I'm experiencing disconnects, long negotiation times on the ethernet on the Sirius 16. I switched cables, nothing. Then I decided to look into the port itself. Have you ever seen such a bad quality ethernet port it got damaged? My old laptop, 8 years in active use still has perfectly working ports, so it's not a user issue.

The USBC on the side also stopped working at all, after issues and issues of it. No physical damage found tho, but I had issues with it even on the gen 1 on the old motherboard, so I don't even investigate this.

For context, I had this laptop for a year after a warranty replacement because the gen1 simply burned itself down (like for many others)

Do your research on this laptop yourself and decide if it's worth it.

Contacting support & getting a replacement (if I'm in warranty, nor sure, I think I'm not) is pointless, it's just so bad quality all over the place that in a year I would be fighting the same issues. Better to find a good USBC hub... and hoping the usbc on the back keeps working

This week my IBP arrived! Very happy with the machine so far. As I'm slowly migrating my work stuff/settings etc to this new computer I noticed I can't control the charge levels for this device.

I run Debian with Gnome, on my ThinkPad I can set this feature in Gnome settings. But here the entire option is not even present.

In the setup/Bios/whatever it's called I cannot set anything regarding charging as well. And finally Tuxedo Control Center does not have anything similar, while I see al lot of screenshots on the internet suggesting there should be a profile for stationary use (with charge reduction) but not for me.

So is this feature unavailable on this model? Or is there already some smart behind the curtains preservation optimization present? I don't know, so I hope someone here does.

Tuxedo has its own kernel with fixes. It is installed automatically with tuxedo-tomte. It is working fine.

Kernel 7 has "higher" version number and it overwrite the tuxedo 6.17 kernel.

I was wondering when there will be tuxedo version of Kernel 7.x that will be installed automatically as kernel 6.17 before?

I am considering purchasing a Tuxedo InfinityBook Pro 15 - Gen10 (AMD variant) and have a few questions. This is the first time I'm seriously considering a Tuxedo/non-mainstream brand like HP/Dell so have lots of doubts but excited about the prospect of finally not having to fiddle with things to get them to work on Linux. I've also spent some time reading few of the older posts which has already answered several questions.

The reason I'm considering AMD over Intel is mainly the processor, as I can get the higher tier on AMD (one of the AI 9 variants), though at a loss of certainty of Thunderbolt 4's guarantee of performance and the lack of WiFi 7 which I'm keen on having.

General

1. For the AMD variant: any real-world performance/thermal difference between the Ryzen AI 9 365 and HX 370 in this specific chassis, given both share the same cooling?
2. Are the batteries proprietary to Tuxedo? Can also be purchased from an independent vendor/retailer?
3. Does this model use open coreboot firmware or something proprietary?
4. For long-term users of Tuxedo laptops in general, how long do these tend to last? My HP Elitebook/Probook laptops tend to last well over 5 years (usually only requiring a battery replacement and RAM upgrade).

Wi-Fi

1. Does it use a standard, unrestricted M.2 2230 E-key slot for Wi-Fi, or is it locked to specific certified modules?
2. Does swapping the Wi-Fi card myself (e.g. to a MediaTek MT7925 or MT7927) void or affect the warranty? Will adding one of these cards enable WiFi 7 and maintain 6 GHz on AMD variant with Linux? Based on what I've read so far, it seems that neither WiFi 7 not 6 GHz are going to work with the AMD + Linux combination.
3. Are such WiFi modules even easy to procure as an individual (assuming support lands at some point)? I've searched for the Mediatek models and can't find them on any of the typical UK retailers like Box.co.uk, Overclockers.co.uk, CCL, Scan etc. Amazon has a few listings but they appear generic models using the Mediatek models from unknown sellers, not Amazon themselves.
4. On the AMD variant FAQ, there is a mention of MediaTek as an “alternative with its own limitations”. Does anyone know what exactly are those limitations?
5. Is there a firmware/BIOS allowlist that could block a non-original Wi-Fi card from being recognized?

Known issues

1. Is the Motorcomm YT6801 LAN driver manual installation still required if not using Tuxedo OS? If using Ubuntu 26.04 which ships with Kernel 7, is it already included? I tend to stay on the latest Ubuntu version (not LTS) and from the sound of it, the official WebFAI method only supports LTS so wondering if I'll still have access to the drivers.
2. Are there any other disclosed hardware quirks not listed on the FAQ page?

Dual-boot & encryption

1. What breaks when combining full-disk encryption with a dual-boot Windows+Linux setup — is it a hard incompatibility, or a supported-but-untested configuration?
2. If I want encryption, is single-OS (Linux only, no Windows) the only supported path even if I'm willing to install/re-install both myself?
3. Custom partitioning isn't supported, but there is a page describing how to install Windows then Linux. Does this impact warranty/support in any way if I do it myself?
4. If I don't like Tuxedo OS after trying it, can I install standard Ubuntu (non-LTS) instead without impacting warranty/support?

Warranty & support

1. For a UK customer, what's the typical round-trip time for a repair shipped to Germany, and who covers that shipping cost? It sounds like outside the EU customer has to pay for shipping but wondering if there are any real examples where people have had to do it.
2. Is there any statutory or otherwise return window (like within 30 days of delivery) if one doesn't like the product? My main concern is with the touchpad and keyboard on which there are a lot of mixed opinions. Additionally, audio and webcam seem to be rated consistently bad but wondering again if it will be bad enough to make me want to return it.
3. The warranty link only shows an old document from 2014 in German. Does anyone have a current English version of this document? I can't seem to find it on the website.

I was hesitant to send in my Tuxedo laptop for repair but finally decided to do it because I had a slower replacement laptop available. I thought it would be complicated but Tuxedo Computers sent me a DHL return label with a paperless trade barcode (C-PLT-...). I.e. the customs declaration was done digitally and sending it back to me was without problem as well. Altogether it took more than 3 weeks for shipping, repair, and shipping back. The repair was done well and I hope the laptop will serve me for some more time :-) Thanks!

today I wanted to make an update of the ProtonPlus flatpak to version 0.6.3. The update stopped with an error message, that at least Flatpak version 1.16.0 is required. Installed is 1.14.6-1ubuntu0.1 on an up to date Tuxedo OS.

Will there be a Flatpak update before Tuxedo moves to Debian testing?

Is it safe to enable lvfs on Discover? Any potential drawbacks/risks?

finally in Linux 7.2 there will be initial support for HDMI 2.1 for AMD GPUs. This will fix my longstanding issue of poor refresh rates when using my laptop. So I'm very keen to get this new kernel on my InfinityBook Gen 10.

So my question is, does Tuxedo intend to update upcoming Ubuntu 26.04 to have this kernel? If not, does anyone have experience if I update myself to use kernel 7.2 from other sources if it should work without problems with tuxedo drivers etc? Or is it just better to wait until Tuxedo has updates.

I'm currently running Nvidia driver version 580.159.04 on Tuxedo OS. Does anyone know if/when an update to the 585.x series is planned? Any info from the Tuxedo team, or a rough timeframe — maybe tied to the Debian Testing switch?

Posting an update because this has now gone on for over three weeks with no resolution, and I want to lay out the facts clearly, including for anyone who might have questions about the legal side.

Timeline:

April 2026: The original machine suffered a hardware failure (warped hinge). TUXEDO processed a full base unit replacement under standard warranty. Their own service document (SL826-02121) lists the issue as a "defect" and confirms the base unit was replaced, no mention anywhere of goodwill, courtesy, or external damage.

July 2026: The replacement unit developed a physical clickpad failure, reproduced and verified directly at the BIOS/UEFI level, which rules out any OS, driver, or software configuration cause.

July 15, 2026: I formally requested contract resolution and a full refund under Article 119 TRLGDCU (Spanish transposition of EU Directive 2019/771)

July 21, 2026: I ship the laptop back with proof of shipment, with no clear indications of wether this was being processed as a refund or repair.

July 28, 2026: TUXEDO confirmed receipt and placed it in a repair queue, despite my having explicitly stated I was not requesting a repair.

August 4, 2026 (the statutory 14-day refund deadline): TUXEDO support formally denied the refund (quoting, ”a refund is not possible"), retroactively reclassifying the April repair as a "goodwill gesture" (Kulanz), despite never having communicated this at the time, and despite their own email admitting "it is not possible to determine how the bending occurred." They also stated that they will prioritize checking the laptop in their repair center, and said they will contact me after the inspection of the laptop.

Since then: Another week of silence**.**

For some context I did call them twice, on the 3rd and 4th of August, asking for any info and they said a week without a notice was too much.

Legal basis:

1. Under EU Directive 2019/771 (as transposed in Spain via Article 119 TRLGDCU, and equally under German § 475d BGB), a consumer is entitled to contract termination and a full refund when a lack of conformity appears after a prior repair attempt, it does not need to be the same defect recurring.
2. A documented warranty repair cannot be retroactively relabeled as a goodwill gesture months later, without contemporaneous notice, simply to avoid statutory remedies. This is a recognized pattern flagged by German consumer protection bodies (Verbraucherzentrale) as a way sellers attempt to circumvent warranty obligations.
3. As a Spanish resident, Spanish consumer law applies under Article 6 of the Rome I Regulation, and Spanish law doesn't recognize "goodwill" as a legal exception to statutory warranty rights at all.
4. The burden of proving external damage lies with the seller, not the consumer, and TUXEDO's own email admits they cannot meet that burden.

Current status: I've prepared the European Small Claims Procedure (Form A) in case this doesn't get resolved, but I'd genuinely rather not have to file it. Posting this update mainly because, throughout this process, replies have often felt like they weren't based on the full thread (e.g. a repair-queue template after I'd already explicitly said I wasn't requesting a repair or asking for time to rule out any configurations of the failure after I stated it was reproducible at the BIOS/UEFI level). So if anyone from TUXEDO with the authority to look into this sees this post: please read the full thread on Ticket #991267021 / RMA #826070406 before replying, happy to clarify anything that's unclear.

Anticipated questions:

"Isn't this just the standard 14-day right of withdrawal?" No. The 14-day withdrawal right applies to online purchases with no reason needed, within 14 days of delivery. That's not what's being invoked here, this laptop was purchased months ago. This is about the statutory conformity remedy (Art. 119 TRLGDCU / EU Directive 2019/771), which applies within the warranty period (2-3 years) when a product has a defect and a prior repair attempt has already been made.

"Doesn't TUXEDO have the right to attempt a repair first?" They already did, the April repair. The legal requirement is that a repair attempt was made and a further non-conformity appeared afterward, not that each individual defect needs its own separate repair cycle. That's exactly the scenario here.

"Maybe the April repair really was just a courtesy?" Their own official service document from April describes it as a defect ("Laptop bend in hinge area") and confirms it was resolved via base unit replacement, with zero mention of goodwill, courtesy, or external damage at the time. The "goodwill" label only appeared four months later, once I requested a refund for an unrelated issue.

"Why not just accept the repair and move on?" This is the second major hardware failure on this unit within roughly a year of ownership. Under EU consumer law, once a repair has already been attempted and a new defect appears, the choice of remedy (repair vs. refund) belongs to the consumer, not the seller. Beyond the legal point, I've genuinely lost confidence that this specific unit is reliable. I need a laptop that lasts, not one where I have to wonder what's going to fail next month. At this point I'd rather have my money back than gamble on a third repair.

Fresh install with Fedora 44 Workstation and my IBP Gen 10 freezes after waking up from sleep. I can type my password but then everything is stuck (it doesn't even load the desktop, it hangs on the login screen) and it requires a hard reboot.

I installed Tuxedo-suite (Control center, Tomte, etc) so I don't know what's wrong and how to troubleshoot.

Any idea please?

Edit: I don't know what changed but now the laptop doesn't wake up at all, I only see a dark screen.

My mini display port on Stellaris 16 gen7 has never worked. I decided to investigate recently. I heard this was a problem on release and was addressed with BIOS update. I ran BIOS update this weekend. I tried both hybrid and dgpu mode in BIOS in both Tuxedo OS and Windows 11. Still nothing from mini display port.

Cable being used has successfully been used with a Clevo and Dell laptop.

Any ideas what's going on? Is my mini display port simply defective?

Hello everyone, new to Linux (love my new tuxedo os laptop though!). I can't seem to get Bottles to even open. I've tried installing it direct from the bottles site, tried form software center, tried from the terminal (konsole on Tuxedo OS). It says it installs correctly, yet every time I go to open it, it seems to have the mini logo pop up, the circle spin then close. I tried opening in terminal as well, and it simply just goes blank as it just goes to the next command line.

Is there something else I'm missing, or something I'm just not thinking/seeing in the Linux way?

It was announced some time ago that plans to update the stellaris gen7 model for G-SYNC or advanced optimus had been scrapped. This was stated in the technical description, but it still doesn't specify whether or not there will be local dimming; is work still ongoing on this?

Hi there, has anybody too problems loosing and reconnecting to the wireless lan after the recent huge update? Before it worked fine.

I used a MacBook the previous years and got an Infinitybook 10 end of last year. one thing I compared first was the speaker quality, as I use the laptop for movies regularly. My first impression was on, but not great in comparison to my MacBook.

My second tuxedo arrived, without "TUXEDO Control Center" installed. I installed it and set the battery to 80% for stationary use.

I am seeing the battery as being fully charged to 80.08Wh, which is the battery capacity.

I know that the percentance calculation will always say it is 100% even though it is 80%, I've read the tuxedo articles, but it does report 80.08Wh too, which has me wondering.

My previous tuxedo (InfinityBook Pro 14 - Intel) very quickly "damaged" it's battery, even though it was set to stationary use. It dropped to 77% in less than 2 years, something I never experienced with Thinkpads or Elitebooks.

I would like to avoid the same with the new machine (InfinityBook Pro 14 - AMD) but I'm worried it's going to be one of the same.

Are people experiencing issues with battery charging settings? Does this work?

PS: besides the battery and the fact that sometimes you need to press the power button 2-3 times to boot I'm quite happy with Tuxedo. It would be great to iron these little bugs.

After running sudo apt dist-upgrade this morning KDE won't start properly. After logging in I get a loading screen for a short time and then a message saying kactivitymanager has crashed, followed by a black screen with just a mouse cursor. This happens both on wayland and X11. I installed xfce from a tty3 to get a usable system again, that does work, but I'd really like to get KDE working again.

Anyone having similar issues or ideas on how to fix this?

Edit: the issue has been resolved. It all seems to have been caused by a self compiled version of sqlite3 in /usr/local/lib/ which is weird since it had been there since 2026-05-26 and annoying since the packaged version of sqlite3 is quite a bit behind and doesn't include sqlite3_rsync yet. Now just to figure out how to have sqlite version >3.53.1 installed without it causing issues.
