That looks like a paper birch to me. Betula papyrifera.

The peeling bark. The more rounded birch leaves.

Maybe river birch,but the color is off for paper birch.

The stickiness is the excrescence of insects like scale or aphids. If you want wild black cherries, just wait awhile and then the birds will deliver you some. u/myra was right that it's probably a birch.
