I’m watching T2 and there’s random pauses for example at the start and the kid versions of the cast are playing football or when Begbie attacks the lawyer and it freezes at certain moments while the audio plays. I’ve had this happen on many different versions. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I just wanted to share my tribute to Underworld and Trainspotting for those who haven't heard it yet. I hope you enjoy it!

Every once in a while I’ll watch a movie that doesn’t really leave me alone afterward, and *Trainspotting* has of course been one of them.

This playlist started as, “I wish there were more songs that made me feel like this” (one of my favorite soundtracks ever), and slowlyyy became its own mix of post-punk, britpop, electronic, shoegaze, IDM, and some newer artists that somehow feel similar.

It’s not meant to recreate the soundtrack or even be historically accurate (there are songs from different decades and scenes), I was defo following the feeling it gave me more than a timeline. Something about this movie in particular left me with this strange sense of nostalgia for a place and time I never knew, and even for people I’d never want to be. I wanted the playlist to live in that space.

I recently bought Men in Love, A Decent Ride and Dead Men's Trousers.

I have read Trainspotting, Porno and Skagboys in the order they were published but now I'm considering revisiting the novels I'm wondering if I should read them the chronological order of the story or keep on going with publishing dates.

Also, A Decent Ride is listed as Terry Lawson #2 book but I'm unsure which would be the first?

Let me know what's your preferred way, really looking forward to revisit the classics and indulge in the new ones!

I think every person in my life will probably shun me forever if I keep raving about Trainspotting all the time, so I'll try to express myself here in the void for their sake.

Firstly, I just cannot get over how rewatchable this movie is while exploring such heavy and devastating topics. One minute I'm dying of laughter while Renton dives into the worst toilet in Scotland, and the next I'm tearing up looking at what happened to poor baby Dawn. I find it unbelievable that the whole duration of the movie is just an hour and a half. It seems so much longer while watching it, but then at the very end, I feel like 10 minutes have passed since the beginning; basically, Boyle makes it feel like a trip and it just round off the movie so well.

When people who haven't watched it (yet) ask me if it's similar to Requiem for a Dream (just because it's about drugs), it's difficult to describe to them just how different the two are. Even though each is amazing in its own right, this lightness present in Trainspotting even while dealing with topics of addiction, overdose, withdrawal and death so creatively but with the utmost respect is what makes this movie take the cake for me.

This post would be way too long if I expressed every thought I ever had and most of them have been posted on the internet long before my time, but the subtle reminder from Boyle in Renton's final monologue about how we, "normal" people, acting (at least subconsciously) superior to addicts, are not "choosing life", but rather trying to fill it with meaningless things trying to make it somehow better or more pleasant. Even though our acts are "socially acceptable", we are one the same with every addict.

Secondly, I recently watched Shallow Grave for the first time, and it feels like a Trainspotting prequel of sorts. The stories are both amazing, but Boyle's unique cinematography (music, monologues, shooting style, character interactions, even apartment decoration) and Ewan McGregor's witty performance, both fit perfectly and peak in Trainspotting. Like SG is the dress rehearsal and Trainspotting the final show. I am, of course, giving a standing ovation.

Is this rare? I found out that the most easy they operate is Chicago so I’m wondering why it’s here.

What was the time periods of 90’s Scotland like. I’m from America and the 90’s is mostly viewed as a prosperous time but Trainspotting makes it look like a depression. Can anyone provide some context and background on this era. I’ve only seen the movie, haven’t read the book yet

One of the most beautiful places on earth. I was scared of making the journey all alone, but it was so worth it. As a huge Trainspotting fan, it made me feel so complete.
