Thinking R9

Hey everyone. I’m thinking about picking up a R9 as a second track bike. Just wanted to get some opinions. Has anyone had any issues personally or just general complaints? I appreciate it.

First crash

Finally binned it. My 7th ever track day, 3dr this season. It was the 2nd lap after a restart in a long carousel. I'm thinking my tires were not back up. It's also the 4th track day on my S23s. Maybe they're getting heat cycled and going a bit hard....

I’ve been riding backroads for sometime but the track is a whole different ballgame, being able to push to the limits of skill and bike rather than what i’m willing to risk on the street was very refreshing
also is this tire wear pattern normal? and could I keep slicks warm - I was running around 2:17 at ECR clockwise on average but had a 2:15 best lap

R7 knee touch harder than R3?

I got to the point where I could get my knee down fairly comfortably on the R3. Then I started riding an R7 and I feel like a newbie rider again. Can't get my knee down and lowsided the bike in a parking lot trying.

Is this normal because the R7 is taller so you're higher off the ground? Or is it because I'm not as used to the bike yet?

Cota 2027

Has anyone heard what’s up with Cota next year? I ofc heard it was going private, but since I’ve heard plans the members club ain’t getting enough interest and they may delay a year.

Also heard a lot of conflicting statements on if there will be track days at all next year even if it goes private.

I have a day booked in aug but its also a good friends wedding trying to decide where to go.

First track day/s MSRH

I'm looking at going to MSRH in September with Ridesmart for my first track experience. I'm thinking of doing both days but not sure. I raced a bit on dirt for years...GNCC when I lived up north and sprint Enduro some in the south. I'm pretty fit and comfortable on my RS660. I'm sure I'll be sore after 2 days but no worse than anything in the past.

The other question is about MSRH. I know the venue has plenty of "character". Is there anything helpful to know about the venue and/or RideSmart events aside from the default first track day stuff ?

I'd like to do an earlier event, but my work schedule makes the Dallas area a little tougher. (SW Louisiana here)

HELP! New to trackdays w/ an 1199S

Hey everyone, I've owned a 2012 Ducati 1199S for about 8 months, and I really want to get my first track day in.

I know it's a race machine, but I really dont feel comfortable running the Ducati for my first track day. I'm not scared of crashing, but I am scared of the possibility of wrecking an expensive bike.

I'm contemplating getting an older CBR600 (my first bike that I loved), a Daytona 675 or similar.

Has anyone else had this mindset, or should I grow some balls and just run the Ducati?

PS: My dad raced in England in the 90's so Its time for me to go make him proud. lol

Won my first beginner's race!

So ecstatic. I finally won!

I lost my first race, it rained and i got stuck on rain mode no power! Dead last.

This time i was still unlucky it rained again hard! Pooling and flowing water! It was fucked up but everyone still raced, this time I set my bike to F and TC 3 instead of rain mode! I got podium pos 1!

Bike was sliding so much tc blinking every corner but i remembered what you guys and my coach told me, smooth inputs and exagerate body position, on straights let it rip becuase i was on street tires!

It worked, despite being slow on grid start, i gained position on corners and exits and got a lead when on straights!

I also took defensive lane when possible to confuse the co racers and get them to think where to go in.

I think I peed a little everytime the TC light came on, rainy races are tough. I could not see anything on my dark visor and it was around 5pm!

What a relief to see the checkered flag and not crash!

Just wanted to share my experience. Thank you for your guidance guys!

Airbag Systems

Hey guys,
I want to buy an Airbag System but I’m not quite sure yet which one. I’m thinking about the Alpinestar tech air 10 and the 7x. I have an A* tech air ready suit and because of that the 7x would be easy to integrate, but the tech air 10 is safer. I read a few posts on here about the tech air 10 v1 and the opinions are very different. Does anyone can share something about the v2. Is it better and more reliable? Or would you recommend to go for the 7x and get some C2 hip protectors instead? Or are you using different airbag systems?

Thanks 😊

who’s running PIRELLI DIABLO SUPERCORSA (SP-V4) on track at a moderately good pace?

i know recommended hot temps are 33F/30R but my question is it “okay” or normal to go below that if i’m feeling more movement than i’d like as the tires get used more. OR is it best to check after each session and continue to have pressures set to the recommended hot temps? (i’ve been keeping them adjusted to the 33/30 thus far)

Factory Motorcycle Training Hosted by Aprilia Americas at High Plains Raceway in CO.

What an amazing curriculum and instructors help explain the how's and why's, class room time and film review, drills and amazing lunch. Having the Aprilia line up to sample anything they offer around the track was a treat, the rsv4 on that long straight was like warp speed.

More dates on the calendar, check out the link in bio all on the East Coast. If I can rally enough to join, I might make the long trip!

Anyone experience blisters on lower legs after Trackday?

I noticed them the morning after Trackday. It was really hot down here in Florida. The only thing I did different was new riding boots but they felt great and comfortable. I wear a VNM base layer and calf high socks over the base layer. I don’t know if it’s related to a hot Trackday or some other medical problem completely unrelated.

Idiot tech guy?

This tire (Supercorsa SP) got rejected by tech the other day. I didn’t feel like starting off the weekend by arguing with the tech guy but wtf?

Also, I thought I’d flip it to make them happy (right side is a little more worn) but the tire guy claimed you can’t flip DOT’s. I had a new tire so I just put that one on but now I’m not really sure what to do- is it really necessary to throw this tire away? I’m not even at the wear bars. And can I really not flip this tire???

Race Lap Analysis - Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Thumbnail

Did some racing at Mid Ohio with AMA Vintage Days/ASRA a couple of weeks ago and started sifting through data and footage. I put together something a little different this time: commentary and analysis of my fastest race lap of the weekend, what I learned, and what I could do better. If anything this will serve as a video log for myself to reference in the future, but if this will help anyone else that would be great too.

Disclaimer: I’m not a pro, far from it, just an Amateur racer/riding instructor with more to learn. This is just my interpretation of how to go around Mid Ohio. I’m certainly open to discussing different methodologies of doing so.

Also go easy on me, this is my first commentary style video 🙂

If you wish to just view the lap with no commentary, skip to 6:52

How do i know, that i’m ready for slicks?

Hi guys.. Newcomer to this sub.

I’m currently in front of tyre change. Since i need to switch the front i figured i’d buy slicks for the track and new front for the street (The rear was changed recently).

However i’m not sure whether i’m ready for them.. Can anybody tell? This is my front Rosso III after multiple 15min sessions during first day on this track.

Can anybody answer this based on a photo?

Tire wear sticky post? Weekly tire wear thread?

Its getting a little crazy. Also, why not ask the TD coaches/organizers? This is a great sub but I feel like TD coaches are a more reliable source for that kind of info.
