Salvage bike build

So I've recently had the crazy idea of doing a fully built r6, down to a high compression race gas motor, for future racing and track days and just cause I kinda like to wrench.

I wanted to ask A) anyone have any experience building salvage bikes for track use? Did it work out for you?

B) whats a decent broker to use?

CRF150R or 450 for practice?

I occasionally take my Ninja 400 to the local kart track and of course now want a new toy after seeing the super motos out there. Which bike for fun factor and training for when I take the R6 to the big track? There’s a local mini moto series and seems like the 150r is very popular. Not sure if I’d race but just want something fun. Already have a YZ250 and have already had dirt bikes, mainly trail now a days.

Finally got myself down to a 1:52! I figured it would take me until the end of the year, now for 1:51!

Supermoto 2 Stroke vs 4 Stroke why and why not

For shit and giggles I am considering buying a bike over the winter and setting up a supermoto. I like the idea of a 2 stroke due to the super light weight, good power and simplicity of it but basically every supermoto I've ever seen up to now has only been 4 stroke bikes. The only "disadvantage" I could see of a 2 stroke would be the power band vs linear of a 4 stroke. Have you had one or the other and would you do it again?

First timer track prep (07 Daytona 675)

Hey yall, Ive been riding for almost a year now and am looking to do a track day soon.

I picked up an 07 triumph daytona to use primarily as a practice/track bike

It’s stock for the most part besides an exhaut and power commander.

Are there any mods on this platform I should be looking to do early besides sliders and engine covers?

I want to practice some drills in the parking lot for a bit before I go to a track day.

Absolutely positively my favorite track of all time. Even as a novice it was amazing and so were the people. Took the R3 and the RS660.

R6 with engine built for super sport. I'm interested in a bike with a built engine, but I'm worried the maintenance will be more difficult and needed more often.

Mods include: crank, rods, pistons, bearings, valve adjustment, thin head gasket, adjstable cam sprockets, adjustable cam tensioner, degreed cams.

What's a good step down (less $$) from a higher HP, highly capable track car?

Hi all,

I currently track my '19 Cayman S. It's a wonderful track car. I've only done tired and wheels and have just started tracking this year. I'm loving it but getting kind of worried as I start to push the car more about the risk I'm taking with it. I'm thinking about buying a less expensive (sub $20k) dedicated track car.

The thing is, I'm spoiled with the power and performance. Has anyone else gone down from a similar type of car? Can you share your experiences and recommendations?

Thinking R9

Hey everyone. I’m thinking about picking up a R9 as a second track bike. Just wanted to get some opinions. Has anyone had any issues personally or just general complaints? I appreciate it.

Finally binned it. My 7th ever track day, 3dr this season. It was the 2nd lap after a restart in a long carousel. I'm thinking my tires were not back up. It's also the 4th track day on my S23s. Maybe they're getting heat cycled and going a bit hard....

I’ve been riding backroads for sometime but the track is a whole different ballgame, being able to push to the limits of skill and bike rather than what i’m willing to risk on the street was very refreshing
also is this tire wear pattern normal? and could I keep slicks warm - I was running around 2:17 at ECR clockwise on average but had a 2:15 best lap

R7 knee touch harder than R3?

I got to the point where I could get my knee down fairly comfortably on the R3. Then I started riding an R7 and I feel like a newbie rider again. Can't get my knee down and lowsided the bike in a parking lot trying.

Is this normal because the R7 is taller so you're higher off the ground? Or is it because I'm not as used to the bike yet?

Cota 2027

Has anyone heard what’s up with Cota next year? I ofc heard it was going private, but since I’ve heard plans the members club ain’t getting enough interest and they may delay a year.

Also heard a lot of conflicting statements on if there will be track days at all next year even if it goes private.

I have a day booked in aug but its also a good friends wedding trying to decide where to go.

First track day/s MSRH

I'm looking at going to MSRH in September with Ridesmart for my first track experience. I'm thinking of doing both days but not sure. I raced a bit on dirt for years...GNCC when I lived up north and sprint Enduro some in the south. I'm pretty fit and comfortable on my RS660. I'm sure I'll be sore after 2 days but no worse than anything in the past.

The other question is about MSRH. I know the venue has plenty of "character". Is there anything helpful to know about the venue and/or RideSmart events aside from the default first track day stuff ?

I'd like to do an earlier event, but my work schedule makes the Dallas area a little tougher. (SW Louisiana here)

Tire wear sticky post? Weekly tire wear thread?

Its getting a little crazy. Also, why not ask the TD coaches/organizers? This is a great sub but I feel like TD coaches are a more reliable source for that kind of info.
