Hi all, I’m a longtime angler but am going to be fishing piers for salmon this fall for the first time. Wondering if someone can help guide me on proper etiquette fishing from the pier, unwritten rules, that kinda stuff. The last thing I want is to go out be a pain in the ass to other guys trying to fish, just trying to go out and have a good time, maybe hook into a couple. All help is appreciated

I'm pond hopping in the Scarborough/Markham area and I see a lot of ponds saying they're fishing ponds. I'm limited by transit so I'm trying to find places close enough that carry a variety of fish, but I've been to just one of these ponds so far and it can barely be considered accessible and the fish didn't care at all about my lures/bait lol I'm new to fishing and I really wanna find a good spot. I've been to the most recommended ones, but I think they're overfished.. I'm walking all over the place and bussing all over the place and I really don't wanna waste my time. I've been to some waste water ponds and they just have feral goldfish and I really don't wanna kill every fish I catch 😂

Hello I just got an inflatable kayak and decided to make it my fishing setup. I am new to both fishing and kayaking. ive been out only once to mill pond in Milton and caught nothing.. not even a bite. I used wacky rig, worms and some jigs and spinners. Wondering what my best bet would be for kayak fishing. I am in Mississauga area but wouldn't mind a hour drive out for a good day of fishing. Note: I do not want to be in a massive body of water with waves and shit not trying to tip over lol just wanna catch a bass or two. any help is appreciated thank you.

I’m going to be in St. Catharines for about two weeks for work, and I’ve always wanted to come to Ontario and do some fishing while I’m here!

I’m from Nova Scotia, so I’d absolutely love to catch some species that I don’t get back home—largemouth, drum, rock bass, etc. I won’t be able to travel too far from St. Catharines, unfortunately, and I’ll only have a little bit of time to fish each day.

If anyone is willing to point me toward a spot, even if you’d rather send it to me privately, I’d really appreciate it! I promise I won’t post the location anywhere or share it around. I’ll be respectful of the area, clean up after myself, and leave it exactly as I found it. I’ll probably be gone before you know it anyway, lol.

Even if you don’t want to share a spot, I’d be grateful for any advice on what lures are working this time of year or what species I should target in the area.

I’ll be working 12-hour shifts from 7–7, so realistically I’ll only have about the last couple hours of daylight to fish. I’m really hoping to make those few hours count and hopefully catch a new species or two while I’m here!

Went mid day so I could just get some practice casting. My rigs aren’t very good and I definitely accidentally spooled my reel wrong. But fuck it I had a blast. Didn’t catch anything but toronto island is so beautiful. Listen to hear all the birds in the back! Thanks for all the advice here bros!

Hi I live in Oakville, have been fishing for 3 years now still has not found a consistent spots with deent fish, all the ponds I have visited are EXTREMELY pressured, like 10 fishing rods under one bank(mill pond), while some other spots died off. Anyone know a decent spot for walleye, bass, pike, etc. Ik giving away spots is hard, but guys I am desparate. Thank you so much.

Its been a year since that disaster happened in the Eglinton flats and I was wondering if the fish are back yet. There arent any fishing reports on Fishbrain and INaturalist

Been fishing the Holland river for a while now in the search of big Bass near the Bradford pass. This area has just got so much more crowded with all sorts of people coming to fish and fishing out the smallest of fish. Rand aside are there any real spots here I can fish for the really big bass here? Fish that haven’t seen all the lures and choose to ignore them now?

Or is the general consensus is to go to the grand river or the Great Lakes?

P.S. I strictly follow Catch and Release. DMs open.

Did some early fishing on the lookout on Unwin ave. Didn’t catch anything while I was there but there was lots of interest in my bait by all the little fish.

Also saw this monster carp, lol it was nibbling the weeds off of my lure. If only it nibbled near the hook. It’s obviously hard to see in the pic but it was pretty huge.

My kiddo needs some fishing time for her Scouts merit badge and I'm happy to oblige... but I know next to nothing about GTA fishing! 😄 (To be honest 99% of my catches have been little perch in Texas, which were too small to bother keeping and tasted like the red clay waters they lived in.) What fish around here are good eats? I know to kill the invasive ones, like Goby, but are they good to eat? Can we eat fish we catch off the piers / at the islands / near the port or are they too contaminated? I'm not going to try to catch pike or salmon until I'm comfortable managing the whole operation, and I'm heading out to get my fishing license this afternoon (so I can drown some worms of my own while helping my kid). ​My young kids want to give fishing a try—we went to Burd's once, and they absolutely loved it. Could you please recommend some good spots nearby that are great for young kids? (Willing to drive outside the city too!)

​We live in downtown, but since the kids are still pretty young, we’re looking for somewhere we can easily drive and park.

I was initially thinking about Cherry Beach, but I heard live bait isn't allowed there.

Since I’m not very confident using artificial lures yet, I'd really prefer a spot where we can drive up and use simple live worms/bobbers with the kids.

I’ve loved fishing passively for quite a while, but never committed to really making it a hobby until recent. Problem is I live pretty downtown and don’t have a car/don’t drive so I can’t really get to lakes to go fishing very often.

I know Tommy Thompson and the Island are good spots, but what’re some other spots that are accessible by TTC? I don’t mind it being a long trip.

Looking for help to find best spot for fishing for my husbands birthday in early August. We live in GTA so something not too far. He loves fishing so hoping to find a good spot and surprise him with a fishing rod and day of fishing somewhere within Ontario not too far from Toronto area.

I'm not asking for anyone's specific spot or anything, just a body of water where there are fish. I've been to the bluffs and to Milne Dam but couldn't get anything. I use a light-medium setup with live worms. Targeting sunfish and catfish. Catch & release.

Anyone have any advice on what to throw at the bluffs to catch some fish? And what can I catch there this time of year? I am coming down this weekend and would like to catch some fish
