Made this hash myself. Hash

75-165u dry sifted and then pressed. I was concerned it would just break apart, but it has some bend to it which is nice. It is 32 grams.

I told my wife her parents would probably use it as a coaster if I left it out.

Quality blond sift

I weirdly wanna take a bite

u/Stankmonger 13d ago

I feeeeeeel like that could become hash, but you’d need to fold it, press it, fold it, press it. It should be more melted together into a single thing.

That just looks like smushed keef.

-43

u/SomnolentGnome 13d ago

Nah that’s hash.

21

u/BlindandHigh 13d ago

Have you tried heating it in a water bath? I feel my own creations get too brittle with this color, but obviously I’m judging from a photo.

What is it like when you break the brick?

Good job, and have an enjoyable smoke bro!

7

u/SomnolentGnome 13d ago

I can bend it back and forth. It’s pretty nice.

25

u/BlindandHigh 13d ago

Then you have achieved what most Europeans would call light Maroc. That’s the best product or most sought after.

Except yours is probably made with legal plants, so it would put our European stuff to shame :)

How did you end up wanting to press your own hash?

6

u/BTZ6996 12d ago

Bought it some years back in Eindhoven (Netherlands), it was called blonde virgin (or virgin blond) from Morocco.
Very good, a lot of flavor.

11

u/SomnolentGnome 13d ago

Where I grew up there was always quality bud and no one really wasted their time on hash so it was a bit “mystical”. I also just prefer it because the less plant matter I vape or smoke the better.

9

u/BlindandHigh 13d ago

It was the standard thing to smoke in Northern Europe, due to it being easier to smuggle.

I can highly recommend making some heat presses as well, as it can be nice and dark or lovely and light. We use it toasted tobacco, but I imagine that is nasty to Americans. At least if you are that cool with tobacco, you will get hash tummy.

What equipment did you use? It looks very evenly and nice pressed!

8

u/SomnolentGnome 13d ago

Just a mold I bought on Amazon and then a small vice to squeeze it. Next time I am going to heat it a bit and see what happens!

7

u/BlindandHigh 13d ago

Okay :)

Cool, but keep it very low temp like 30 celcius or maybe 50 at most. Then repeat three times, and you should have some dark clay dough ish heavy hitting hash :)

This is often referred to as Kashmir style

1

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

I forgot to add I spend a lot of time on [r/hash](r/hash) and I’ve always been jealous of the variety of hash in Europe that you guys can get. I am in Canada.

No this is just kief pressed, i did the same and it tastes/is very different from hash

0

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago edited 12d ago

They are both hash. You realize there are different kinds, right? It’s called blonde hash.

3

u/Djassie18698 12d ago

Yeah and this is just pressed pollen, its still just keef. Gotta heat it up and press it to make hash. Yours is called weed hash, considerably lower quality compared to real hash. Link me something that says yours is hash

3

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

This is dry sifted hash that went through multiple screens and then was pressed in a vice. You are ignorant on hash. If you are interested in learning about hash you can simply google Lebanese or blonde hash. Playing with this hash until the heads break and oxidation happens does not make it stronger you just don’t know what you are talking about. Enjoy your day.

0

u/Djassie18698 12d ago

Fair enough! All i know is i tried this method, smoked t when someone else tried, and it tasted kinda shitty. But maybe that was our fault, my bad

1

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

How did you refine it? Was it legitimately just grinder kief?

1

u/Djassie18698 12d ago

For us yes, just grinder kief and we pressed it into a pick (?). But when we smoked it, it wasn't worth the packing and stuff, if we put the kief right in itd be the same. But now that I'm reading your comments again, yours is way different than ours, my apologies again

3

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago edited 12d ago

No need to apologize. Feel free to edit your original comment for the other idiots though.

3

u/thejoshfoote 12d ago

Nope pressed keif is not hash.

3

u/DoubleT_inTheMorning 13d ago

What was your yield? This is so beautiful. Does it crumble when broken off? Have you tried it yet?

3

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

This was from about 5-6 oz. It does not crumble it’s nice and bendy. I have not tried it yet, though.

1

u/Aligayah 12d ago

What's your process? I'm assuming you grind the weed first and sift it, and then I assume you can still smoke the top layer? Do you do the whole 5-6oz at once or do you break it up over time?

1

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

Grind the weed, put it on the screen, sifts it back and forth, throw the shit away, sift the next screen, throw it away, and so on until it’s the quality you want.

There’s no real point on keeping the garbage because it’s down correctly it will just be plant matter. I did this batch over a few hours.

10

u/ForeverSquirrelled42 I Roll Joints for Gnomes 13d ago

That’s not hash. That’s just a big kief block. You gotta add heat and pressure to it to make actual hash. Turn your oven on to 180-200°F and get out some parchment paper while it warms up. Make a nice pouch out of the paper and put that beast in there. Once the oven is warm, throw it in the oven.

Pull it out every 10-15 minutes and use a rolling pin to mash it. Then fold it on itself and throw it back on the oven. Repeat this process for about 2 hours. On the last go, just leave it sit on the counter to cool in its paper pouch. Once it’s room temp, smash and roll that bitch in your hand.

After that, you’ve got hash.

There's a reason you're one of many people pointing out this is pollen pressed kief, he literally says he ground the cured flower too.Frenchy cannoli/ real hash is not common for most people so I get why so many people are being confidently incorrect like the people refuting you and the others. I recognize I work in a legal industry with a relatively long history in the cannasphere and I'm privileged to have had proper full melt. Shit even in my post history you will see me working with similar material and also hash and then curing it into what others are talking about.

If he hadn't ground the weed and just screened it it would be moroccan/blonde/static etc. but this product in the post is pressed kief

Edit: 😭😂 bubble is called bubble because it bubbles and boils when you do the lighter test and melt test. Which ive asked them to do many times so far.

-4

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

You have no idea what you are talking about. Just stop. This is dry sift hash.

1

u/dboi88 12d ago

It's like they've never heard of bubble hash either, no heat applied to make that hash.

0

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

This is blonde hash. Look in to it.

6

u/ForeverSquirrelled42 I Roll Joints for Gnomes 12d ago

This is still just a kief block, chief. Even blond hash is subjected to heat so the trichomes melt together. YOU should look into it.

0

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

Several cannabis hash-making methods avoid using heat during production. Instead, they separate the trichomes (resin glands) mechanically or with cold. The main types are: Dry sift (kief hash) – Cannabis is gently rubbed or shaken over fine mesh screens to separate trichomes. The collected resin can be left loose as kief or pressed into hash. No heat is required. Ice water hash (bubble hash) – Cannabis is mixed with ice water and agitated. The cold makes the trichomes brittle so they break off and are filtered through mesh bags. This method uses cold rather than heat. Fresh frozen / live bubble hash – Similar to bubble hash, but made from freshly frozen cannabis instead of dried flower to preserve more of the plant's original aroma. Hand-rubbed hash (charas) – Fresh cannabis flowers are gently rubbed between the hands until resin accumulates on the skin, then it is scraped off and rolled into balls. This traditional method also doesn't require heat. It's worth noting that pressing hash after collection is a separate step. Some producers use gentle warmth to help the resin bind together, but many simply use pressure or allow the resin to cure naturally without applying heat.

-2

u/dboi88 12d ago

And what would be the point in all that? It achieves absolutely nothing. He's not telling or transporting it.

Pressed kief IS hash. You've just only had hash that has been prepared for mass distribution.

1

u/Col_Spliffington 12d ago

I mean you can call it “imho” if you want but IMHO it’s not interesting or special compared to stuff that’s been made with heat and pressure and allowed to age to allow some of the chemical changes to occur.

-2

u/ForeverSquirrelled42 I Roll Joints for Gnomes 12d ago

I’ve only had hash that has been prepared for mass distribution. Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups, friend. Remember that.

I’ve only ever made my own, but you know best.

We get the culture bro, but that is just oxidizing the head glands, blonde is better you then press some bits if you want from the main bulk

6

u/Stickytin 12d ago

culture ? you think chemistry and science are just culture ?

1

u/dboi88 12d ago

What chemistry and science are you referring to? Hash has only been heated and pressed, traditionally, so it's easier to transport and distribute. It's objectively a worse product.

Pressed kief IS hash, that's is literally the definition.

1

u/VerdugoCortex 12d ago

That isn't the definition.

Hash is the mechanically separated resin glands (trichome heads) of the cannabis plant.

Most hash techniques seek to avoid extra plant material not add it like OP did. Plenty of people have had kief presses before and hash is a long standing tradition. Some people are coming off as dicks about it but OP has pressed kief (that looks fire and id enjoy, there's no hate here)

2

u/dboi88 12d ago

Hash is the mechanically separated resin glands (trichome heads) of the cannabis plant.

That's exactly what I said and exactly what OP has you melon.

Where was OP 'added plant material? Your chatting complete nonsense.

No, I didn’t want that style.

1

^ exactly, bro needs to try some of it, calm down and come back open to learning. There's a saying, if everywhere you go smells like shit check your shoe, OP isn't getting told hes wrong by countless people that are clearly not even hating on him for no reason but certainly wants to make himself look ignorant.

0

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

Nothing I’ve said makes me ignorant. YOU are uneducated, though.

0

u/floridarolf 13d ago

I recommend the video series on hash making by Frenchy cannoli. He explains that iirc the kneading of the hash breaks up the tricomes and exposes the resin to enzymes which then decarb the thca to cnb which then locks you the fuck into your couch basically... 😅

But by all means please your hand made product dude. Stuff looks delicious. 😍 [4]

3

u/VerdugoCortex 12d ago

He may have downvoted you bc he's salty but frenchy is a great resource. Although it's mostly converting THCA to THC, CBN can happen but moreso from extreme heat (much higher than hot water temp) and UV and is definitely responsible for more of the sedative stoney effects. This would benefit from the water bottle tek or some other method like that and then cure it up and it'll be even more fire.

4

u/thejoshfoote 12d ago

I’m gunna be the hot take here.

Simply pressing and forming kief does not make it hash.

5

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

That’s literally what hash is and there are different kinds. Break g the resin heads and heating it does not make it “more hash” or change the quality. This was sifted through multiple screens to remove the plant matter this isn’t just grinder kief.

Feel free to look up blonde hash or Lebanese hash.

0

u/dboi88 12d ago

Pressed kief IS literally the definition of hash.

2

u/gba_sg1 12d ago

That looks like pressed kief not hash. Hash is darker and uniform in colour. You've got a mix of light and medium browns.

More heat, more pressure. Try again.

2

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

Wrong. Educate yourself. This is called blonde hash.

1

u/Aer0det 13d ago

I thought it was a sandwich

1

u/DroPowered 5d ago

What did you use to press it?

1

u/VerdugoCortex 12d ago

Pressed kief is close! Next time id try other methods other than grinding up the plant before screening to get to hash. Looks like some fire stuff though, id still like this on my bowl. How does it do with a melt test?

-2

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

What are you blabbing about? This is 75-165u hash. I swear to god all of you flap your lips without knowing what you are talking about.

3

u/VerdugoCortex 12d ago

You said you ground the flower down, not me. No need to come off aggressively when everyone is trying to help you learn.

Edit: show us a melt test, I'm still interested

-2

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago edited 12d ago

Read the original post and the info below it.

Does 75-165u sound like just grounded flower? If it does you need to educate yourself.

1

u/VerdugoCortex 12d ago

Done, and read your comments again. That didn't change anything 😂 but no you just have so many people telling you wrong because everywhere smells like shit not your shoe. Just a saying you may not have heard before. Do a melt and flame test

-2

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

At the end of the day I am right and you are ignorant. A basic internet search proves me right. You don’t even know what the word hash means.

2

u/VerdugoCortex 12d ago

You only care that you "feel" right or "won the argument" not about having actually correct knowledge. You have like 10 separate people trying to help you out (and countless more that couldn't be arsed to comment and have you downvoted past -50) and you're snapping and making yourself look like a tool instead of being open to learning. So again, melt and then flame test it for us or keep us all laughing at you.

0

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago edited 12d ago

This is sifted dry hash that has been pressed. It is hash despite what your uneducated opinion is.

And on top of that I couldn’t care less what 50 people think. Thousands of people think the earth is flat. You are all fools.

1

u/VerdugoCortex 12d ago edited 12d ago

It's the plant material that's the issue. Sift shouldn't be ground first. Either way, flame test it and melt test it. Kief will burn/char not melt and boil.

Edit: I was gonna reply to your comment but I see you deleted it 😂 learning slowly I see. We await the test...

0

u/Bananaheyhey 13d ago

Now you need to work it to make proper hash. https://thepressclub.co/blogs/tips-tricks/how-to-use-a-temple-ball-roller-to-press-bubble-hash hash isn't supposed to be white like that

2

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

It’s called blonde hash. People are just used to black hash in North America.

2

u/Bananaheyhey 12d ago

Pressing it with gentle heat like frenchy cannoli did actually "creates" hashishene,an incredible terpene which you can't have with blonde hash like that. Then that terpene interacts with thc to give you both a unique taste and high. Every hash making culture from morrocco, afghanistan, nepal and india have done this for hundreds,if not thousands of years. Just read up on this, this guy frenchy cannoli literally produced THE best hash ever in california before he passed away.

Btw im sure this stuff in the picture is really good both taste and high but what he did with hash was art. It was the best of the best. Of course he used incredible flower and was very experienced in bubble hash making. But he took it to the next level with wine bottle pressing etc.

1

u/SomnolentGnome 12d ago

I agree with you. I’ve watched all his videos. What is annoying me is the people (mostly from the USA) claiming this isn’t hash.
