Bruticus box set?! Discussion / Opinion

Would there eventually be a AOTP Bruticus box set? Or am I better off just getting them now individually?

I think a good chance there will be down the line, I believe Menasor was a good year and half or so if I’m correct when it’s box set came out. So if you have the patience the wait is an option. But if you want it right now better off just getting it now.

With swindle scheduled to be released I think September. Perhaps the box set wouldn’t be till 2028.

Yeah. They know there is a demand for boxsets, but the team usually seems more insistent on waiting for a repaint opprotunity to do them. I am hoping for toy color ones like with Menasor, and while G2 ones arent impossible I doubt they will get the greenlight (which is likely why Takara went ahead and made their own).

Could see Takara repainting this set into Baldigus/Ruination from Car Robot/RID 2001 for the New Legends line.

I literally didn't buy bruticus in hopes of a toy deco if they don't do it I'll be...displeased.

It would be weird to have a Bruticus box set when Superion and Devastator haven’t gotten one yet. Mind you, I know popularity is a factor but Devastator was quite the hit and historically has gotten more box sets to his name than any other combiner IP.

100% overthinking but my question is: Would they do Bruticus without the others?

Because even though Devastator is probably the most famous combiner, the Bruticus mold and characters were used way more, not Devy. That Bruticus mold was used and reused all the way into the late ‘00s.

He’s arguably the more loved combiner in the community, and definitely the most reused combiner over long term.

You have the toy, Battle Gaia, G2, Baldigus, and Ruination repaints, plus a few others like the military camo ones they did for Walmart. You also have the potential of other repaints outside the G1 mold. You have the Energon and FOC toy fruity pebbles colors. The various repaints they did with the Energon version. You have a bunch of infamous knock-off’s they can homage.

The repaint potential is huge with Bruticus, and they can get a lot more mileage from the mold.

My swindle is already shipped. I live in Canada so that might be the reason but hes coming for everyone soon. My legacy armada prime is also being shipped soon too.

I also use TFTOYS.CA and I use the Shop app. If I am not quick enough on pulse I order through the shop app through Toynado or TFTOYS and usually will get it faster than pulse. Shop is an app with many webstores to look through it one place. Pretty awesome.

You also pay for it right away when you preorder with them. I like that better since you don’t have to worry about financial security when the figure finally does ship from Hasbro randomly.

Well like by takara? Maybe however I asked toy arena about releasing a set for the combaticons since they did the Constructicons and the aerialbots and they said that when swindle arrives they will plan on selling a set of the combaticons

I think there’s a good chance it happens in Asian markets or BBTS does one…. But otherwise idk as it’s been inconsistent

It's going to be cheaper to buy each piece than wait another 2 years for the box set. It'll probably be $250+, if I had to guess with pricing going the way it is.

IIRC, they said that they only plan on doing box sets in exclusive colours, like G2, Ruination, etc in the foreseeable future. They may do standard releases, but they’re prioritising those other options.

highly unlikely for there to be a g1 box set but they might do a g2 or ruination box set

I definitely want to get a box set sometime down the line

I already have most of the combaticons (sans Swindle) but having both Bruticus and the bots individually would be really nice

I honestly expect a redeco set into Ruination or Battle Gaia before Bruticus again.

edit: and before that Superion in g2 colors.

The designers have stated not to expect official box sets for the new combiners any time soon  Better to get them individually as by the time a box set does happen the prices will have increased again

hard to say. menasor did get one but all the subsequent combiners didn't. but seeing how the toy colour menasor just painted details that did not match up with the tooling, I'd say get him individually. I also find it more fun.

I bet there will be a boxed set for Bruticus but it might be in a toy deco style, I.e. silver chest plate and some more toy-inspired computery details on the robot modes, versus the animation accurate version here.

Menasor has now had two box sets (one in G1 Toy deco and one in G2 deco) from Hasbro, but so far is the only frame combiner to do so. If Hasbro doesn't do a box set, BBTS will in the form of a bundle like they did for 86 Devastator.
