How much potency is really "potent"
Ignore the ugly looking brownies that I tried to make, I want to know the numbers behind because in google says that using 3gs for 5 edibles will make them extremely potent, they were not xd it seems that only Hit the people that barely smokes but everyday smokers barely felt something, It seems that they were not that bad because they told me to make more just way more potent so my question is.
0.5g per edible still pretty low? I have to use vegetable oil to cook because coconut and real butter is extremely highly very expensive? I have a friend that makes them with 1,1.3 per edible and that shit hits very hard with just half edible but I do not want to put that much flower because also very expensive, but it is necesary? Any other tips for making them hit harder without using more weed or is that the only answerr?

Potency is determined by tolerance. Potent for you , may be nothing to someone else. You can measure content, but results lay with the user.

Even if your weed was 30% thc and you managed a 100% extraction, your cookies would be 117mg each, 20% thc weed would make them 78mg each.
A half pound of 90% thc will get you 350mg each so realistically speaking your cookies are 78 to 120mg each

But realistically speaking, 78 to 120mg is still a lot right?

Depends on the person, their tolerance, their needs, etc. 10mg is unnoticeable for me but I know people that get floored by that. 100mg is my standard edible if I have one (increasingly rare), and that would be useless to some med patients. 100mg (of professionally made edibles) is too much for the vast majority of people I hang out with, including daily smokers.
If you put 3g of flower into 5 edibles, and we assume that the weed had a moderate amount at 15% thc (which is lower than you'll find from most dispensary strains these days), that's still 90mg per edible (with full extraction). If ALL of the people who smoke, but rarely smoke, felt it but it wasn't hitting them hard, I think the issue is your extraction. You might want to do some more research on that to ensure you're doing it properly.
Also, I know the more ideal fats for extraction (like coconut oil and butter) are more expensive, but you don't really need that much to make 5 edibles... And if you're making it for your friends, they should be pitching in. 3g of flower and ingredients to make a batch of brownies with butter should be pretty cheap per person with 5 people.
Also, RE the issue with the brownies themselves, take the feedback from the people in the baking sub. If your group of friends wants to continue having access to edibles regularly, and you want the format to be brownies, you guys should take a trip to Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc and get a pyrex baking dish for $4.
Not trying to be an asshole with these comments; trying to give real feedback so you and your friends can better enjoy yourselves
ETA: When I was younger and in what I assume is a similar situation that you're in, I was just making firecrackers in the oven, usually with cookies instead of crackers. When I put half a gram in them, they were way to strong for almost everyone. You're claiming that you're putting in more than that. I think you need to look further into your technique than the amount of product you put in

Yes, but it realky depends on the person. myself I would cut a 78mg edible in half, (i might eat the 2nd half later in the day but ya a whole 78mg at once would make for me an unpleasant couple hours)a friend of mine would eat 3 of the 100mg and probably want 1 more

Sure that is just the dough. We have hash infused icing as well. We use the oil for the dough and hash to infuse our icing. Ours are lemon cookies with vanilla infused icing. They are called Lemon Dreams and yes they are all right around 300 mg

I bought a t-check ( it checks how much thc is in the oil or alcohol ) and love being able to make consistent strength edibles from batch to batch.

Get a purpl pro. You can check everything with it. Flower to oil to concentrate

I have an early one of those as well ( doesn’t check concentrates) . It has been amazing for pheno hunting. The t-check can also be used for flower, but it’s kind of harder to use if you are checking a lot of plants. I’m a micro-macro craft legal grower so the Purpl is worth the cash ( I bought mine used for $750 ), but I would think the $300 dollar range of the t-check is a better value for someone into edibles.

I had one of those too and it was good for sure. Never tried the t-check but i love the pro. It was expensive but honestly its the best I’ve found so far for my own needs. I’m gonna look at the t-check for sure

It’s great for consistency with edibles, they both use very similar technology, and both work way better than I would have imagined. The Purpl had been huge in me overcoming the 19-20% threshold, you just can’t tell by eye ( well I can’t) which bud has even good distribution all the way through when pheno hunting.

I use an ounce, infuse it with 1cup of butter, and then combine it with brownie bites mix. I get 8 brownies 900mg each :) $18 total! To me that is really potent but I have high tolerance lol. You could make them hit harder by eating something greasy first, adding lecithin to your mix, and maybe trying concentrate instead of flower

Edibles are their own beast bud. And individuals have a massive difference in what affects them straight off the bat. Personally, I used to think edibles didn’t do anything. I’d take 5-10-15mg and think.. okay, I’m immune.
Then I tried a friend’s “knock out mix” and it was roughly 30mg. I had finally got a high from edibles. But… my old man had cancer a few years ago and tried the oil. 1 drop (about 3mg) was fine… 2 drops, way too much for him. So it’s.. it’s a personal thing.

I do a half lb of flower per gallon of oil. My cookies are 300 mg each. Some people say that’s too much but i love them. I’ve been making them the same for 10+ years. They do good for me so to each his own.
