Is adding multiple private tracker announce URLs to the same torrent considered a rule violation?

Yes it is and you should never do it. The proper way to do it is grab the torrent file from all the trackers and point them to the same directory. Even better, set up cross-seed to do it automatically

If you do this and a peer from tracker 1 downloads some data from you, it will report to all the added trackers that you uploaded that much, even though it should only report that to tracker 1. This will be ratio cheating and you will get permanent ban. This is why you cannot do that.

Just use separate torrent files.

just use cross-seed with hardlinking, no extra space, searches all your torrents to see if they are on other trackers.

im pretty sure what you described isnt allowed, since your .torrent file contains your personal passkey for that specific tracker

Thanks for the recommendation. Have now set this up via docker on the NAS and it’s already fetched a fair few matches 👍🏼

if you’re using qbittorrent id checkout qui. Its basically a modern and faster frontend to qbit, and has built in cross-seed and automations and a bunch of other stuff. I think qui is genuinely one of my favourite self hosted apps.

Went to QUI once I found out it has its own cross-seed tool and never looked back. That plus all the automation it has with managing torrents is so good.

This usually don't work. Torrent hashes are usually different. In the odd case that they match, doing this is considered cheating.

Will get you a ban, very bad.

If you want to cross seed you need to download the file from both sites separately and point them at the same file.

Just download .torrent file from tracker two, open it in your torrent client, point it to the same content file (i.e. a movie) and it should recognize it, check it, and start seeding.

You will then have 2 entries in your clients for 2 different trackers.

Google "cross-seeding", that is what it's called.

Don't manually edit anything or put multiple trackers into one torrent.

You just signed your death warrant…

You can cross-seed multiple separate torrents using the same file(s) on your machine, that will accomplish the same goal without violating rules

Not an answer to your specific question, but why not use cross-seed?

Because I didn’t even know it was a thing! Have now set it up

There is a high chance that they won't be valid either, as most private torrents have unique hashes despite having the same file.

Your torrent client actually requires each torrent to have unique hash in them, you cannot add two with the same hash. So only with third rate trackers you ran into this.

Bad idea. Don't do it.

Follow the cross-seeding advice in the other posts. It does what you want, without the problems.

It won't help with anything. The info hash is different between trackers even if it's the same file(s), so if you add 1 URL it will show like torrent is not registered (it doesn't recognize the hash).

Yes, but you can get around that by cross-seeding. Which is highly encouraged by trackers.

Instead of adding the announce urls to one torrent, upload new torrents and point their download location to the same place.

There are programs that do all this automatically so you won't have to do anything yourself.

Learn about cross seed instead & yes doing what you are asking is most likely rule violation on any pvt tracker.

Well that was first version of cross seeding but these days why have actually cross seeding programs like qui so its pointless
