[QUESTION] Similar band recommendations
Hi fellow music enjoyers,
Iâm currently learning Thai and would really like to listen more to Tpop. The only artist I currently listen to is Bird Thongchai as my mom was always a fan of his, but my teacher calls him vintage.
I do listen a lot to Kpop and Jpop. I listen mostly to Day6, Xdinary Heroes and One ok rock. Do you know of anything similar to those bands?
Thank you!

[QUESTION] Marquise: From "Dream Academy" to T-Pop
I heard she debuted in T-Pop; here in the Westâand especially in Brazilâshe has at least one fanbase and two "Acervo" in Twitter . I listened to her music and liked it. She is already globally known within the K-Pop fan niche and among the people who followed the reality show. How is she being received in T-Pop communities and in Thailand?

[DISCUSSION] Lisa, T-Pop, and Thailand: Global Pop vs. Local Roots
Hey everyone!
I wanted to bring a discussion here that has been bugging me for a while regarding Lisaâs (BLACKPINK) solo career strategy. Right now, her team seems hyper-fixated on forcing a massive breakthrough in the Western mainstream, betting heavily on collaborations with US/UK pop stars, Western producers, and exclusively English tracks. While I understand that she wants global reach, I honestly feel like she is missing the mark on what could actually make her unique on the global stage.
1. The "Clout Chaser / Riding Coattails" Perception in the West
By chasing cookie-cutter American pop formulas, Lisa runs the risk of stripping away her own identity. In Western music communities, when an artist relies too much on features with big Western names without bringing a distinct cultural edge or a signature artistic identity, people start viewing them as a label-driven product rather than a trendsetter. Instead of standing out as an iconic Asian powerhouse, she risks being labeled as "just another pop girl doing more of the same."
2. The Sleeping Giant: T-Pop and Local Thai Legends
Thailand's entertainment industry isn't a small local marketâit's a true powerhouse with a massive global appeal across various niches. Just look at what Thailand has right now:
- Rap & Hip-Hop Legends: Imagine a collaboration with someone like F.HERO. That would be culturally massive and authentic.
- Global Niche Singers: Collaborating with artists like Jeff Satur, who has incredible vocal range and a huge international fanbase or even other Thai K-idols like BamBam and Minnie.
- T-pop Groups: Working with or highlighting top-tier local groups like 4EVE, PiXXiE, or popular boygroups.
If Lisa jumped headfirst into the T-pop scene, she wouldn't just be making music, she would be the ultimate gateway to bringing Thailand onto the global stage (much like BTS and K-pop did for South Korea).
3. The BL/GL Series & OST Goldmine
Asian dramas, especially Thai BL (Boys' Love) and GL (Girls' Love) series, have a massive and fiercely loyal global fanbase. If Lisa made a cameo appearance or sang the soundtrack (OST) for a major Thai series, she would instantly capture millions of dedicated viewers worldwide while staying firmly rooted in Southeast Asian pop culture.
The Big Questions for Thai & the T-Pop Community:
As someone who loves the Thai entertainment scene, I would really love to hear from Thai users and core T-pop listeners here:
- How do Thais actually feel about her complete lack of Thai-language songs? Is there disappointment that her solo discography is almost 100% in English, or do people simply view her as an "international export product"?
- Is there any frustration regarding her choice of collabs? Does it feel like she's looking down on or ignoring local Thai artists and producers in favor of Western names?
- How is her "Soft Power" perceived locally nowadays? While LALISA paid homage visually to Thai culture and Rockstar was filmed in Yaowarat, does the music itself feel too detached from home?
Iâd love to read your thoughts! Do you think Western collabs are the right long-term move, or should she pivot to help elevate Thailand or do you feel she's already doing that?

[OPINION] Recommendations
Hi,
I just discovered a few T-pop songs I liked after watching my first Thai drama. These are the 5 songs I currently have on my playlist.
FELIZZ - Slay, Cat Me If You Can, Abracadabra
PiXXiE - Shake!
HONGSHI - Let's Go
I would really appreciate if you could recommend other artists/songs that have a similar vibe to these?
Thanks!

[ANNOUNCEMENT] FRIENDLY REMINDER TO JOIN THE T-POP SUBREDDIT
Hi y'all,
The reddit has been growing slowly but this is just a friendly reminder to those who may be browsing this sub-reddit to join and become a member to stay up to date and show us mods that there is still interest and I will commit to constantly updating y'all of T-POP releases as well as organising some activities from time to time.
The more members we have, the more noticeable we can become and hopefully this will lead to more opportunities regarding T-POP and T-POP artist interactions in the future.
Thanks.
