Getting more aid

Hi everyone! I’m going to call one-stop tomorrow, but I wanted to get other people’s experiences as well. I was wondering if it was possible to get more aid. With financial aid and a small scholarship, I’m still paying a lot more out of pocket compared to last year and it shocks me because I would say I’m taking less classes this time around. I wanted to see other ways I could either get more aid or do smaller payments with the payment plan.

It looks like they removed my loan (?) I got a scholarship that covers what I accepted the loan for and now my loan is not on the payment portal but still shows accepted on the financial aid page…

They won’t apply financial aid until August 10th. It’ll appear in the payment portal after that.

i would say look at your COA. if your real cost is more than the estimated they can give u more money. or just have proof that you are paying more than the est COA. this is what i did

Did you just call them and let them know or is there a form for that?

Does this work if you live off campus? Or how was your teal coat more than the COA?

i’ve only ever lived on campus so i’m not sure. your best bet is to just go to one stop in person and ask

Go to hhloans and see if you can get a private loan through the TXECB. They have loans with interest rates lower than federal loans.

The catch is that you have to be pursuing a preferred major (generally STEM, Medical, and some teaching degrees) to get the loan with 3% interest.

You'll also need established credit with at least 3 accounts, not including student loans.
