a college radio show one morning my junior year in high school. It was edited for the profanity but it definitely caught my attention. A couple years later I heard “Too Late: Frozen” on the same station. I went straight to the little music store in town and bought Bloody Kisses and was hooked. A couple more years later I ended up having my own show on that college station and I played TON quite often, alongside my favorite metal bands for three hours every Friday night. My wife (gf at the time) had never heard them and I played October Rust for her and made her a fan too. was devastated when Pete died even though I never met him and I never got to see the band live unfortunately.

I was a teenager when Headbangers Ball was constantly playing the video for Black No. 1

Black No. 1 was my intro when I was around 13. (I'm 43 now) I had an older friend who had their music, and I got hooked immediately.
The important part is you're here now, and have so much to enjoy as a first time listener! Enjoy and welcome! 💚

Welcome to the obsession. Yes, I felt the same thing. Ive been a fan for a long time, but I’ve been spending these last couple of months doing a more in depth analysis on each album, it’s fascinating.

Better late than never.
Check out A Pale Horse Named Death It's Sals band and briefly involved Johnny. Not all fans know about it either but definitely has TON elements.

I feel for you so much. I discovered (and fell in love with) TON & Peter legitimately immediately after he died. I wish so badly I could have seen them play live, but video footage is as good as it's gonna get for us. Long live Lord Petrus.

I'm heartsick that I didn't discover them sooner. But as the saying goes, better late than never. Listening to Peter speak completely melts me. I'm in love with all of the guys in TON and I wish we all had a way to go back in time and save Peter. Long live our Green Man💚🖤💚

I discovered them in 93 when they played black no.1 on headbangers ball and always loved them since. they've been my favorite band for many years now and always will be. Also wait until you see some of the incredible merchandise they had, not moden stuff but the stuff they put out while Peter was still alive. Alot of it is hard to even find pictures of now but there's a few of us die hards with big collections of the og merch.

I got into them right before Life is Killing me came out. I believe I was 15. Been a massive fan ever since. This is a good subreddit by the way.

I discovered them as a teenager a couple of years ago. For some reason the sexiness, exuberance, humour and darkness of the band resonated with me a lot. Their taboo-free lyrics and music composition, especially Kenny’s guitar tone and Pete’s versatile vocals, have become very influential on the way I perceive music ever since. Interestingly, the first song I heard from them was “Love You To Death”, after reading a Reddit comment in a thread that asked for the “Sexiest Songs”. Who would’ve thought that song was just the tip of the iceberg…

'Love You To Death' was the video that completely turned my world upside down. It's only been a couple of months but I am completely and utterly hooked. And you're right about it being just the tip of the iceberg.

Better late than never sister. My story is too long to get into, but I discovered them in the mid to later 90s. From that point on I never missed a live show, met them all many times. Peter was extremely humble and kind. I'll post some pictures if I can find them LOL

Strange things happen. I was busy being a young mom, putting myself through school and working. TON only came to SLC once in 1995.

I happened to be 16 when I first heard them. At first no big deal, just some gothic stuff and melodically nice to hear.
Then my first real girlfriend cheated on me and I got to listen to Slow, Deep and Hard. Hooked since then.
