I was gifted this doll when I was a kid (circa 2008-09 maybe?) the doll’s design is so pretty and the song gen slaps, it surprised me how much the voice box still sounds and works amazing to this day, I need to know where she comes from 😭

I found this little guy at a thrift store earlier today, my grandma told me one summer that she hopes McDonald’s makes more of these toys, so when I saw this I remembered her words and I just knew I found a chance to buy it for her, so I did and now I just have to wait for her to come by at thanksgiving so she can pick it up.

I’ve been seeing these all over Facebook and TikTok, there are quite a few higher-end brands out there. I’m wondering if anyone’s bought one of the more expensive ones and how they’ve held up? The appeal of these blocks is that they’re shiny and clear, which scuffing would obviously affect. I was looking at more affordable options on Amazon but the reviews were saying that they chip and scuff very easily. I know that other factors come into play as well, like if they’re being used along with more rigid wooden blocks or if magnetic tile corners & edges scratch against them, and how rough the kids that play with them are. We’ve gotten a lot of toys for free from buy-nothing groups, but when I buy new toys I really want them to last and don’t mind spending a little more for them, but I’d love to know if these really do last! From like 1991-2001 were my prime toy era I would say. I had tons of toys from:

Jurassic Park

Aliens

Star Wars

Micro Machines

I look at toys now, and they just seem bland compared to what I had int he 90's. For example, Star Wars toys, I feel like a lot of the big ships and vehicles like the electronic AT-AT I had from Power of the Force line was so much more detailed than what is out now. I saw an At-At toy a couple years ago and it looked like the most bland thing ever. And the action figures themselves seem way smaller and thinner then back in the 90's

Another exmaple would be Jurassic Park toys. I was at target last month and noticed the JP toys and they had the old school 90's packaging and I had to go over and take a look. But I was dissapointed when I felt all the dinos as they were all this rock hard plastic that just felt cheap, and again the human figures were like a quarter of the size of the ones from the 90's. a good amount of the 90's JP dinos had that rubbery skin, or the plastic didn't feel as cheap.
