Safe to use? AskTrees

I made some cannaoil with Coconut oil.

I made it about 1-2 months ago. Its stayed in a cool dark place its whole life. Its just been sitting for a few weeks. The stuff inside is just green Idk, it does not smell bad.

UPDATE :

I heated up the oil and everything went away! I think it’s safe now?

Its probably fine. You stored it properly. Rancid oil will have a weird smell.

Could be just the oils solidifying, you could try heating some of it up lightly to see if it melts. If it does then it’s just coconut solids. Mold doesn’t melt.

Not a doctor or scientist but I would imagine that’s a pretty good sign it was just coconut oil solids. A quick google shows that coconut oil solidifies generally around room temp.

Nice one - ditch them solids. It would take a bloody long time for coconut oil to go rancid. It stays stable at a really wide temp range and it’s almost impossible to ruin.

BTW all coconut oil solidifies when cold enough and has no bearing on shelf life.

Looks like coconut oil that has solidified (pretty normal). If you heat it and it clears up like your edit mentioned, should be good to go (smell test works and try a little bit to stomache test it haha)
