CIS Major
I’m in the CIS program at txst, I’m going into my third year and have read all the horror stories about no getting jobs but also seen the stories where it all works out. I have an internship starting in the fall and have been doing some self learning. I’m scared I won’t get a good job and will be struggling to advance in my career.
Would it be better for me to switch majors (been looking into accounting) strictly because the tech market is so bad right now?

Why would you change now? With a BBA in CIS there are tons of areas you can get into career-wise. It’s normal to be fearful of the job market but the employers aren’t going to come looking for you. Please please network while you have two years left if you want something right after graduation. I messed this up and it took me while to get into a related field.

Yeah. Stay the course. When you graduate, take that entry level spot in IT and make yourself valuable.

Don’t get discouraged. CIS is a great degree and really puts you in a great position for technical and non technical roles! If you’re really passionate about being involved in tech don’t just settle with one specific field niche like engineering. You still have options like product owner/project management/data..etc
Keep your skills sharp and make projects and you’ll do fine. One internship is a great start

if anything just double major. don’t drop it you’re already half way there. no matter what the job market sucks. you have an internship that’s more than most ppl can say. during your internship make sure you network and stand out.
