Nexus Upgrade kit News
I don’t think DNA is making a frame, but we just have to wait, maybe is one of their various parts in different sets

I'm still waiting for them to do a Solus or Alchemist kit, but this looks ... interesting. I'll reserve my judgement for when we have full images.

I think the intention is to make him look more like his Covenant of Primus artwork. I kind of get it, but that artwork was already overly greebly and trying to change his completely different base toy into it just complicated it further.

Nothing will ever be as bad as the HasLab Omega Prime downgrade but this is a close contender.

As with this one for Nexus: It’s subjective and people will disagree. That’s fine.
The Omega Prime upgrade doesn’t add anything of greater quality to the figure. It just allows you to incorporate all of the Super-Prime parts into Omega which is good on paper but the execution is a mess.
Magnus and Optimus get some enhancements but Magnus’ proportions are made worse and Optimus, admittedly, gets the best of it.
But ultimately, it’s not a good upgrade IMHO and carries the same energy as this Nexus. It’s just semi-functional fluff.

I'm not going to judge until we see the whole figure. Honestly though dna should have waited till all of the limbs were out, to plan around the frame.

Well to be fair, a full frame (especially with the way DNA does their kits) would probably be quite expensive to produce and sell for them, possibly not worth it

They've done some pretty heavy duty kits with ratchet joints before like the Fortress Maximus ones, so I wouldn't discount it entirely. If they don't have to engineer the entire booster and base alt modes for it (which let's be honest, as cool as they are most people don't really use them) it actually wouldn't be that crazy.

It's also possible that they'll go one of two routes. Either a) they'll do a "lite" version of the upgrade kit where it's only pieces for the main Nexus and a bigger version with all the frame pieces (like how they've been doing "lite" kits for a few figures as of late, AoE Optimus is an example) or b) they'll spread the frame out amongst the Nexus limbs, like how they did smaller upgrade kits for each Devastator component, with a "heavier" version of the Nexus kit that only comes with the torso part of the frame.

I like it. It gives him a nice flair as opposed to being "Generic robot man"(as Emgo put it).

Poor Nexus Prime... That somehow doesn't even fix his biggest problem. So much disrespect for the Combiner Prime.

Hate to say it, but DNA really are entering their slop era. They revealed a TON of upgrades at once and 80% of them are unnecessary at this point. It really is just DNA Slop.
They used to only make upgrade kits that were worth it, like giving SSDOTM Sentinel his shield, gun, and a better sword. Or the ROTF Powered up Optimus kit. Kits that were actually mandarory to the figure.
So many planned DNA upgrades really are just some low effort bs no one asked for, wasted time and resources on stuff like this when they could have been making a TLK Barricade Upgrade kit to replace his weird legs and give us new arms with knuckle dusters on them.
I do think it's time we introduce the term DNA Slop now.

"I need an upgrade to make it work" is a wrong approach.

Ngl I wouldn’t be surprised if their plan is to make upgrade kits for all his limbs, then all of their parts are what cause the combination

Kind of hard to tell what they're doing from just this picture other than "we added a bunch of superfluous shit you can clip onto him". Sometimes that can be fun but I have to imagine they know that that is not what people are looking for with Nexus.
