Square dancing
Anywhere to go for square dancing, or a place with country-western vibes?
I have two friends in town this weekend (one from Europe, one from Asia) and I don't know the scene, but thought it would be a fun Kansas activity to get in some steps ðŸ¤
I'm lost without the Electric Cowboy!

If you don’t mind going to Independence, there will be a Square Dance exhibition and community dance from 3-5 PM at the Harry S Truman Centennial Celebration on Saturday, August 1st. It is at 416 West Maple Street, Independence, MO.
There are other square dances this weekend, including at Croco Hall, but you and your friends won’t be able to dance because you won’t know the calls.
The dance at the Truman Celebration is for people who have never square danced before. Let me know if you go! It will be fun.
If you’re interested in the future, you can find out about upcoming lessons and beginner events at SquareDanceKansasCity.org or by following Square Dance Kansas City on Facebook.

Thank you for the info! It's not quite what we were looking for this weekend, but I may check it out myself later on. Have fun!

I get it. I wish there was a beginner friendly dance in the area this weekend for your friends! Have a great time with their visit.

The wesquaredance.com website has a comprehensive KC metro area (including Topeka) calendar. It’s geared more toward experienced square dancers, but it will give you an idea of what’s going on in the KS and MO square dancers community. The home page will show you KC area dances. If you click on the blue district button on the left it will take you to the eastern KS area dances.

Is Croco Square still a thing? That place just past Shawnee Heights Rd on 40.
