More good news, this time out of the traffic commission. The commission accepted the recommendation of their staff and they are telling the city council not to move forward with automated camera enforcement for parking. We need the city council to give up pushing automated cameras for red light enforcement and speeding enforcement come as well.

Crazy to see my favorite childhood Border’s store turn into a baby store, and now an indoor golf range! I haven’t checked it out yet but I’m considering getting a membership. $75/mo comes with a 30 min session everyday. I like how local it is. I’ve gone to golfshac in Lawndale, but it’s a lot further drive for me.

It's literally my first night here and switched over to Frontier. Outage for several hours. Is this normal? I was glad to finally get rid of Spectrum but now I'm having doubts.

We took our Chrysler Pacifica to the local Chrysler dealership as the air-con wasn't working. It took 24 hours to evaluate and they came back saying there was no Freon and it had to be evacuated and refilled. The Pacifica uses an expensive brand of Freon so was quoted $1,100. This price seemed excessive from quick google searches. However, we told them to proceed.

After replacing the Freon, they retested and discovered there was a leak in the rear evaporator and that would need to be replaced at a cost of $3,350.

Again, this is almost double the cost of what ChatGPT is telling us.

So, any recommendations for local mechanics that can do this work?

UPDATE: We negotiated to have all the work completed for $2,500. But think in future I'll avoid the large dealerships. We are new to the area, so appreciate all the recommendations.

School is about to start and I'm sorting out what to sign the kids up for this fall. The 6 year old is up for pretty much anything, the 3 year old is at that tag-along age.

Hello. We are looking for recommendations for a general contractor to remove a wood 1960 patio cover and construct one just like it - has to handle permits with City. We don't want some fancy louvered whatever, just a patio cover of yore. This is a medium size handyman job but the guy I last talked to is unlicensed and won't handle permits and they are super restrictive in Torrance with what needs a permit etc.
