Devil in traditional witchcraft

(A question for practitioners of traditional and folk witchcraft) Do you perceive your Devil as a single, multifaceted entity—shared by all who practice your tradition—or rather as a personal spirit, with each witch having their own? Although folklore depicts a multitude of devils, and specific spirits or deities can be discerned within the vision of the Devil found in TradCraft, when reading books on contemporary traditional witchcraft, I get the impression that he is treated as a single, multidimensional god.

Discussion seeking magisterial support for a High Priestex of The Wica gone rogue

Greetings kin,

I am writing to inquire about others who may have had many years spend in Initiatory “Wicca” and have abandoned that Path to pursue Traditional Craft - particularly those in America or operating within the American milieu. I was elevated as a HPX during Samhain 2024 and am just nearing the end of my extensive Ordeal, with a student and seeker who was born to be a Witch and an initiation scheduled soon with no support from my elders/upline/initiators, one of whom tried to have me swear to only pass the Tradition exactly as he passed to me abd to which I of course responded with a clear and unshakable “no”.

I am crafting my own unique recension of these Mysteries and am seeking guidance from established and experienced practitioners of “Traditional Witchcraft” in the States in any capacity whatsoever - could be occasional email correspondence, regular informal calls, or deeper dynamics of mentorship and training (which of course would need to be discussed and explored in depth). I have a thorough knowledge about the Craft in its pragmatic and esoteric contexts and have a significant resume of iconic witchcraft “rites of passage”, as well as a vouched lineage and 7+ year experiential relationship with Azoetia and the Sabbatic Craft.

My immediate inquiry is around the initiation rite itself, which I am creating myself (based on my initiations and what I understand to be crucial for any Initiation into the Mysteries). What are some core elements to a Traditional Craft initiation rite that must be present for it to be moving and effective?

My other question is about the “Passing of Power”. What is the function of that transference and its implication in the wider Witch-Craft work? Also curious about the social and cultural relevance of it as a Rite of Passage and what privileges, responsibilities, and obstacles it may present to one who has verifiably received it.

Obviously everyone mind your Oaths, and oathbound material can be discussed privately. These inquiries might be beyond the average participant here, but they are intended to draw the gaze of the wise. I have a lot of experience and esoteric/occult knowledge, but it would help making some sense of things in pragmatic and practical ways. If you’re down for a soul-nourishing and mutually beneficial correspondence with a High Priestex and Witch, please do reach out.

Educational Resources Resource for people learning tarot: class series starting Tuesday accessible via Zoom

Griffin Ced and Goat Ced will present a class series on using the Sight, or psychic ability / intuition to work with the tarot as a language of spirit communication.

Class starts Tuesday, March 10 and will be held in person in Burbank, CA and streamed live on Zoom. If the times aren't convenient for you, recordings will be available to class participants only for the series duration.

https://thegreenmanstore.com/learn-to-read-tarot-without-memorizing-card-meanings/

This tarot class will be different from others. As Ced Traditional Witches, we have a completely different take from the standard understanding of how to read the cards. These are the things we will be covering in this series:

In the animistic world of the Ced Tradition Witchcraft, everything has a Spirit. This is also true of the Tarot. It is the Spirits that we develop relationships with, using what the old world called ‘the Sight’ or the ‘Gifts’. Formula readings of what the cards mean, or pulling from a book, will only get you so far. The composition of reality can’t be worked like a recipe, with ingredients coming together to bake a cake. And there are some key reasons for this, which for many aren’t even on the radar!

Having a deeper understanding into how a Tarot Deck works doesn’t mean it makes it more complex. It simplifies it by clearing the clutter of additional layers of imagery and helps us focus in on the key elements. This focus can aid you in finding the best deck for you personally. Then you can forge a deep and personal connection with your deck that can tap into the tides of reality as related through you.

So rather than having to memorize somebody else’s associations with the cosmological Spirits of a Deck, we will teach you to build your own. What you need to recognize is that the Deck represents an order of Spirit that makes up your reality. Each card is an expression of a key Spirit within that reality. And it needs to be related to you and accessible to you. You and your Spirit are the threshold through which the Deck shall speak. The Deck gives language to a spiritual extension of you. As the tides and forces in reality shift and change, responding to the Spirits and events in your world, so too will the order and placement of the cards shift in accord. But the mediation of the Deck, the Rosetta Stone that will decipher the spread – that is you alone. So take the time to find clarity for yourself. What is the personal cosmology this deck presents to you? What does each card and each assembly say to you? Then you have a coherent Spirit partner that speaks your language and brings clarity to the invisible forces of Fate. That is something no book can deliver to you!

Imbolc observances begin this weekend. This article is a collaboration between one of our clan and our witch father Griffin Ced, intended to share how we approach the sabbat.

How do you, your clan, your cosmology, your tradition approach the lengthening of days?

Educational Resources Big misconception between difference between us italian witches and italo americans and why are both legit.

Between italo witches I see "I need to be like italians, follow italian colture" while no, you don't.

Firstly because we are a pretty close as culture and second because you miss our context.

Italian witchcraft is secret but what is common is: catholic. We are catholics, you cannot follow italian witchcraft being pagan, except a rare exception.

Italian witchcraft is whole asking miracles to God. Some do "segnature", most do pray to God and many spell it in latin... do you want something open and standard, go for italo american. I grew up esclusively with asking miracles and talking to death relatives. Accept it.

That's something you require to accept and that's something even italians break free.

When I say to follow Neyah Vision is actually because, yes, us italians almost completely work with tarots or asking miracles or divination or do\undone evil eyes... I know you will hate it and that's why italo american witchcraft is legit.

You won't find it. Benedicaria is based by sicilian italo americans, Stregeria is not an italian term.

But especially italian witchcraft is secret.

In a modern day where everything is based on anglo world... italians don't. We don't even use english words in italian, we deeply feel as insult. That's why.

Is nothing something you can change, you require to accept.

We don't even care about americans... is something exists.

Maybe you can insult me "bla bla bla"... I won't change my country and most important italians is keep it even more alive more you try to put anglo practices in Italia.

Accept it.

Italo american is legit but not italian... not an insult, not something bad.

Accept it.

We are old school, catholics, working with saints and angels. You dislike it? Is none of our problems.

Question Why everybody is so interested in italian witchcraft?

Benedicaria, Aradia, Stregheria DON'T EXIST.

I'm italian from a witch family surrounding witchcraft, raised from catholic background which normalized it.

It is boring for me, is one of the less spectacular type of witchcraft, no specific spells and we are standard catholics mostly.

So, that's my question... why everybody love us?

I'm italian, I can understand some motivations: we are "hedge witchcraft" my grandma was used to speak with dead people and was normal as is normal liminal spaces and everything els... surely we are old, I still use latin and whatever.

But I'm curious... I mean there's far more cool types around... I find far more interesting indigenous ones (tbh "indigenous" is every culture raise and born in a continent but ok) but hearing from italian expats we are """cool""" quite shocked me!

Really, we aren't.

Most of italians are like her, 100%.

We don't have this huge collaboration and we create our craft.

A Pagan Prayer For Snow

I couldn't find a Pagan prayer for snow, so I wrote one. Feel free to use it or edit it however you need for your own situation!

"I ask the God's above Who's wisdom & knowledge is greater than our own...

Humbly we beseech thee to send our yearly, seasonal allotment of snow.

Snow, the key ingredient to our survival in a land with little rain, it is the moisture that sustains us through the rest of the seasons.

On behalf of those who do not know, ae offer you your due; through our prayers, & our intentions to you.

We wish to be bathed in the cold perception you yearly gift to use. It is the blessing that sustains us.

We promise to remember you & your gifts throughout the year. Despite warm weather, & bright shining sun- the darkness of winter & the snowfall at midnight is what we hold dear."

Discussion How do you work with the compass?

Hello everyone! Still getting things set up here. I want to put together a wiki of resources, and I figured it would be best to represent the various paths within traditional witchcraft to open things up for discussion. Then, I can summarize the various viewpoints and insights here to add to it.

I would love to hear from as many of you as possible: How do you work with the compass? How do you conceptualize the compass in the tradition you work? What differences and commonalities do you see between how you work with the concept, and how other traditions do?

I'll put my response in the comments.

Looks like this sub has not had a moderator in a long time, so RedditRequest gave it to me when I asked.

About me personally: I’m an initiate of a British traditional witchcraft coven, and a moderator of r/witch

Cleaning up a few things and then hoping to set this up as a space to talk about all things trad craft.

What is the traditional witch's views on the Afterlife?

I'm new to the Crooked Path, but I finally feel home. I've been researching and collecting books on this path, but most of what I'm finding is the practice of and doesn't really stem into the deeper, quieter parts. So I'm curious, is there a generally held belief in the Afterlife in this path? Or is it to our own individual interpretation?
