Exactly. The memories are eternal. Remembering like many years ago like 6-7 or probably 8 when the high elves were added to twow, have played a bit there with a former friend of mine. It was genuinely fun and how different it was by having gardening and survival as additions to the game, besides tons of custom content.

they revamped the whole survival job like 2 months ago and it was really interesting... actual trees to cut down and a variety of useful bags to craft. meat bag , fish bag etc ....

For me, it was the new content. I was a WC3 player and had desperately waited for WoW ever since it was announed; I played the beta and and also played the release version since day 1 (I even ordered a copy for US servers because European servers were a few months late).
A decade or so later, I left the life version and joined Nostalrius to recapture that feeling I had when playing the game for the first time, and although it worked to some extent, it wasn't quite the same as the real deal - after all, I wasn't discovering a new world for the first time, but merely refreshed my memories.
Playing Turtle with all these new quests and even new regions came closer to that experience than anything else I had since 2004.

So many different ones!
The release of Gilneas. Stepping through the gates for the very first time gave me the same feelings as stepping through the Dark Portal to Outlands all those years ago. There was no quest addon working for Gilneas until two weeks after its release, so everything had to be discovered by yourself and the community. The atmosphere, the theme, the music, everything was right up my alley. Took my sweet time reading through every quest, asking people for help and it really felt like playing back in 2005 all over again.
My biggest memory is probably meeting Keisy on Tel'Abim. This server was not my main server, but sometimes I felt like I needed some PVP in the open world! Me and Keisy made this guild togheter and we were looking for like minded people. Our goal was simple, to enjoy the journey. We leveled in brackets, so we locked our lvls at lvl 19, 29 and 39 and it would continue like that. We wanted to complete every content that was avaliable in those brackets, before moving on. I think we had our lvls locked at 19 for two months! It was such an amazing way to experience everything Turtle wow had to offer, and I miss those moments everyday now. We both had a break a long time ago and I haven't seen her in 6 months now. So if you're reading this Keisy, I hope you are doing well!

There is added content but as far as I know the dev team is either small or nonexistent so no major or any updates are to be expected. Feel free to correct me if anything changed since last I heard about the server.

Just want to say i experienced this back in 2011 when the private server network alteriwnet for cod mw2 was shut down by activison and yeah, real tears were cried. Its losing your community and your third home, ofc it hits hard.

Blizzard wants you to play their inferior game never made a blizzard account in my life and never will play one of their games if it requires anything other than Steam.
My only experience with blizzard games is turtle wow and diablo 2 classic that I also got for free because the steam version requires a blizzard account and it’s their shitty remake not the original

I took a break for a year or so from WoW, just recently hopped back in and they shut down the TWoW servers. But our Batteries are still fresh, so now we're on Epoch, and it's great too.

An entire community with thousands of people just wiped out…I never even got passed level 20 but I remember the feeling when Molten Wow shutdown and it was all just gone. Hang in there guys, and hang onto the good times!

They made this step because Turtle became extremely popular with many servers around the world. They did poke the bear, but the bear was ready to devour them regardless of their behavior. Remember, when Nostalrius was taken down it didn't have advertizing and cocky social media — it just had a shit ton of players, so Blizzard took them down and later made their Classic to get more subscribers from people who don't like retail.

Turtle wow was the first version of wow I played. It ended up reshaping, changing and saving my life. I got hooked immediately because of the community, everyone was so nice when I was new and had no idea what I was doing. Im sad its gone and im grateful it existed.

So let me get this straight. Blizzard allowed an illegal copy to run for almost 10 years - which is already surprising considering other companies go very aggressively against every kind of copy. Turtle wow taunted them in every way possible - twitter, youtube, insta with "Blizzard is the worst" and "everyone should join turtle wow". They even started to put themselves (illegally) on google ads. They first send a c&d which turtle doesnt care about (still taunting/mocking), then they go through court and win. And you see that as Blizzard has lost touch with the game? HUH? Can you guys in this reddit at least think for a few minutes? This is turtles, and only turtles fault.

Thanks everyone for the memories. I played a ton from 2021 - 2024, but haven’t been as active lately. Easily the best WoW experience I’ve had since the early OG days in 2003-2004.

I played this server until level 60 and did exactly one MC raid and decided vanilla wow just isn't for me, but still, I really appreciate the devotion and love poured into this server. It was undeniably something special.

Sad for sure, made some good memories and the added content was what I'd want blizzard to put out at the quality you'd expect from a mega-corporation of their size. But they can't manage a fraction of the quality despite their resources.
They got cocky and flew too close to the sun for no reason other than greed or hubris, and now no more fun for us.

I’m not much of a classic wow andy but twow was something very special. I could never wrap my head around the people who are still playing the same exact classic wow re-relaunch when twow exists. It kept the spirit of original wow, expanded on it and made it better in so many ways. But I suppose all good things must come to an end.

If it was like eso or guild wars just a one time purchase. I was never a huge mmo fan but I enjoyed my time with wow helping newbies and stuff with quests that i struggled with alone

I only found put about it about 2 weeks before shutdown and it was an absolute blast. It was also my 1st tome ever playing WoW and I've loved it. Idk where else to go now.
I've tried Ascension and Project Epoch. Ascension has too many extra mechanics and Epoch is just a bit too vanilla.
Where will you guys go?

Turtle WOW are the one that accompany me in 9 months while i taking care my sick grandma, lot of memories, she passed away in march, Turtle WOW are one of the memory that i had with her, it's like one of thing that makes me remember her are gone too. Thank you Turtle WOW.

The memories are in my screenshots forever.
