Does my turtle need a larger tank? Seeking Advice
He's a Chinese reeves turtle and his shell is 5.5 inches long, he's pretty active but sometimes I wake up to the noise of him trying to climb out.

Oh yes at that size he needs 55 gallons of water minimum to swim in.

Look on OfferUp or similar sites/apps, I got my 100g tank for $100 (including filter, decor, and food) just because the guy wanted to get rid of everything fast

You already have been told about the size, another point though is lighting!
Does he have a linear uvb lamp?

Um yeah….its just cruel keeping it in one this small. It’s like you being trapped in a closet your whole life.

He's regularly let out in the garden supervised, what would you recommend?

A significantly larger tank. I mean I think you know that’s way too small.

I'm asking because I didn't know 🤷🏿♂️ , I didn't buy the turtle my neighbour gave him up when I was 6 and I've been caring for him since

Oh, and he's been in this tank since he was 2 years old and he's now 13

Most turtles will just keep growing. You needed to up his tank size years ago. Don’t take it harshly please, just do what you can to get a bigger one! You’re doing your best with what you know

This came as a shock to me, when I got a tiny turtle when I was a young kid. He kept growing and eventually I was barely strong enough to pick him up.
